I doubt Deryck did write the solos, he's not that good of a guitarist.
|
How do you know though? He never really shows off during shows, and we dunno who plays the solo's on the albums.
|
I just assume. If he did write any of the solos i'm sure he would play some in shows.
|
I doubt Deryck did write the solos, he's not that good of a guitarist.
He's an alright guitarist. Some of his guitar parts are pretty hard to play while singing.
|
Yeah, but guitar parts on their own, aren't amazing. I dunno. I always though of him as a mediocre guitarist.
|
Well usually when the main singer is playing guitar, his part isn't complicated and is easy to play while singing.
He seems like one of those good guitarists who can play, but doesn't show it off live any. Like Billie Joe kinda. |

Haha, yeah, that's only some of his songs though, usually, when he's singing, it's not too complicated.
I can kinda do IKKSE:3 while singing, but it's pretty confuzzling. And I did say usually... |
I solved the mystery of who really wrote the solos. Though not much of a surprise.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=kRRzvc0XzfQ&search=Dave%20Brownsound Though, Deryck is a pretty creative guy. You look at the riffs for Fat Lip, Over My Head, Still Waiting, The Bitter End... They're all pretty good. Deryck could probably solo if he wanted to. |

whoa, nice... i wonder what they are going to do now though
|
whoa, nice... i wonder what they are going to do now though
Be amazing and have fun doing it |
I think it's real cool that they're so chilled about the whole situation. No bitterness at all. :)
|
I think it's real cool that they're so chilled about the whole situation. No bitterness at all. :)
That's because they thoroughly understand that "you can't escape the bitter end". So they just except it all and move on. :chug: |

Well like I said earlier, I didn't say all main singers.
|
Yeah yeah, anyway it will be interesting to see what they're gonna be like live now.
|
The only thing that is going to change as far as live performances is the rap. Because, alot of guitarists are as good as Dave, so they can play the guitar, on top of the fact that Dave didn't ever do anything crazy on stage, so his stage presence will just get replaced. It'll be fine, stop worrying about it.
|
Losing Dave isn't a big deal at all. Nothing compared to if Green Day lost Mike.
|
The Goon Platoon is closing down for good...too bad huh?
|
Oh wow, is there a reason as to why?
|
Oh wow, is there a reason as to why?
Apparently they feel that their fan-base is in jeapordy, because you have to pay to be a member...so in order to pay back all the members of Goon Platoon they're sending all of the paying people a poster with their name on it...I think it's kid of stupid, but whatever, they thought that alot of their fans just didn't care that much because you had to pay to see all of the bonus content and stuff. The whole thing is just really dumb, and I think that it should still be open. |
Is this "Goon Platoon" like a fan club sorta thing?
|
Yeah, it's kind of like blink's street team and many other bands have things like this where if you pay, you get certain priveleges and content that other people don't. I guess that Sum 41 felt it wasn't fair to everybody or something.
|
I think it's a ripoff... You pay $20, and all you really get is like a shirt and stuff, then you can access parts of the site and whatnot... It's sweet if you can meet them after a show, but the membership only lasts a year. If you don't go to a show in that year, then you have to pay $20 again to keep being a member just to see them at a show.
|
Is Sum 41 recording anything new?
I bet BassicBassist knows. :p -Kripes (remember me?) |
I always wanted to be an aquacadet, you get some pretty cool stuff, I mean most bands sell their shirt for 15-20$, plus you get stickers and the like. and the bragging rights, like HEy! Im an aquacadet! Bow to me sucka! or something along thoes lines...
|

I hate stuff like that. For you guys it's $20, but for me it would be more like $50. |
Yea dude one time I let myself pay $20 for some green day fan club thing... All I ever got for it was a shirt, some crappy wristband that fell off right away, an air freshener, and a little membership card. It was such a waste.

Proof that Stevo has a heart.

I bet BassicBassist knows. :p -Kripes (remember me?)
Yes, I remember you, and no they're not recording yet, but Deryck is writing right now...according to the band themselves, Deryck is writing and Stevo and Cone are just lying around being bums, but I assume that they will start writing once they've got an idea of which direction their new album will take them. |
Cool. I'll pick the new album up the day it comes out (whenever that is).
|
Proof that Stevo has a heart.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajT2TDc5V-4 lmao
They played that at the Go Chuck Yourself show on stage they hoisted a hugeass white sheet, and projected the movie on it... like a movie theatre, but not quite a screen. it was like a ginormous bedsheet or something i saw it on youtube though, too |

on stage they hoisted a hugeass white sheet, and projected the movie on it... like a movie theatre, but not quite a screen. it was like a ginormous bedsheet or something i saw it on youtube though, too
Them posting those videos and ditching the Goon Platoon pisses me off man because this is my first year to join and I joined after their show here, so the meet and greet wasn't worth anything to me and so the only thing I had as a member were those videos. So I paid 15 bucks to watch videos on youtube...great. |
But on the site, all of the Goon Platoon content still needs a login, other than the Q&A. I actually just asked a few questions, I hope they answer them...
But like I said, that's the only GP thing available to the public. It doesn't seem like they're closing it or changing it or anything |
My band are playing Grab The Devil By The Horns... as the intro for our gig tonight, just because we find it hilarious doing the synchronised guitar movements and singing the high pitched "Yeaaaaaaaaah!" part.
It should be pretty stupid. |
Haha, nice Chris. You should do Pain for Pleasure. Kick ass fun song.
|
It was great!
We were all laughing when we did the synchronised guitar movements, and the crowd were all laughing/dancing/having a good time. |
