Today is a great day for music in my world
Went to this awesome shop in Baltimore, and got: Blue Cheer - Outsideinside Cornelius - Fantasma And my friend got Just Ice - Cool and Deadly Mr Lif - I Phantom Then we went back to his place, and I copied the Just Ice album, plus got: People Under the Stairs - S/t Refused - Shape of Punk To Come ( I have been wanting this forever) J Dilla - Donuts |
I am actually really enjoying Mr. Beast by Mogwai now. I downloaded it a while back and didn't become moved that much by it. But my parents bought me it while they were out of town, and now I like it much better.
|
People Under The Stairs are tight, aren't they?
|
It's been a summery feeling today.
Phoenix - United Broken Social Scene - s/t Murs & Slug - Felt 2 (newfound appreciation for this one) |

Definantly. |
I'm listening to the Match Point soundtrack. It's a compilation of opera by Bizet, Donizetti, Rossini and Verdi. I've never been a big fan of opera before, but I'm really enjoying this.
|
My mom watched that movie last night, and from the other room I was really annoyed by the opera. Ugh.
|
You should have watched the movie with her, it owns.
I'm a little slow, but Gnarls Barkley is awesome. I'm sure I've been hearing "Crazy" on the radio. I just listened to Remission by Mastodon. |
Someone gave my a copy of the TV on the Radio leak. I'll be listening to that later. And Lupe Fiasco. Big buzz mainstream hip hop backpacker type if you're not in the know. Not a fan of his voice but he's got a good flow, nice beats to work with. He'll probably be the next "savior of mainstream rap" titleholder and victim of general overhype. Then again, that's not much of a prediction since it's pretty much already the case.

Fugazi - 13 Songs
Justin Timberlake - Justified Haha, odd combination, I know. |
Cat Power - Moon Pix
This is so good. |
Lupe Fiasco
I really like that little bit part of his in "Touch the Sky." |
Yep, good spot. Even though I don't really like the song.
And the TVotR stuff kinda sucks. I'm sad. I hope they radically change it all magically in the month or whatever until it's released. |
Holy fuck I love The Organ.
|
wtf Last.fm?
|
wtf Last.fm?
Has your LastFm updated itself yet? Because mine hasn't. |
Mine hasn't either. Bastards.
|
Mine hasn't either. Bastards.
They must be having trouble updating their database or something. Annoying. |
MY last.fm always updates on time ;)
|
The New Pornographers - Mass Romantic
Camera Obscura - Underachievers Please Try Harder The Velvet Underground - Loaded Such an enjoyable day. |
Right now I'm diggin Palmless Prayer / Mass Murder Refrain by Mono & World's End Girlfriend--two Japanese post rock bands.
I found the album on the last.fm message boards. If you go to the Godspeed You! Black Emperor group board, you can find a megaupload thread with a lot of really good post rock albums. |
Listened to tons of music today practially all day:
Iron And Wine - The Sea & Rhythm EP Beulah - When Your Hearstrings Break Idaho - Three Sheets To The Wind Xiu Xiu - Fabulous Muscles Gun Club - Death Party EP Echo & The Bunnymen - Ocean Rain The Mountain Goats - Tallahassee |

Listen to it a few more times. |
Probably good advice.
Interspersing indie rock with Ennio Morricone at the moment. It's like there's a dramatic gun fight in my ears and someone invited Bob Pollard! |
Nomeansno - Wrong
Holy fucking shit. This is certainly one ass kicking album. Awesome awesome awesome. |
The Fall
Awesome post-punk. Look for a thread by me about these guys in the near future. |

Holy fucking shit. This is certainly one ass kicking album. Awesome awesome awesome.
Dude, welcome to my life circa 2004 or something. Anyway, yeah, it rules. |
Yeah, it took me quite a while to finally give in and download the beast. 'Cause I don't usually download albums, unless I have no other option.
p.s. avatar wtf |
Recently, I've started to get into some of Seattle's and the NW's local groups. Specifically, Crystal Skulls (from seattle, can find them at www.crystalskullsonline.com) and The Helio Sequence (from portland, www.theheliosequence.com). They are also both on myspace if you want to find them there.
I was lucky enough to catch both of these bands in concert in Seattle, but just by chance. I had heard that the Silversun Pickups (a band out of L.A.) were coming to town, and, having just started listening to them, I was definately set on going. I honestly was blown away when the Crystal Skulls and The Helio Sequence took the stage later. Absolutely amazing. These are two amazing bands. You should all definately check them out. |
Circle Takes The Square - As The Roots Undo
I think this is my favourite album ever. I'm going to dig Purple Rain a bit later, because I found a cheap copy of it in a pawn shop the other day. I already had a copy, but I bought to give to my friend. I'm going to refresh my memory of it and see if she likes it. |
