A baritone guitar is a guitar built specifically for downtuning. The scale of the guitar is longer, thereby allowing it to have heavier strings while maintaining string tension.It's a glorified bass guitar in my opinion.

Anyway, why would I buy a baritone guitar and still have to dowtune anyway? The strings i would have to put on it would be too heavy for some of the things I use it for anyway.........I would have to put lighter strings on it and screw with keeping it in tune, readjust the action, etc..........it would just defeat the purpose of buying a guitar to supposedly solve some issue.......I would rather do it the way I do it now-Have a normal guitar, adjust the action, put specific strings on it, tune it the way I want it, and be set. Meh. I don't specifically have an issue with them, i was just being a smartass. But i don't really see the point to them, and I have no particular use for them.......and I do know a lot of untalented(*cough* demonhunter *cough*) bands that use them to make things sound heavy when they should just play better riffs. It's just like 7-string guitars......there's no point: either your bassist is crappy and you're compensating for it or you have nothing better to do than add a string and play simpler riffs.



Note: I like demonhunter and many bands that use these guitars, they just aren't the most talented bunch.

yea, i actually played it today, with a PRS McCarty. Not as nice as my tremonti, but it definitely sold me on the amp

Some lame thing? Well over half of that video was shots of the band playing the song. I don't see any aspect of that video that consitutes "selling out" or "appealing to kidiots".
