Ive been seeing more and more of them every day, everywere i go. I think i need to get more Clapton CDs...im not really going for slowhand (the album) anymore. Any suggestions?
Clapton solo, or any of Clapton's work? |
Yeah, if you're a bigger fan of the blues, then go with Derek & The Dominoes.
I'm probably the biggist blues fan here and I perfer Blind Faith over Derek & The Dominoes. |
I'm probably the biggist blues fan here and I perfer Blind Faith over Derek & The Dominoes.
Wow, I'm in shock. I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Still, I'm surprised that Derek and the Dominoes is second place on the poll. |
I always thought that Blind Faith was kind of weak. A few good tunes but certainly nothing special. Everything clapton did was better.
|
Well, I think that Clapton guitar work really shined on Derek and the Dominoes, but he did good with Blind Faith. And Cream's Crossroad has no equal.
... Have... to stop... babbling.. about ... Clapton... |
I haven't listened to much Derek and the Dominoes or Blind Faith, so I can't really say who I like better. I just know I love Clapton.
|
If you love Clapton, you have to pick up those CD's. Many concider Derek and the Dominoes Clapton's finest.
|
Whenever I put CD's onto my computer it puts the CD into a genre, and it put VU and Nico in "Ambient/Dream Pop". Can someone give me examples of other bands from this genre, or is my computer one of those fags that makes up genres to look cool.
|
Really Rubber Soul is the turning point in which they explored their first non love songs.
Yeah it was. I love it. Woodstock, you have to stop saying so many albums are perfect or flawless. Because there are obviously som,e problems with it. Just not many.;) |

......... Oh my God. I'm sorry. I'm... spechless at the moment. I think I need some time alone with my guitar... |

Dream pop? Wtf? I certainly can't think of any examples. |
He butcherd Crossroads.
I disagree. |
He butcherd Crossroads.
Look what you did, you big meanie, you made slowhand sad. |
Dream pop? Wtf?
I certainly can't think of any examples.
My thoughts exactly. I haven't heard the original of Crossroads so I can't really comment, but Cream's version is so kickass I don't know how they could've butchered it. |
Yeah it was. I love it.

Im sorry but nobody covers Robert Johnson like that should get away with it. |

I'll do that now :thumb: EDIT: After reading his description of it VU is kinda "Dream Pop". |
WAH?!?! Butchered Crossroads? Not at all. Robert Johnson would've loved it. And I have the Derek and the Dominoes cd, just haven't listened to much of it.
|

Yes, Velvet Underground. The only thing is he said it originated in the early 80's and they were around long before that.

It lost its bluesy feeling I mean its to fast, the vocals have no delta bluesy feeling to them, its not meant to be spazy like that and it shoud be acoustic. |
I think Abbey Road is an absolute perfect album. No flaws whatsoever.
I actually might have to agree with you. I didn't really understand the album until a few months ago. I bought it, and listened to it twice and didn't like it. Then a waited a while, and I listened to it again...and suddenly it was my favourite Beatles album. One of the best albums ever. And to everyone who is arguing about Crossroads...it is a cover song! The whole reason an artist does a cover of a song is because they feel they have something different to add to it, give it a new twist. If everyone made their covers sound exactly like the original, what would be the point of even redoing the song? I like both versions of Crossroads, and they are definitely different, but it's not like Clapton ruined it. He's just offering his views on how the song could sound, he's not shoving it down your throat. edit- actually, i really like cover songs. Even if one of the versions is much worse, it's still interesting to see how a band can take a song and change it to make it their own. It seemed to work for Zeppelin. |

I get your point but I dont think you've had someone cover a song that you really enjoy and then they turn it into something you hate. |

Well a lot of people do like it. Last time I checked, Clapton wasn't put on this Earth to serve you, so get over it. |

Well I have had that happen to me. But I never really made a big deal out of it, because it was usually covered by a crappy band anyway. Except for the Chili Peppers version of Sub. Homesick Blues, that one kinda made me think twice why they even bothered covering the song. I understand what you're saying though. valid opinion. |
I posted a Keller Williams review yesterday. Check it out.

So Tom how is the Love album?
|

I would rather sit in my room and listen to ABB than go see Crossfade in concert. Crossfade is a band, right? |

Pretty good review. Was that the one you were talking about when you said "his more recent live album" when I asked what to get. |

Drugs will often do that to a person, today, Claptons states that he feels lucky to have survived that era still alive. |

I've seen a ton of classic rock bands last year alone. |
 Drugs....
Whats wrong with "drugs"? :upset:
i didn't mean it in terms of affecting the music, rather affecting the man and in turn the power of his muis, and thanks Schyma for looking at my response to your rocks defining moment thread thing. I thought about it and gave the best answer i could and it seems everone but you over looked it so thanks. +rep for you. |
