EMG's are very good for metal, but have no versatility. You're not gonna get nice jazz clans outta them or anything. Also, from what I've heard the clean sound on them isn't meant to be all that great.

ArcLite 01-27-2005 03:12 AM

I've also heard about lacking clean sound, but like I said, the times I play clean are few and far between. I definitely want an 81 in the bridge, but I'm not sure if a 85 or 60 would be better in the neck.
Metal-Archives is starting to really piss me off. Ever since I saw that they allowed Mastodon to be labeled "Progressive Sludge/Fusion Metal" I've been annoyed with them.
Why?

Hello, anyone who's here.

ArcLite 01-27-2005 05:34 AM

As always. How's it going? As you can see my problem tonight is working out this guitar pickup situation. You play?

Bartender 01-27-2005 05:35 AM

Nope, or I probably would have commented already.

ArcLite 01-27-2005 05:38 AM

Indeed. What's new, more fun school work?

BoboTheRagingHobo 01-27-2005 05:40 AM

Does Bartender even play any insturments?
Indeed. What's new, more fun school work?
I missed a tutorial at 9am..

I have to go in for a couple of hours later on though. Jesus at 2pm, Samurai at 3.
Does Bartender even play any insturments?
Not any more. I used to play guitar (just acoustic though, and even that not very diligently) and piano (until we moved house).

BoboTheRagingHobo 01-27-2005 05:48 AM

Why did you quit playing the guitar?

Bartender 01-27-2005 05:49 AM

Just kind of lost interest, I think.

BoboTheRagingHobo 01-27-2005 05:52 AM

Eh', thats kinda whats happening to me right now...losing interest as well. Hopefully I won't lose full interest in it though.

Bartender 01-27-2005 05:54 AM

Well I never was really into it at first, anyway, but it was something I could carry on trying to play once piano was no longer an option (and no, keyboard wasn't an option either).

Anyway. Arcturus are playing tonight :(

BoboTheRagingHobo 01-27-2005 05:57 AM

You must go! It's Arcturus!

/would kill to see them

ArcLite 01-27-2005 05:59 AM

I'm saving my "kill to go" ammo for the AC/DC tour.

It's sold out, and it's in London.

BoboTheRagingHobo 01-27-2005 06:09 AM

Lame!

Bartender 01-27-2005 06:11 AM

Incredibly. Supported by Enslaved, Grimfist, Madder Mortem and Red Harvest, too.

BoboTheRagingHobo 01-27-2005 06:13 AM

Whoa...alot of support acts, especially enslaved.

Well on a lighter note, Faster Fingers sent me Lykathea Aflame - Elvenfris, and I have to say this album is purely brilliant...the last track is incredibly relaxing as well.

ArcLite 01-27-2005 06:14 AM

what genre are they? I recall their name but am not familiar with them.

Bartender 01-27-2005 06:15 AM

^Technical/brutal death metal, but with a lot of melody too. And a very good drummer.

Yeah, it is a very good album.

BoboTheRagingHobo 01-27-2005 06:17 AM
what genre are they? I recall their name but am not familiar with them.
Well, they have middle eastern and jazz influences in their music, with bits of grind and death...

Sorta like Opeth in a way. they go from calm acoustic things, into brutal death metal and grind, then right back into soothing. It's really cool stuff, and their drummer has the same style as Flo from Cryptopsy in a way, and the drums stand out big time and add alot of the music.

ArcLite 01-27-2005 06:20 AM

Interesting...Melodic, Opeth-like, Sounds to my liking.

Heres one song, going to upload another. And they are more brutal when it comes to the death metal side of things then Opeth, just the song structure is kinda the same way.

Heres another song.

ArcLite 01-27-2005 06:29 AM

Hmm, very different, but I like it. The middle-eastern sound is cool. I may be picking this one up. Thanks for the introduction.

BoboTheRagingHobo 01-27-2005 06:34 AM

I also got a Diabolical Masquerade album from Pig's the other day, the album Nightwork, and wow this is very cool album. Also got Death's Design, very weird album with the whole 61 tracks and like 20 movements.

icebase 01-27-2005 06:42 AM

Dudes do you know who rise against are. They are a christian rock band and either way their bassist is like holy **** and they well are just great. If you wanted to get one of their tracks it should be Like an Angel.

dUSK 01-27-2005 06:53 AM

I think your in the wrong place mate. This isn't really a thread for recommendations.

It's a terrible thing when fanboyism short circuits Grammar

munky_magik 01-27-2005 07:51 AM

On another note, I think my computer is screwed. For some obscure reason it has decided to not output a monitor signal so I can't see what the hell I'm doing. Stupid computer
