Well kids when they're younger tend to like more popular music. If they listen to the rock side usually they will get into better music as they get older.

But I didn't listen to it because it was popular, I actually liked it. I thought Slipknot was br00tal.

Well evryone at my school thinks hey know that hardcore is like atreyu or Poison The Well. Oh, thank God I've never been into rap or nu-metal.

Most of the kids that go to my school claim to listen to emo. But they listen to stuff like Taking Back Sunday, Hawthorne Heights, Story of the Year, the Used, etc...

Ha, I loved that album. I still do, actually. It's a nice slice of summertime pop-rock.

The first cd I bought was, I think, [i]Let's Face It[/i] by the Bosstones, or maybe a Green Day cd. I can't remember. Bush and Nirvana weren't far behind.

I went through a KoRn phase! *shudders* I've downloaded some emo music, I notice alot of it sounds like its been recorded with bad equipment, but I suppose that makes it more punk like. None of these bands seem to be known except from via the internet! I'm taking about bands like Stop It!!

My friend goes around saying he is emo and needs someone to cheer him up. I'd tried explaining to him the real definition. Oh, well some of those fake-emo bands are pretty good. I dig Coheed and Cambria, Senses Fail, and some other bands. Then some kids at my school go "do u cut yourself? Are you a ***** emo kid?" It gets annoying. There is so much macho bullsh'it at my school.

People here cut themselves and then show it off to everyone. I feel sorry for them that they actually need that much attention. Then kids here also think these "hardcore" kids (really metalcore) and "screamo" kids (really post-hardcore or "pop-core") are tough and angry and violent. I listen to a bunch of that stuff and I'm seriously so easy to throw around.

Well, personally I don't really like straight edge. I have many friends that are straight edge so I'm not against it or anything. At my school I have people that claim to be straight edge and then they say that I'm weird because I'm a vegitarian... and I've also had straight edge kids ask me if I had any pills. So yeah, I guess they're just stupid and don't know what they're doing. I don't really like straight edge because it's just another lable and such for people to argue about and I think that we already have enough lables being thrown around at people. If you want to be drug free, and a vegitarian - then good. If you don't want to be - then good as well. It's your life.

My joke band did a song called "Straight Edge Is A Fu[b][i][/i][/b]cking Joke." It's called icecreamxcore and we got sooo many hate-mails from scene kids with names like "xmybrokenheartistrampledonbyautumnsdarkleavesandcutwiththerazorbladesofyourwordsx"

Oh, dude its totally cool if you're not straight edge. I don't bag on people or pressure them to follow my lifestyle. It's just a personal option. Ig you're staight edge good for you. If you're not that's cool. There is no need for violence or insults from any side. It's pointless. Straight edge is up to the person and its not a big deal if someone isn't edge.
