I went to a lovely show at the coffeehouse tonight to see my friend Nick and this girl play. The first show was really good, and then for the second show they brought in another singer who sounded too opera and musical-y and bad.

It's a good thing [I]Out To Lunch[/I] is like absolutely stellar. Also, I like how it's both Dolphy's most notorious [I]and[/I] his actual best. In the jazz world, those two don't always seem to match.

I just finished Listen to Out to Lunch and I think this deserves a few more listens tonight. First impression is that it's quite interesting...

It's an alien sort of record. It makes sense to few, I think, and I don't count myself among them.

Ever get it when you really feel like listening to some music but there is absolutely nothing in your collection that feels right for the mood that you're in at the moment thus tiding you over with a sense of inadaquecy?

Yeah. My review of Gentlemen got put on the front page a few months back.

Well, last night I went out for mine & my mate's birthday party, got so ludicrously smashed that I threw up outside a nightclub, got poured into a taxi by my girlfriend, threw up all over that too, and had to wash it myself to avoid a fine. I'm just glad that's the last of my mate's birthdays I have to face before I have the 'I'm a student with no money' excuse. I'm too easily persuaded and I get carried away.

We can agree that I have the best desktop ever, yes?

Yeah. Sometimes I never listen to one song all the way through because it instantly bores me.
