Captain Dan - Authentic Pirate Hip Hop

Luxor 10-22-2006 06:58 PM

I like Red House Painters a lot. I should probably listen to Sun Kil Moon.

Little Man being Erased 10-22-2006 07:00 PM

The Smiths - Louder Than Bombs
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Damn the Torpedoes
Cursive - Happy Hollow
Whiskeytown - Faithless Street

Damn, I had a theme going on there for the first two and didn't even realise.

NoU - 13 Point Plan to Destroy America

Happymeal 10-22-2006 10:48 PM

Mirah - Advisory Committee

Mostly standard female singer/songwriter stuff so far. Nice opener though.

Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway

I'd like to say that I listened to all the songs thoroughly to form an acceptable opinion about this album but really, "Duk Koo Kim" rapes every other song here. And most songs out there for that matter.

pixiesfanyo 10-22-2006 11:08 PM

dick sucking can get you far tonys.

Happymeal 10-22-2006 11:10 PM

If I could only do that with NoU =(

Psychic TV - Dreams Less Sweet

Finally found this, and it's pretty neat so far. I've gotta explore the Throbbing Gristle continuum more thoroughly.

mr_jackalope 10-22-2006 11:29 PM

Bad Brains - Bad Brains
Three 6 Mafia - The Most Known Unknowns
Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway
Black Flag - Damaged

All are terrific albums.

Zappa 10-23-2006 08:46 PM

Various artists - Bali: Gamelan and Kecak
Shu-De - Voices from the Distant Steppe

The second is Mongolian overtone singing. The first should be obvious.

TAND 10-23-2006 08:54 PM

Make Yourself style Incubus... not sure where to put them... but it's good ****.

JonM 10-23-2006 09:06 PM

I played through that whole album today. I almost know all of it for two instruments and vocals now. Is that ridiculous?

Robert Crumb 10-23-2006 09:06 PM

Curtis Mayfield/Impressions/Momus/Pere Ubu.

TAND 10-23-2006 09:23 PM

That is ridic. but that's pretty sweet. I only know bass. I'm still learning guitar.

Little Man being Erased 10-23-2006 10:42 PM

Primal Scream - Screamadelica

Fantastic album.

mr_jackalope 10-23-2006 11:21 PM

Yet you still don't listen to the Beach Boys, the heirs to the Four Tops legacy.

Jacaranda 10-23-2006 11:28 PM
Four Tops - Essential Collection

these guys are responsible for literally every single R&B song, ever. I can't believe all the stuff they've done that I've always known, but never known the artist until now.
They are fantastic. shame i only have them on vinyl. Smokey Robinson and the Miracles and The Four Seasons are also to very classy groups.

pixiesfanyo 10-23-2006 11:32 PM

James Brown played math rock.

pixiesfanyo 10-24-2006 07:48 AM
