Can't find a tape delay schematic. I did find one for a sweet, simple ring modulator, so I'll probably give that one a try too. It's compact enough to probably fit in an MXR-sized enclosure.
|
A multi-tap tape delay would be bloody huge I think .
Picturing several VCRs taped together. |
So, for the past week, I've been composing my first tapping piece on my 8-string. It's incredibly frustrating and exciting at the same time.
|
One finger per string?

Ish? I don't tap with my right pinky, but I don't generally tap my F# string either. |
Post when finished.

Shit, now the pressure is on to make it good.
Today I decided that I hate Australia because the Sick Puppies are, barre none, the best band on the mainstream rock radio station. |

He doesn't even sound Australian any more. And the drummer's a yank. And the chick's half Asian. A babe though. I do like their older stuff much better than their latest album. Did have a few good tracks though. |
It's not really hate, just envy. And even if the singer has a less Australian voice and they're never stuff is sh*t by comparison, my point still stands.
Yes, she is a babe, and she plays a Warwick. |
I never knew Sick Puppies were Australian or that they were a thing at all.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKnTw0kAbo8 I do quite like a bit of Sick Puppies. |
And I apologise for how atrocious the CC video clip is. Only one I could find that doesn't claim some kind of copyright shit. Damn that youtube.
|
They pull off the three-piece thing so well. My dad always gives me shit for preferring to play in three-piece bands, but I like the sonic space it opens up.
|
Three piece bands are fun.
It has drawbacks of course but everything has positives and negatives. |
It's true. The hardest part, in my opinion, is filling in for the rhythm guitar when the guitarist wants to solo. If I can find a decent octave pedal with a separate output for the octave, I could reasonably match the guitar tone and send it all back through my cab.
EDIT: Hey look, the MicroPog does that too. Even more of a reason to get it. |
Just don't have solos. They're so 1986.
|
Also, I always thinkt hat adding an octave up on bass sounds really synthetic. I think I'd be happier playing everything an octave higher, and using an octave down pedal instead.

That's always an option too. And it opens up the option of an MXR M288, which is about half the price of the Micro Pog, except that it doesn't have dedicated wet and dry outs. |
Make a passive splitter box. If you're thinking of building a distortion box, that kind of thing should be easy enough?

I've been trying to piece together how it would work. The best idea I've come up with is to simply use two small 2-channel mixers to split, run the effects parallel, and recombine them. I might be able to do it with a passive mixer, but I believe the impedance mismatch post-FX will require something active. |
Uhm, you need a Boss LS-2.

I thought about that. It will depend on whether or not I decided to get the MXR or the MicroPOG. |
regardless, everyone needs an ls-2 :)
i think i'm gonna buy a mesa strategy 400, and run a pod straight into it. I don't wanna sell my matamp to afford it though :( |

Splitter boxes are incredibly handy. Great for teaching if you use them backwards.
I wish there was a box that let you go either, signal A, B, or A+B. |

The LS-2 is actually for FX loops (like the send and return on your amp). It has the ability to do bypass, FX loop A, FX loop B, and (IIRC) FX loop A+B. Almost the same, but a little different. |
That's pretty sick dude, cheers. It's great to be able to mute a student when you need to haha. But also great to be able to both play at once.
Eden are making a new line of amps designed for two inputs/two channels at once kind of thing which is also pretty excellent for teaching. http://www.eden-electronics.com/products/metromix/ |
Haven't posted here in awhile, but goodbye to my beloved basses. Someone broke into my apartment last night and stole all 3, my computer monitor, and 2 of my roommates guitars. Fuck people
Just dropped a set of Dimarzio PJ's into my P deluxe too. Damn |
:( sorry to hear that, man. What'd you have?

Stupid people. Passed up on my xbox, external hard drive, etc., and also stole a random collection of broken mp3 players and phones |
