Bodyrox - "Yeah Yeah"

I don't know why.

Earth - Hex; Or Printing in the Infernal Method
Moss Icon - Lyburnum and It Disappears
Tonton Macoute - Tonton Macoute

And lots of soul. I love soul.

Minotaur Shock - Maritime

This is tight.

Yeah, so did I.

i listened to thunder, lightning, strike for the first time since summer

that album never fails to put me in a good mood

Sleepy 11-01-2006 03:38 PM

I've been digging The Decemberists for quite a while now. I found a Jaga Jazzist album floating around somewhere and that is some pretty fun stuff as well.

mr_jackalope 11-01-2006 04:11 PM

Today so far:

Mission of Burma - OnOffOn
Spoon - Gimme Fiction

asymm 11-01-2006 04:27 PM
Earth - Hex; Or Printing in the Infernal Method
Excellent. I love this record.

Today ... thus far:
Prefuse 73 - One Word Extinguisher
MoHa! - Raus Aus Stavanger
Used MoHa! to create my carbon-wash intaglio today ... it turned out pretty visceral, which is exactly what I was going for.

I thought that it was really cool at first but the effect quickly wears off. The problem is that he resorts to the same old effects and even though they sound sublime at first he re-uses them to often.

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - Tyranny Of Distance
Patrick Wolf - Lycanthropy
Primal Scream - Screamadelica
Chad VanGaalen - Infiniheart
The Red Paintings - Walls EP
The Exploding Hearts - Guitar Romantic

Trumans Water

this band are very cool, kind of like early Pavement except even more fractured and disjointed. I saw them mentioned in the liner notes of Thurston Moore's Psychic Hearts, so I checked them out.

Robert Crumb 11-02-2006 05:05 PM

I played "When I See Mommy I Feel Like a Mummy" on my radio show today so I'm really in the mood for some Beefheart. But I don't have any on me. Also, Miho Hatori's album. Neat stuff that.

Great shoegaze/pop stuff.

such a good album. Chronograph #1 is a fabulous song

i'm big into the song "The Horse Used to Wear a Crown" by frog eyes

sooo cool.

Iai 11-02-2006 10:53 PM

Since I left....plenty of avant-garde stuff. Trevor Wishart more recently, but Stockhausen, Ligeti, Penderecki, and more traditional late 19th/early 20th century stuff like Debussy and Stravinsky too. And I've been going through a MAJOR Belle & Sebastian obsession too.

Right now, though, it's Black Sabbath - Paranoid.

sexymuffin 11-03-2006 12:29 AM

tindersticks - clermont ferrand

Zmev 11-03-2006 02:52 AM

Manic Street Preachers - Everything Must Go

mr_jackalope 11-03-2006 10:54 AM

Tindersticks rule all.

I've been listening to that Disco Inferno crap you were peddling about a month ago DMD. You were completely right, it rules all.

Kyle 11-03-2006 10:56 AM
Took me a long time to realize what an awesome pop song "Heart of Glass" is, but it finally hit me at work today, so I'm checking out Parallel Lines.
I've only just been into that album for the last couple of months, but it's great. I think i'm gonna review it some time.

Also I've been digging;
Cursive - The Ugly Organ
Shpongle - Nothing Lasts...But Nothing Is Lost
Sun O))) and Boris - Altar

mr_jackalope 11-03-2006 11:10 AM

I like the one random almost-country song on Altar. The rest didn't compel me to listen again.

Kyle 11-03-2006 11:27 AM

I havn't listened to it thoroughly yet, but it's really great background music.

asymm 11-03-2006 01:23 PM

Beach House - Beach House
I keep thinking that this will eventually click and it has to a certain extent, but it's still a somewhat muddled listen and occasionally even uninteresting.

Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow
Low - Things We Lost in the Fire
Cocteau Twins - Head Over Heels

It's always funny when Tindersticks get mentioned. DMD and jackalope always express either how great Tindersticks are or how proud they are of the listener.

Cocteau Twins - Head Over Heels
Is that good? I remember hearing a track from it on Untitled; 1970, and intended to make it my next Cocteau Twins purchase, but that plan seems to have fallen by the wayside.

Anyway, I've been continuing to dig plenty of soul, along with the new album Twin Zero managed to sneak out past me; it's even better than their first one, if you like that kind of thing, and Karl Middleton is still one of my favourite vocalists. I also listened to the Wildhearts' Geordie in Wonderland live album for the first time, but didn't dig it all that much. The songs are there (and it's a decent set), but everything else that makes the Wildhearts great (energy, character, banter, etc) seems to be missing. Not to mention the sound quality isn't exactly optimal. The best thing about it is the audience, really, who are spot on as ever, despite not being given much.

I'm also looking forward to digging the new Jools Holland later tonight.

superpeer 11-03-2006 02:09 PM

Boards of Canada
Tangerine Dream

O.o
I'm also looking forward to digging the new Jools Holland later tonight.
Gah, I don't have a TV licence at uni yet, i'm gonna miss the new series :(

Robert Crumb 11-03-2006 02:46 PM

Someone explain this English concept of a TV License to me.

Also, I'm listening to some Talking Heads.

Bartender 11-03-2006 02:48 PM

It's a once a year payment that means we get a couple of channels without adverts.

Robert Crumb 11-03-2006 02:53 PM

TV without ads? Totally un-American, would never fly over here. Sounds nice.

Yeah, it's a great little record. A pretty dark atmosphere, with some of my favorite Cocteau Twins songs.

My physical copy has arrived!
Various - The World Is Gone

Jawaharal 11-03-2006 09:24 PM

Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run
Bruce Springsteen - Live '75-'85

The live version of Badlands is wonderful.

Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway

Meh. There are some great songs like "Salvador Sanchez" and "Gentle Moon" yet the overall product is just boring. I'll have to give it some more listens because this is my first time through.

La Revolucion 11-03-2006 10:07 PM

I just bought that album, and I'm going to have to agree with you.

Lately I've been liking the newest Brazilian Girls album a lot. Jazzy, loungish stuff but not half as boring as it sounds from that description.
