Ob-la-di ob-la-da. I love this song. Its a nice catchy upbeat tune. Everytime i hear the song it makes me want to stand up and do the twist for some reason,
And Twist and Shout doesn't make you do that??

Which is by the way a brilliant song.

Walrus Gumboot 03-14-2005 06:01 PM
Sounds interesting... not sure how well the combination would work though.
It includes 16 minute tracks of Yoko screaming so... not too good but it has a really cool version of Cold Turkey

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 03-14-2005 06:12 PM

Ob la di, Ob la da is an awesome song. It's so catchy, and you just have to sing along.

16 minute tracks of Yoko screaming^? I'll pass...

Walrus Gumboot 03-14-2005 06:14 PM

Hey RockJunkie, haven't seen you in a while

Yeah it was a pretty crappy album: Sometime In New York City

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 03-14-2005 06:20 PM

Yeah, I was here for about 30 seconds on Friday, and other than that, I probably haven't been here for a week and a half. :( Too much softball.

pigonthewing82 03-14-2005 06:48 PM

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 03-14-2005 07:00 PM

pigonthewing82 03-14-2005 07:02 PM

Yea I mean I always liked the stuff I heard on the radio, but it wasn't till I heard Communication Breakdown that I was hooked.

Walrus Gumboot 03-14-2005 07:07 PM

blue3 03-14-2005 07:08 PM

DeusExMachina 03-14-2005 08:13 PM

I'm don't quite agree with that. Let It Be is great, but not that great.

Krabsworth 03-14-2005 09:14 PM

heres a random fact on the beatles: in 1968, george harrison invited jim morrison from the doors to a recording session of the beatles, if you are to go into the tape archives at abbey road of the beatles, you can hear jim morrison singing back up on "happiness is a warm gun", i got that in the Jim Morrison biography.

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 03-14-2005 09:24 PM

That's interesting. I'd like to hear that. Nice avatar, too. :thumb:

I think you'll find if you look hard enough you'll find just as I did that the Beatles did jams with just about every band. Same thing with Hendrix.

PreludeToDisaster 03-14-2005 09:44 PM

the beatles are okay...

Seafroggys 03-14-2005 09:45 PM

Twist and Shout IMO ultimate dance number.
Twist and Shout IMO ultimate dance number.
True, well unless you concider the stoner "sway" a dance, then I would have to say Fool on the Hill.
the beatles are okay...
What of theirs have you heard? A lot of people who don't have much familiarity think of the Beatles as "Yellow Submarine" and "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", good songs, but not representative of all of their works. If you're into harder rock, try listening to "Helter Skelter". It's on the White Album.

Wow thats like an exact echo of what I tell people who don't give the Beatles enough credit as a rock band.

I use the same songs as examples too, kinda spooky.

ultraspamboy 03-14-2005 11:52 PM

Well yeah. I'd love to do Helter Skelter to some punks or something, see what they think. People who aren't really into music might not be able to tell it's not punk.

I use Yellow Submarine mainly because one of my friends laughed and said that song when I said I liked the Beatles. I was actually listening to Revolver at the time so it was a little eerie. Many people think of either the early days or Ringo's songs when they think of the Beatles. I like Ringo's songs and definitely appreciate the dynamic he added to the band, but I like the other guys' stuff better.

That is not entirly true some experts claim he singing but his name is not in the credits of that session. Good job on reading Steven Davis and nice avatar. :)

All in the Life? You mean A Day in the Life

That's whats happening in the world of p2p mp3 sharing....**** people with their mislabeling.

clown_phobia 03-15-2005 01:17 AM

They recorded Let it Be before Abbey Road. Abbey Road is their swan song, so to say. Let It Be was a time when they all hated each other and they knew they were breaking up so they left Let it Be and recorded the amazing Abbey Road. The song "the end" was going to be the last song on the last beatles album.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 03-15-2005 01:26 AM

I find it slightly ironic that the 1st song on their last album is named "Come Together".

mprules 03-15-2005 01:29 AM

yer, oh well, let it be has its good points too

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 03-15-2005 01:33 AM

I think "Across The Universe" strikes one of Lennon's lyrical high points.

GeorgeHarrison 03-15-2005 07:22 AM
It's a shame they went out with Let It Be, but I don't think that album's really musical genius...it's underrated, as it gets criticised loads compared with a whole load of their other work, but it's definitely not in the same league as their greatest albums. I've always wondered where the band would have gone had they stayed together though. :-/
I dont think that album is musical genious either, but you have to look at its strong points. I mean, it was their only real TRUE rock and roll albums. All their albums had alot of pop/psychadelic elements to it. This album was basically just srtaight up rock. (except for across the universe, which was eerie and wierd) When you listen to the album you see alot of things like 12-bar-blues, and alot of things you would orient with rock and roll. In my opinion, it is a very good record, but i wish it wasnt their last.
