I had a really long dream last night, but I can only remember one small part to it. For some reason, in my dream, I found out what L.K. stood for. It was something really, really long. It's pissing me off that I can't remember what exactly it stood for. It was 2 words and both were really odd words.
AEnima takes a few listens. Just gotta keep listening until you find those great moments in the songs that stand out to you, and soon enough you'll fall in love.
i didn't get into it till i started to listen to each instrument individually and together at once. you need to hear the way they present themselves. |
I still don't get why people are so big on H. It seems pretty mediocre to me.
|
H is lyrically a very powerful song. I think that as one of the less musical pieces on this album we are forced to hear what ole maynard is saying.
To me it is about the complete acceptance of the potential threats involved in trusting someone, again: And as the walls come down and As I look in your eyes My fear begins to fade Recalling all of the times I have died and will die. It's all right. I don't mind. Once you accept the worst possible outcome, there is no longer fear. |

The quality is great on the show, the camra goes in some positions (eg: zooms in on Maynad during the drum solo in The Grudge). I may burn it to dvd, if so I'll inform you. And sure Jake, I'll wait for you. |
Maynard isn't top notch in every song on the OK show. That's really one of my only complaints. His voice sounds weak in Reflection and The Grudge, and a few others.
|
Maynard didn't scream like he does on recording. I was kind of disappoionted by his performance in Part of Me, he just wasn't doing those awesome screams.
And H. is a fantastic song, vocally and lyrically beautiful. The big heavy part after the "I don't miiiiiiiiiiiiind!!!" is killer. |
Hey is anyone eles here a drummer? I just want to tel anyone thats interestd that Dannys sig sticks are amazen!
|
Yeah, I'm a drummer. I've never tried Danny's sticks, they're Pro-Mark?
|
äh... can you wait for me too?
now i am at home and we have a limited internet connection so i can't download much. October i will move to study and i will have an unlimited connection with the 2/3rd october... is this possible? |
Yeah I'll wait.
And Blind they don't play Part Of Me on the OK show. His voice is a little weak on The Grudge, but that scream still gets me going. |
Yeah, I'm a drummer. I've never tried Danny's sticks, they're Pro-Mark?
Na Vic Firth with a cool kinad taperd grip, they are realy realy good(im obiously not going to say ther not but seriously i love em!) :) |
I find it strange how everyone rape's H. so much yeah its great lyrically and all but still.
Also omfg when you learn Eulogy on guitar its depressing even to listen to it, it's so boring to play. Also Jimmy is the best song by FAR on Aenima for me nowaday's probably tomorrow though I will say I hate it. I love that song though it's about maynard being molested when he was eleven wasnt it? |

All I know is it was when it was eleven and all I would write what I think but I am too tired and drunk (sobered up a good bit now though) to say I might tomorrow but I really like Maynard's voice in this song.
|
I've seen H. played amazingly well on a live video, it's a great song. Turn it up, the bassline and everything is really cool, and just how it builds up and explodes, lyrics or not. I couldn't call it mediocre, it's quite original sounding and I very much enjoy it.
jimmy is one of my least favourite songs on Ænima, but to each their own. Any word on the OK show? |
I think like many people here, my favorite tool album rotates between Aenima and Laturalis. One thing that really attracts me to Aenima is the two different styles in the songs. You can easily tell which songs justin wrote and wich ones Paul wrote. I love that about the album, the diversity gets me all they time.
|
Well is there any song you dont like his voice on?(sarcasim intended)
|
Oh ****,sory bout the spammy post above. At one stage i tink almost every Tool song has being my fave,at the moment its Aenima(sory bout the incorrect spelling)But as soon as i hear Hicks and the heart beat itl be Third Eye

Yeah.. they didn't write the songs, they just wrote their parts, I imagine. To be honest, I didn't think it was THAT easy to tell. I seem to remember thinking that either Paul had wrote a more complex sounding one, or Justin had wrote a Paul sounding line when I read who had done what ages ago. Though Justin's ones in general were more complex and melodic. |
A few different anonymous tipsters report that Tool has been confirmed to play next year's Big Day Out festival in Australia, a festival which hits several major cities Down Under. More on this to follow.

Here's a tasty morsel: the guys over at the official Suns of the Tundra site (the band formerly known as Peach, Justin's old band) mentioned something about a live Tool release: "much excitement with the new Tool live album just round the corner, while the boys are finally laying some tracks for the sequel to 'Lateralus' now ..."

According to an article over at ultimate-guitar.com, Maynard will be making an appearance on the soundtrack for Saw II: The SAW II Soundtrack is [...] distinguished by several exclusive tracks, including [...] Lohner's REV 4:20 Mix of "REV 22:20" by Puscifer (the duo of Maynard James Keenan - of Tool and A Perfect Circle - and Lohner himself) [...]. I picked up Lateralus the other day and I'm enjoying it very much. :thumb: I'm looking to pick up another Tool album, which one should I look into getting? My favorite songs off Lateralus are Schism and Parabola if that changes anything.

Ænima, unquestionably. It's their other brilliant album. Undertow and the Opiate EP are good, but not on the same level. |
