BEATALLICA, the Midwestern band which "covers BEATLES songs in the style of METALLICA, infusing the lyrics and arrangements of Fab Four standards with wonderfully unsubtle references to METALLICA's songs and a spot-on imitation of James Hetfield's distinctive vocals" (Ice magazine), have uploaded their new eight-song EP. The self-titled effort contains the following track listing:

01. Blackened the USSR
02. Sandman
03. And I'm Evil
04. Got to Get You Trapped Under Ice
05. Leper Madonna
06. Hey Dude
07. I Want To Choke Your Band
08. We Can Hit The Lightz

Burdcheese 04-04-2004 07:55 AM

"wonderfully unsubtle"
I never would have noticed

Burdcheese 04-04-2004 08:10 AM

Wow - he was serious
More importantly its FREE!

SlaveToTheGrind 04-04-2004 08:11 AM

yes but i can't download it. it always stops at 50 kb

Burdcheese 04-04-2004 08:36 AM

It didn't work for me - at least it was a ridiculously slow bit-rate. I might try again later

superpeer 04-04-2004 09:23 AM

Yeah, that stuff is pretty funny.

naboo 04-04-2004 09:31 AM
i was wondering did metallica ever played live eye of the beholder, the frayed ends of sanity, disposable heroes and the shortest straw?
I think they have played Disposable Heroes live. Only before Cliff's death though. In fact im pretty sure I read that they played it the gig before that fatal bus accident.

DimebagDarrell 04-04-2004 10:26 AM

 sounds very funny this beatallica album i have got to hear

04. Got to Get You Trapped Under Ice
07. I Want To Choke Your Band
08. We Can Hit The Lightz

denboy 04-04-2004 10:30 AM

Everyone, go download the pacemaker plugin, for Winamp, and listen to all the old trash metallica songs, at 20% tempo...
Metallica heavier than ever! :thumb:

Burdcheese 04-04-2004 12:39 PM

I finally got the Beatallica stuff using 'Torrent.
Its funny stuff and the Hetfield impersonation is pretty good - "Hell Yeah"

wheelsbolivar 04-05-2004 09:49 AM

Whos a better guitar player, Hetfield or Hammett?

SlaveToTheGrind 04-05-2004 11:12 AM

i haven't heard a fast guitar solo of hetfield, so i'll say hammet. but hetfield is a better songwriter

Squirrel 04-05-2004 11:14 AM

Hmm hard one, Hammett is alot better than he shows in their songs but the same goes for Hetfield. If you've got the black album dvd like me then you'll hear Hetfields demo solo for Enter sandman, shows off a bit of skill. I cant see Hetfield with his big hands and arms pulling off some huge shred solos though - just wouldnt look right. So i think Hammett is a better guitarist because he's good at lead and rhythm, but Hetfield can actually write and sing ;)

SlaveToTheGrind 04-05-2004 11:24 AM

right now, i'm listening to call of ktulu. and i have to say that that song is by faaaaaaaaar better than orion. the solo is better and the riffs are better and the song isn't as boring as orion is. :thumb:

Burdcheese 04-05-2004 11:28 AM

To Live Is To Die is better than both of them though...

SlaveToTheGrind 04-05-2004 11:42 AM

i don't know. maybe i'll check it out someday.. ;)

NoHero9 04-05-2004 11:46 AM

well, Ill have you know that there is only one solo in The call of Ktulu.

SlaveToTheGrind 04-05-2004 11:57 AM

yeah but that one is far better than all solos in orion

Brew 04-05-2004 01:44 PM

I think that they are as good as each other - they both show that Metallica can play more melodic stuff.

UnknowN Doodl3 04-05-2004 01:48 PM
To Live Is To Die is better than both of them though...
Case Closed :smash:

soundcheckxx 04-05-2004 02:12 PM

but orion has the bass solo...

Brew 04-05-2004 02:36 PM
but orion has the bass solo...
So does Ktulu!

soundcheckxx 04-05-2004 02:57 PM

were is there a bass solo in ktulu

Brew 04-05-2004 03:05 PM

Its not the same style as Orion..but its still there. Listen to Ktulu carefully and you'll hear Cliff's bass solo style in the background.

Lateralus23462 04-05-2004 03:08 PM

Although Ktulu is absolutely genious, I like Orion more. Ktulu has better riffs, but I like each of Orion's three solos more than Ktulu's. I like Orion more because it's more progressive. Ktulu's atmosphere stays the same (until the fantastic, almost triumphant, ending), while Orion changes throughout the song. But it's still a hard choice because Ktulu has one of my favorite riffs of all time (the one around 3:30).

superpeer 04-05-2004 03:18 PM

But the atmosphere in Ktulu is what makes it so great.

UnknowN Doodl3 04-05-2004 06:27 PM

Ktulu and Orion are both great instrumentals. That said, I prefer orion's riffs
( especially the one where there is A5, E5, C5 powerchords with open E mutes in between the notes)but I prefer ktulu's solo. Superbeer mentioned something about atmosphere. Atmosphere is what makes those songs great. Its what makes all songs by metallica great.

There's been some contreversy in this thread about including to live is to die as an instrumental. Why shouldn't it? As good as Ktulu and Orion are, in my opinion TLITD takes the title.

Vai's_Jem 04-05-2004 06:36 PM

Ktulu Live S&M is the best (period)

NailHead 04-05-2004 07:02 PM

okay, does anyone know anything about Metallica's next album. i hate to say that i've been sweapt in the rumors that St. Anger was their last studio album

Gernm18 04-05-2004 07:04 PM

to live is to die is an INSTRUMENTAL , there's no singing!

that's my favorite instrumental, then orion , then ktulu

i like orion better than ktulu cos i just think it's cooler, the call of ktulu gets kinda boring after a while cos it's the same riff over and over

NailHead 04-05-2004 07:14 PM

well...imo (which probably don't count much)
i LOVE orion, i don't know why, i can't explain it, but i can listen to it for a long time, over and over. Ktulu is good, but i can only hear it a few times, i hate to say that about a Metallica song, but there are a few I don't like.

Metallicafreak_28 04-05-2004 10:52 PM

there is singing on to live is to die dude l

BludgeonySteve 04-05-2004 10:56 PM

Orion is great but for the first 3 minutes or so it is pretty boring. Then they get into the solos and it picks up.
