I've been listening to Cold Like December a shitload lately.

christsimpson 12-11-2008 10:31 AM

yo Justin me too. what's your favourite track? I dig excerpts from the note...

iarescientists 12-11-2008 11:25 AM
I have been arguing the validity of your claim that it is not illegal. All you are saying is you don't care and that you take away peoples rights. That is like we are sitting around and you are eating a sandwich, and I steal your sandwich and you say "hey thats my sandwich" and I say "no it isnt I took it from you" I am in the right.

digging old jeromes dream again, the dsbm style vocals def work a lot better than the intense distorted talking sounding vocals

RetiredAt21 12-11-2008 03:34 PM

Great band.

hismajestythepope 12-11-2008 03:35 PM

vocals on the later stuff ruin it for me, idk

RetiredAt21 12-11-2008 03:36 PM

I really like the vocals, definitely one of my favorite things about the band.

hismajestythepope 12-11-2008 03:40 PM

even the like, just agressive talking vocals?

RetiredAt21 12-11-2008 03:41 PM

It's not like the best **** I've ever heard but they aren't baaad. Why do you hate so much?

hismajestythepope 12-11-2008 03:45 PM

idk im not hating, those vocals just dont sound good at all to me, idk.

pixiesfanyo 12-11-2008 03:57 PM

obviously you need to learn more about life. then it will make sense.

moron 12-11-2008 04:53 PM
objects d'art should not be a source of private income, but an outlet of human emotion and expression - something which cannot be measured in filthy green paper with numbers on them (not that anything else could be measured like this either). an artist should not be in it for the money. I do however very much condone donations and such.

anyway I will not be actually purchasing "intellectual property" (as if it exists) that I do not even know. how can an artist expect someone to be willing to trade something for his or her work, if the person on the opposite side of the deal does not know what s/he is getting? if the barter consists of a certain amount of green paper with numbers printed on them on the one side, and an unknown non-physical object on the other side - how can the barter rightfully go through? and how on earth can one side of the barter measure according to the other side, if it is oblivious to what in fact *is* on the other side?

it makes no sense paying up for something that might suck.
you're an idiot.

So much effort is put into the process of making music. Often including producers, record companies, the artist, management, etc. It is a business, and the business exists so some of our favorite artists at least of the minimal funding they need to be able to continue making music and touring so your lousy *** can go see them.

i dunno if playing in a shitty deathcore qualifies you as a "vocalist"?

Iluvatar 12-11-2008 10:26 PM

i listen to later jeromes dream more just because that dude wrote the craziest guitar parts then

yes a lot of work goes into making music. that does however not mean that it can be compared to green. and I don't see any arguments from either of you as to why on earth I should enter a barter in which I do not know what I am being offered. it is hard to accept getting something you can't see (or in this case hear) on beforehand to evaluate, if you are to exchange something for it.

I still will never buy music that might suck, regardless of how angry you are. grrrr.

anyway Jeromes Dream are so epic live. and guitars are definitely more interesting than vocals.

DeathMagnetik 12-12-2008 01:52 AM

simpson, eh??

iamrockzorz 12-12-2008 12:45 PM

I never buy music, but regardless it is still a commodity to be bought and sold under the capitalistic system that you live in. And realistically, you do have means of knowing what you're going to be buying seeing as you can look bands up on myspace or read reviews on the internetz.

work actually does = green, actually. you've also changed your stance from saying that the artist doesn't have the property of the songs they've written and recorded to simply saying that you don't want ot buy something that you're unsure of.

christsimpson 12-12-2008 01:08 PM

I have not changed my stance at all. they don't have any "property". that's bull. but capitalism has constructed a pseudo-property that people actually believe in. consequently I have to honour that non-existing "property" and their fake "rights", so that the bands I like can afford to go around playing shows.

the reason I stressed that whole not wanting to buy stuff was because that was my main point. upping me mp3s will not be preventing me from actually purchasing the records. that's true 100% of the time, because it's a two-case scenario. a) I might not have money and wouldn't buy it either way or b) I like the s'hit so much that I want to support the band financially.

iamrockzorz 12-12-2008 01:23 PM

i'll agree with the latter two statements, but I still think you're a commie fool.

Dimmu Burger 12-12-2008 01:24 PM

darn commies.

moron 12-12-2008 02:27 PM

you dorkz are still talkin about this??
i'll agree with the latter two statements, but I still think you're a commie fool.
that's alright. I am a communist, and I will stand for my views.

pixiesfanyo 12-12-2008 03:07 PM

you can't have a view on it.

you don't have any responsibility in the process of creating and sending out the record to people, so you have no reason to have input on that process. sure, you're a customer and can choose either to purchase or steal the record. if you're an idiot you'll attempt to use some ideological principles to define stealing as something different, but the people actually involved with the process can see it two ways; either you steal it or buy it.

i don't get how you are failing to comprehend this.

moron 12-12-2008 03:09 PM
