I'd consider screamo and emo two different but very similar genres:

Screamo = Off Minor, Neil Perry, Orchid

Emo = Sinaloa, Faraquet, Brainworms, Burned Out Bright

That's my opinion, though. It's open to debate.

Hell, I should make an official "The Emo and Screamo Debate" thread.

-Gav
Yeah that's cool, I just disagree. I mean, I see it all being under one roof. The roof of Emo. Screamo is the more chaotic stuff, it's a useful term when you're describing a certain band, but I just don't feel it constitutes a legit genre separate from Emo. A sub-genre I can handle, but something outside of Emo, no sir.

Luxor 08-07-2006 05:09 PM

I don't even see why there are two different community threads in the first place

cbmartinez 08-07-2006 05:10 PM

Just call it the "Emo/Pop-Punk Thread" to throw everyone off.

Luxor 08-07-2006 05:12 PM

How about emucore/screamotional

k1ckthecat 08-07-2006 05:18 PM

does anyone know if the song "Fire...Death" on Funeral Diner's Difference of Potential has a guest vocalist?

from ~3:00 to 4:45 it sounds like a different, familiar vocalist.....

Luxor 08-07-2006 05:23 PM
I don't even see why there are two different community threads in the first place
Because Gruffz and Skramz can never get along.

I don't like the new name because regardless of your opinion on whether screamo is a genre or not, it is kind of redundant to say both. Plus /'s piss me off.

Wow 08-07-2006 05:42 PM

Change it, brain. Neeshee and I demand it.

...

Please.

It's probably their bassist, he did some backing vocals every now and then.

Good song.

Another dream before it dies....choke on the memories...I sleep well beneath my apathy.

k1ckthecat 08-07-2006 05:51 PM

indeed, eight-minute orgasm.

that song skips on my cd now :'(

pixiesfanyo 08-07-2006 10:25 PM

i think of awhile ago
we might have had it all
i was so stupid then
you needed time to grow

but now just as things change
as well my feelings do
in time things rearrange
i am so sick of chasing you

but what do I get 'cause I just seem to lose
uou make me regret those times I spent with you
and playing those games as I wait for your call
and now I give up, so goodbye and so long

it's not a change of pace
this time I'll get it right
it's not a change of taste
i was the one there last night

you have your other friends
they were there when you cried
didn't mean to hurt you then
best friends just won't leave your side

but what do I get 'cause I just seem to lose
you make me regret those times I spent with you
and playing those games as I wait for your call
and now I give up, so goodbye and so long

it's not a change of pace
this time I'll get it right
it's not a change of taste
i was the one there last night

when I needed you most
when I needed a friend
you let me down now
like I let you down then

so sorry, it's over

Matt OH! 08-07-2006 11:23 PM

state route 522- "find" is still one of the catchiest and sweetest songs.
Just call it the "Emo/Pop-Punk Thread" to throw everyone off.
LOL

Screamo's a subgenre of emo, Neeshee. Get cr00sh.

Ash: You're so fickle when it comes to me. You love me, you hate me, you love me, you hate me...make up your mind. :(

-Gav

Matt OH! 08-07-2006 11:34 PM

i don't get how it is determined if a band is screamo...

bottlerocket 08-07-2006 11:36 PM

I just consider if it's really chaotic like pg. 99 or Jerome's Dream.

Musically, chaos =/= lack of structure, just really thrashy and screamy but you still see a lot of emo influence.

Tjebby 08-07-2006 11:38 PM

D, did you hear the news about Belle Epoque? such tragic.

Matt OH! 08-07-2006 11:41 PM

you guys can use screamo, but i don't feel like it's really necessary.

old news. i posted about that a while ago

Tjebby 08-07-2006 11:42 PM

Really? oh damn. I just found out today.

Matt OH! 08-07-2006 11:45 PM

still f'ucking sucks though.

Tjebby 08-07-2006 11:46 PM

They were one of my favs... from what i've heard...

Matt OH! 08-07-2006 11:47 PM

every song on a la derive owns.

their demo is good too.

Tjebby 08-07-2006 11:48 PM

I haven't heard the demo. just A La Derive

Matt OH! 08-07-2006 11:49 PM

i think it's on their website.

it doesn't touch a la derive, seriously that is like a top ten album maybe.

bottlerocket 08-07-2006 11:59 PM

So I really love Sparrows Swarm and Sing...

Thanks, Neeshee.
