Just so you know, this thread doesn't have to constantly be on the go.
If you continuosly force topics of conversation in here then it's gonna get old, fast.
Thats also what I thought. Fight fire with fire only 2/5? doesnt make sense to me.
Am i the only person that doesn't like fight fire with fire?

shadow_stalker 02-25-2005 10:05 AM

Oh well life goes on.

KILO5203 02-25-2005 10:13 AM

i used to not like FFWF, but it grew on me

shadow_stalker 02-25-2005 10:15 AM

I just don't like the way the way he sings it.

IAJP 02-25-2005 10:47 AM

My favourite Metallica album (out of the two I have :upset: ) is Kill 'Em All.
I have that and "...And Justice For All"

KILO5203 02-25-2005 10:49 AM
When I got Ride the Lightning I didnt like it, and I didnt really like FFWF. The singing was part of the reason I didnt like it.
when i first got it i didnt like it either. back then i was stuck on the black album. i think thats almost every new metallica fan's favorite for a while.

Joe 02-25-2005 10:53 AM
Hey does anyone in here know if Jason Newsted played with a pick or if he played slap? My band's doing a cover of Blackened and i ant the baseline to sound affectic.
He uses a pick. My bassist always comments on how he has no respect for bassists that use picks.
when i first got it i didnt like it either. back then i was stuck on the black album. i think thats almost every new metallica fan's favorite for a while.
Well I first liked Enter Sandman. Some of my friends played Fade to Black on guitar so I downloaded fade to black. Then I went to the store and was stuck between the Black Album and Ride the Lightning (on black i liked NEM and ES and on RTL i liked FTB) and I decided to go with Ride the Lightning. I really didn't like FFWF because of the singing, but the rest of the songs I liked a lot. So yea, my favorite album ever since I started being a Metallica fan has been Ride the Lightning

KILO5203 02-25-2005 10:57 AM

my favorite album is always changing. its always either KEA, RTL, MOP, or AJFA though. right now its KEA.

Joe 02-25-2005 11:15 AM
My first Metallica album was St. Anger which I liked. Next I bought ...AJFA which was a big change that took some getting used to.
A change for the best right? What do you think? Since you liked St. Anger and the rest were a change for you. Was it a good change or bad to go sololess etc?

munky_magik 02-25-2005 11:16 AM

I think he meant it was a big change from St Anger to Ajfa.

Joe 02-25-2005 11:29 AM

YES!!! I can finally play all of one! I could have just jacked off for a week straight...that'd make the alt. picking so much easier... but instead i just practiced for a long time, lol.

It's not that bad when you keep practicing it...

Joe 02-25-2005 11:35 AM
Sweet, youve got the solo aswell?
well i got, but i was just lookin at the tab. i should try it in like an hour just to see if i've got it memorized... but yes i finally have it

KILO5203 02-25-2005 11:38 AM

i wish i could play solos. i can only play the easy ones, like at the beginning of fade to black, one, and sanitarium

Joe 02-25-2005 11:39 AM
i wish i could play solos. i can only play the easy ones, like at the beginning of fade to black, one, and sanitarium
i don't have fade to black down yet. it's that one really fast part in the intro i don't have quite down, but almost. i can play the other two. i can't play the main sanitarium solo, it's pretty fast

KILO5203 02-25-2005 11:42 AM

yeah i have trouble with that same part in FTB. i can't play any main solos, just the intro ones. too fast

btoto 02-25-2005 11:51 AM

That's great ! congratulations on that man. I also learned that song but it was so long ago that I don't even know if I can play it the way I did. :upset:

BTW, can you play that melodic part in the middle??? the one that comes right before getting heavy.

I think it's impossible to make it sound right without second guitar. The only part I never bothered to learn

the melodic solo? i can play that. the part that i don't think ill memorize is right after the last chorus before the alt. picking

btoto 02-25-2005 12:06 PM

Not the melodic solo, I mean that part after last chorus and before the alt. pick. as you said.

I also never bothered to learn that

metallifan78 02-25-2005 12:25 PM

I doubt it. Probably next year, after their new album comes out

haha to tell you the truth, I don't learn "other" music anymore. I'm very much into writing my own stuff. Somehow, that hunger of learning all 'tallica albums disappeared.

But I'll look into it if you say it's OK to play that by one guitar.
Thanks a lot :thumb:
