Oh... thats hard... thats my 2 favourite albums.. i cant realy say wich is the best, but Iron Maiden is an exelent album, wich i think is one of the first albums any maiden fan should get...
I'll wind up getting all of them, but I'll get "Killers" and "Iron Maiden" the next chance I get. Thanks for the help.

Thunder Fingers 12-17-2005 03:18 PM

I think you should get Iron Maiden and The X factor.... cause out of IronMaiden and Killers, Iron Maiden is the better one(slightly, but ill give Iron Maiden the lead just becouse of "prowler" and "phantom of the opera")
and i think you should get The X factor, so you have something from all maiden eras...

PepsiMetal 12-17-2005 03:42 PM

Am I the only one that likes bruce more than paul and blaze? At least for maiden, most songs bruce did are better imo. Plus his vocals fit maiden more.

Bruce is the best, mainly because he is just awesome, but Paul and Bruce were great as well, for the albums they did. the 2 Blaze albums are awesome.

GenuineImitation 12-17-2005 04:03 PM

I havent heard any songs other than the ones Bruce did, but Im sure they wont be as good.

I've heard Iron maiden, and didn't like it much, but when I saw Rock in Rio, and Bruce did it, it sounded much better. I guess I just like his vocals more.

Paul's vocals are more...raw than Bruce's, i suppose. Blaze sounds quite dark and evil some of the time as well, he adds a lot to the atmosphere of songs.

Thunder Fingers 12-17-2005 04:21 PM

well.. iron maiden is more of a live song, sounds better that way... but the entire iron maiden album should be remixed...
Paul have/had a realy good voice, wich fitted Maiden of that era best, luckily he went when he went, i dont think NOTB would be that good with his voice, wouldnt have made the same... Impact.

Iron Maiden is just an anthem, you have to sing it at the top of your voice when you're there. Paul was definitely good for his era, but his style wasn't right for NOTB, IMO he would never have done well on HBTN.

YDload 12-17-2005 04:32 PM

I'll say what I've said before, which is that Paul improved immensely from S/T to Killers, but his improved voice was too reminiscent of Rob Halford. To survive, Maiden needed to show that they were different than Judas Priest, and Steve's bass playing and literary songwriting could only take the band so far. Vocals are what's most important in a band for most people (like the pop music crowd who decide how big a band can be), so they had to have a singer who was good but not with the same style as Halford. That's where Bruce comes in.

Thunder Fingers 12-17-2005 04:37 PM

Well... Paul wasnt kicked becouse he sounded like someone else, Paul was kicked becouse he didnt want it, he didnt want to be a big rockstar, it was to much for him to handle, some nights he was just sitting on the side of the stage singing, he wasnt in to it, and thats the thing Steve always have demanded from the band, Love what your doing. so it was just a "coincident" that it happened at the time it did, but Paul was dragging maiden down with him, and they couldnt go on like that...

It was much the same with Clive when he left..

i like Bruce more than Paul and Blaze, but they're all great in their own way. Bruce has his incredible range, Paul has the rough gritty vocals, and Blaze has deep, powerful, emotional vocals.

Thunder Fingers 12-17-2005 05:23 PM

I have the feeling that most people like Bruces Vocals more than the others(why did record sales suddenly go sky high when he joined, ok, the songs are brilliant, But, im pretty sure it wouldnt have sounded as good with paul, and therefore wouldnt sell as much, and as said numerously times in "Run to the Hills" i am also pretty sure that maiden wouldnt have been around if Paul had continued In Maiden, or if anyone else than bruce had replaced him.

PepsiMetal 12-17-2005 07:22 PM

What has been said in Run to the hills?

ashman 12-17-2005 09:55 PM

Most people like Bruce better, but i for one will always be Paul>bruce :chug:

IMO i think paul would have sounded great on NOTB. Of course maybe not for HBTN but remember steve usually wrote his songs according to the singers range and style. But yah, theres no telling if he woulpd have wrote the song the it is.
That's one of my favourite Bruce songs ever
Whos the other guy playin with him... It sounds eally good, imma gonna have to get into more bruce.

Oh god, Ill never post in here again. :p
Sorry, my mistake.

And thanks for the songs.

PepsiMetal 12-17-2005 10:08 PM

I love hallowed be thy name, and I would recommend songs like aces high, run to the hills, wasted years, the trooper, dream of mirrors, no more lies, brave new world, etc... The trooper never gets old. It's on the piece of mind album I think. Brave new world album is also great.

Oh and 2 Minutes to Midnight is an amazing song also.
Yeah, I guess your right. Which would one would be a good starting point then ?
To start off with maiden its best to stick with the bruce albums for now. So the following albums i would reccomend buying would be:
brave new world
dance of death
powerslave
seventh son of a seventh son
pieve of mind
or of course you would just buy your brothers number of the beast albums.

by the way have you heard any other maiden ?
