I just got the new Guitar World in the mail. It has Hendrix on the cover, so I doubt I'm going to even bother looking at it.

Seriously, they've done a "classic rock special" at least 3 times this year.

So I was in bed earlier today, ill, and my friend suddenly comes in with a large box saying happy birthday (it was my bday 3 months ago) and this was in the box. Sweet!

(its a fretless, elctro-acoustic bass for those who dont care enough to click on the link)

if you have looked at it then excuse me for the mess and broken bedroom furniture

I liked it. Alot. Good nighttime music. It was real catchy without losing it's trippiness.

BTW, I'm uploading something in the YSI thread soon that you might want (or maybe not, idk)

Zappa 08-01-2005 09:25 PM

I can sincerely praise you on a job well-done, JonM. The vocals are a little too Wayne Coyne, maybe, but it's all very well played, and interesting to listen to.

The vocals were very Wayne Coyne. I liked it.

I concur.

Well thank you! I wanted to redo the vocals, since I sort of came home hung over and shouted them into the microphone in one take, but the guy I was working with convinced me that that was exactly the point. We're working on an EP-length thing, and I'll post the progress.

JonM 08-01-2005 09:44 PM

And thanks to you all. Especially you, my snidget, for one of the best leaks of all the amazing leaks we've gotten our hands on around here.

I'm dangerously close to 1K! It'll make me look like someone who's actually been around for a lil while. Around all these crazy 10-15Kers...

Zappa 08-01-2005 11:42 PM

People who think that metaphors and similes are always a good way to strengthen the clarity and effect of their writing tend to piss me off. Comparing something's beauty to a flower, something's brightness to sunshine, etc., does not make anything more clear or more interesting; it makes it redundant and trite. Metaphors, by their very nature, are meant to be specific. When the most specific of adjectives do not properly or fully express your idea, more extreme measures of comparison may be needed. If you don't write to express yourself, you're wasting everyone's time.

Where did this literary rant stem from?

Zappa 08-01-2005 11:45 PM

It was a comment I saw on live journal that just sort of pissed me off. I put that in my own live journal, but for some reason I felt like posting it here, too.
