On a light note, who enjoys musicals here? I like Les Miserables the best.
I'm not a very big fan of musicals.

Surprising, no?
On a light note, who enjoys musicals here? I like Les Miserables the best.
I haven't actually watched many musicals. I mostly just see other forms of theater.

Though I did enjoy Something's Afoot.

Bazarov 07-09-2005 07:55 PM

I've only seen musicals acted out when I was in middle school. I wasn't fond of them because most of the people couldn't really sing. Though there were some okay ones.

Cain 07-09-2005 07:56 PM
I do. My favorite is Phantom of the Opera; hands down. I haven't seen Les Miserables, but I really want to, as I've heard it's amazing.
I LOVE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.

You'll love Les Mis, it's like the god of serious dramatic musicals. :)

You do?! Awesome! And here I am thinking I'm alone on that one. :thumb:
Did you like the movie? It's awesome.

Steerpike 07-09-2005 07:59 PM

Funny thing is, I've seen both of the old movie versions and read the book, but never seen the musical.

I suppose I should, since it's what inspired Jon Oliva to write Gutter Ballet.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-09-2005 08:00 PM

He's just trying to get into your pants. :naughty:

I actaully have seen the musical and the movie, and I can't say I was too impressed. I love some musicals, I've even been in a couple, but it just seemed to me that it wasn't that great.

Hello thread.

Illmatic 07-09-2005 08:01 PM

The only musical I can safely say I enjoyed was "South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut"

I loved Fiddler on the Roof and The Producers, but that's all I've seen.

I have to see LM some time, have you read the book?

Isn't that the best thing ever? I love that song about the stop-saying-bad-words or something. That cracks me up. "Mkay."

Steerpike 07-09-2005 08:03 PM
I don't think I've heard it.
I could upload the title track if you want.

What would Brian Boitano do if he was here right now? I'm sure he'd kick an ass or two, that's what Brian Boitano'd do!

 That movie is awesome. I loved South Park already when I saw it, but that just made me love it more. I love the fact that they made Satan gay.

Bazarov 07-09-2005 08:07 PM

Yeah I forgot about the South Park movie. I watched that movie last Sunday night when it was uncut and unedited. I didn't find it as funny as I used to.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-09-2005 08:07 PM

Leah- I've seen the movie and musical versions of PotO. I didn't like them. I do like some musicals. I've been in musicals before.

That's what I meant, but I wrote it in a more fragmented, concise fashion. :D

By far one of the funniest episodes of the TV show was the love triangle between Satan, Saddam, and Chris. Just the fact that Satan was dating Chris was hilarious.

I don't think I saw that one! I love the newer one when Kenny actually dies for a reason; because he has to defeat Satan's armies with the *angels singing* Golden Sony PSP. And the head angel kept sniffing the markers. Oh! And the whole Terri Schiavo thing; "He's still Kenny...only more like a tomato." It was so unbelieveably wrong, but it was so funny. That was the best episode I've ever seen.

I have tried to read it, but it is unbelievably convoluted, or else it appeared that way when I tried to read it three or four years ago. :p

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-09-2005 08:13 PM

I like the episode where Cartman eats the chicken skin, and everyone ignores him, then his mom gets boned by the furniture guy, and the only guy that can see Cartman is that skinny kid. I like Comedy Central.

That was indeed hysterical.

Thor 07-09-2005 08:14 PM

My favorite South Park has to be the Halloween episode with Korn. There are so many great parts in that episode.

I'm becoming more of a Family Guy person now, though.

No. :upset: Comedy Central rocks.
I love the episode when Cartman wants to make a boyband. I can't remember what it's called though.
The first episode I ever say was the one when Stan is supposed to beat up the new kid at school and finds out that the kid is Mormon. It tells the whole story of Joseph Smith. :thumb:

EDIT:  It was called Fingerbang.
Really?

Why is that?

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-09-2005 08:19 PM

Eh, not a big fan of Jon Edwards. To me, it's just so redundant. I've said it before, but it's just always like "Hey I'm Jon Edwards, and today I'm going to bash Bush." Okay

Illmatic 07-09-2005 08:19 PM

I dunno. You never really struck me as the kind of person who liked that kind of stuff.

Jake...it's Jon Stewart, not Jon Edwards (you're thinking of former South Carolina senator and John Kerry running mate John Edwards), and he doesn't arbitralily bash Bush.

Cain 07-09-2005 08:19 PM

Ah. ;) Gotcha.

Well, Illmatic.
I'm very political; I love that show, and I will give anyone an earful about what I think is wrong with the government. I worked my ass off at the elections for the Dems, though I didn't feel Kerry was the best candidate. I thought he was the only person who even had the slightest chance of beating Bush, so, that's who I worked for.

I don't know how I could actually "strike" you as anything. It's a little hard to see one's personality or beliefs online. Though I have posted on the politics section a few times.

Isn't Jon Edwards that ghost medium who talks to the dead?

I didn't like anyone in the election this year so I wrote in a vote for Bill Hicks  It's cool that you're interested in politics, I can honestly say that surprised me.

I liked Al Sharpton so much! He was awesome and would've made such a great Democratic candidate. He was so outspoken about what he believed it, and had a great sense of humor. I loved watching him on TV.
