what are they like mofo my main mofo

lovesliescrushing (often misspelled loveliescrushing) is a lo-fi, ambient, noise band, that formed in the fall of 1991 in East Lansing, Michigan and later moved to Tucson, Arizona.Their sound has been compared mainly to that of My Bloody Valentine. Unlike My Bloody Valentine however, lovesliescrushing has a sound less dependent on traditional song structures and vocals. With a penchant for guitar tonality and soft vocals, while burying the result under layers of effects, they combine noise and melody in wondorous ways. The emphasis has always been on texture, hence the unorthodox manner of playing strings with metal, nails, chopsticks, screwdrivers, vibrators, violin bows, to create new tones. They are often accused of using keyboards on their albums, an honest mistake due to the otherworldly sound that they achieve.
:) .

YDload 11-03-2006 11:37 PM

Salvador Sanchez is a kewl song, it's got that slow, electric soul-crushing feeling that I've been raving about in other songs time and time again (Duk Koo Kim is the same) :)

Eliminator 11-04-2006 12:30 AM

What the hell is Destroyer? What kind of asshole takes a perfectly good metal name and uses it for an acoustic act?

Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity So Goddamned Quickly That You Can't Even Follow The Changes As A Listener - How The Hell Do WE Do It As Musicians!?

I like Mark Prindle's title for it.

mr_jackalope 11-04-2006 03:30 AM
It's always funny when Tindersticks get mentioned. DMD and jackalope always express either how great Tindersticks are or how proud they are of the listener.
This is how we roll.

City of Daughters is the only Destroyer album I haven't heard I think. I like some of the others even if they are massively flawed, maybe I'll dig that one more.

I think I might tackle Hammock's new one tonight. Or maybe I'll sleep.

Tom Waits - Real Gone

Hoist That Rag has such a rad solo.

Electronic Wolf 11-04-2006 01:47 PM

I put on Q and Not U's Different Damage. It's good.

asymm 11-04-2006 03:50 PM

Various - The World Is Gone
Superpitcher - Today
Great compilation put together by Superpitcher and released by Kompakt last year. I'm really enjoying this.

Huntsville - For The Middle Class
New Rune Grammofon release arrived yesterday. I'm going to give it a spin in a few moments. From the little I heard on their website, I think this should be pretty good.

Eliminator 11-04-2006 04:05 PM

the world is gone

Robert Crumb 11-04-2006 04:21 PM

Is The World Is Gone good? I heard a song, seemed like it might be worth checking out. Currently listening to Joy Division. Also got El Mariel by Pitbull in the mail today. Should be interesting.

Eliminator 11-04-2006 04:22 PM

yeah it's solid

asymm 11-04-2006 04:33 PM

Yeah, definitely worth hearing. I had heard all of their 7"s, but it's nice to hear a lot of their material collected together and put into a real context. It also showcases a lot more variety than the 7"s as well.

Zmev 11-04-2006 04:41 PM

Final Fantasy 12

Yeah I've been playing this for 4 hours straight.

ATM 11-04-2006 04:51 PM

No Thanks: 70's Punk

best compliation ever

The Fiery Furnaces - Bitter Tea

What do you think of this, comparing to their earlier albums?

asymm 11-04-2006 05:17 PM

They won't ever be able to reach Blueberry Boat quality again, but Bitter Tea is a solid notch in their frantically growing belt.

Eliminator 11-04-2006 05:24 PM

blueberry boat and ep are the best ones

Eliminator 11-04-2006 06:22 PM
