Don't you be dissing the Coil now. You find me 5 people as hot/hotter than Cristina Scabbia in metal that WEREN'T in Revolver's 13 sexiest metal maidens issue, and I'll stop bothering you.

I didn't bash her looks, which are quite hot.

I was pointing out how bad live they are and beyond basic to where the guitarist can use one/two fingers to play most of the song. lol. The male singer is awful live as well. Christina sings quite well live though, nothing wrong there.
He also likes Lamb of God and Hatebreed. I have little respect for him as a music listener, all the good stuff he used to listen to like Stratovarius and Manowar is dead to him, and I HATE American Metal to a pretty large extent.
That's unfortunate. You're disregarding an extremely wide range of bands with a single generalization.

I was hoping for something beyond that. :(

Just tell me one thing: what is the tuning for the song?

CGCFAD

I play it in DADGBE and just drop it down a step.

Shadows 03-15-2006 09:04 PM

Sweet, thanks. The second 6lb tab sounds like what it has is correct. Now all I need is the first solo and I'm set.

MRDuCran 03-15-2006 09:34 PM

One tab there is complete, and quiet accurate.

I'm Charming 03-15-2006 10:07 PM

I was messing around with different tunings today and having quite a lot of fun. So I tried drop B and shockingly it wasn't slack. I remembered it being far looser than it actually was. Damn it was heavy lawl. Very heavy. This considered maybe I'll try CGCFAD tomorrow. I'm quite attached to DADGBE though. haha.

Yeah... I had remembed it being so much looser and the strings being slack. It wasn't though. Drop B is teh secks for jamming.

AA-12 03-15-2006 11:12 PM
and people say Dream Theater stands around playing and is boring live... haha

Try Lacuna Coil . They stand there like sticks... Not to mention what they are playing is beyond basic. The guitarist was playing the riff with one finger... hahahahaha. The bassist never even has to move his fingers/hand.
lawl.
Hell yeah. I'd enjoy seeing DT over most bands.

Yeah, Coil is pretty terrible.

Try CGCGBE----that's the tuning my band plays in.

It's quite useful.

AA-12 03-15-2006 11:18 PM

CGCGBE is just weird, haha.
CGCGBE is just weird, haha.
Not really. It's just half drop C ( for heavier rythms) and half standard (because I like my high pitched solos).

I creates a whole really badass sounding range of chords too. Perfect for Melodic Death metal :thumb:

I'm still a sucker for Coil. I love Christina Scabbia's voice. I just tune out the guitarists, it was so synthed on Comalies... You could barely hear the guitars in most places. Which was fine with me.

Both DT's are the shit. Dream Theater and Dark Tranquiltty.

The difference to point out though is, Petrucci is actually playing something and would rather nail it, then look cool. The idiots in LC should be able to play that on a rollercoaster just fine.

That's a weirdass tuning. You're half standard and half drop C - make up your mind. God forbid you should try to stay in key.

touche.

That's a really odd tuning.

That has nothing to do with playing in key. It would really mess up the shape of the scale though.

I know, that's what I meant. There would be quite a shift in fingering.

I'd never heard of that tuning. Any you think of any band that uses it or something like it?

Invicta_Veritas 03-16-2006 01:58 AM

Why is everyone making a deal of it? It works perfect for my band. And I build awesome solos off of it.

Recordings please.

Invicta_Veritas 03-16-2006 02:16 AM

Soon-----we are reworking our demo (amidst many complaints and suggestions musically) and will have it up on our site within a couple months, along with the rest of a full-length lp.......

But if you truly want to hear a crappy demo, be my guest

http://www.myspace.com/forthisibleed

"A Shade of Grey" is the better one I think......I screwed up the solo in "Burn" by putting way too much wet reverb on the guitar.......one of many mistakes and wrongdoings on that demo.....

Sometime this week or next I will be doing the short Instrumental fillers for the album to kick off recording......you'll be able to hear electric and clean in CGCGBE.....we'll probably post them on there......

Tell that to everyone else........so, CGCGBE isn't as bad as you thought?:smoke:

(of course, with that tuning i have to be very picky with my brands as far as strings go)

Why? You want thicker for CGC and lighter for GBE?

I was never against the tuning, I just didn't see it working. Where did you come up with the idea to play in that tuning?

Invicta_Veritas 03-16-2006 02:40 AM

Well, in combination with the fact that I've naturally got higher tension on the top end and lower on the bottom, I also play a lot of pinch harmonics. I've found a couple brands of strings (GHS tnt's, Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom's) that hold tuning and last longer than others. But yea, that's most of it.

I really honestly dont remember. I think when I was first experimenting with full drop c, I got lazy and didn't want to downtune the rest one day, and it just created a whole new range of chords and stuff, so I kept it. Started writing songs in it, and haven't wanted to go back ever since.

dest. Chaos 03-16-2006 06:50 AM

or what about just leave it in fucking E standard tuning?

7-Up 03-16-2006 09:06 AM

= ) ..

Invicta_Veritas 03-16-2006 10:50 AM

^^^^Not a thick enough tone.......why do you think bands downtune in the first place?

7-Up 03-16-2006 11:21 AM

thinkness, heavyness, darkness.
