Friggin Blackwater Park, man. How can you not like stuff off of that?
|
Or My Arms Your Hearse, that's their most emotional album imo. So great, but Blackwater Park is a lot easier to get into.
|
MAYH - Ghost Reveries - Morningrise
Nothing against Morningrise, it's just... less accesible than the other albums, in my opinion. |
JamJar.... My Arms Your Hearse is pre-Still Life .
I'm gonna go with Mazeppa though, Orchid - Still Life > Blackwater Park and forward, though the newer stuff is still damn good... I just like the older stuff more, it's more traditional metal for one thing, and it's just written better for another (in my opinion, and no, it's not just a bunch of riffs thrown together, shut up). |

Sorry I misread the post :upset: It still owns everyone no matter what. |

To be honest I'm still not that familiar with the other albums, it's just that when I listened to them I wasn't really struck the way I was when I first listened to The Moor. So I probably just went and listened to some classical instead or something :p |
How dare thee! The Moor is quite a powerful song.
|
The Moor is awsome. I never got around to finish learning it.

Yeah, Opeth songs do that to you. I've learned tons of random riffs by them, but I can't say I can play a single song by them all the way through. |
The only Opeth songs I've learnt all the way through are Demon Of The Fall, The Drapery Falls and Blackwater Park. Apart from that I just know random riffs here and there.
|

I plan on finishing it sometime. Don't know when, but I plan too. |

Blackwater Park would be a great song to learn. It's got so many catchy and heavy riffs in it. I bet it took a while to get all the way down, though. I know almost all of the parts in The Leper Affinity, minus the acoustic part. |

Yeah, the only parts I never got round to learning were the solo and the acoustic outro. Overall the riffs aren't that hard but it took quite a while to learn. |

The triplet riff at 2:10 took me forever to get down, but the rest isn't all that bad. They're incredibly fun to play, though. |
All the way through, I can play Demon of the Fall and I just learned In My Time of Need yesterday...
I can also play a bunch of riffs, including most of The Drapery Falls and Closure... The next song I want to learn is Closure. I've attempted many times, but that crazy third riff always halts my progress. I can never get it to sound as clean as Akerfeldt does... |
**** yeah, man!
No matter how bad of a day I've had, when I listen to that song, I feel vindication. \m/  \m/ |
Eh I know a few full songs by Opeth...
In my time of need, The drapery falls, on my way into The leper affinity, Bleak, and almost there with Serenity painted death. |
I think I'm going to listen to my Opeth cd to sleep that I made with a bunch of songs from the albums I don't have.
Should be fun. |
Yeah, I think I'm going to sleep to the hearse tonight.
\m/  \m/ |
Do you have an Opeth shirt for each album aswell ? :p
|
I have a black tee with a large white band pic on the back, white Opeth logo on front, a black tee with band pic on front red Opeth logo on front as well and tour locations on the back I got from the 2004 tour and the GR tee from the concert a few months ago.
|
I have a Blackwater Park tshirt. One of my favorite shirts actually. Just the album cover on the front, with tour dates on the back.
|
Ah ok, then.
I don't own any Opeth shirt...yet. I don't know which one I want though. |

Nice. :) I know exactly what shirt you're talking about, and I want it badly. |
Yep. She's a goodun.

I got the '06 tour shirt from their show. |
Which one? There were 5 different shirts at the show I went to. I got the GR one with the faded Gold extended skull on the back, no tour dates and the band/Opeth logo in Gold glitter on the front.

Ita has Opeth in green letters and tour dates on back (thats what I meant from "the tour shirt). My brother bought their still life shirt, and we both bought the DT shirt that has a monarch crast and says character on front with tour date on back. Funny thing about it is I wore DT shirt to Music Theory one day and some girl asked me if I bought that from Express. |
Silly people.
I need more bands t-shirts. I have a beat-up Godsmack one. And it's Hot Topic. :upset: I know. |
