A Zildjian Ping Ride. |
hey guys, i don't really know much about cymbals...meaning like the difference between "dark hats" and "new beats" and "mastersounds"..etc etc. but,
I was thinking of this cymbal lineup ( i have zbts now, they're getting cracked and messed up though). - Zildjian A 18 inch Medium Thin Crash - Zildjian K Custom 20 inch Ride - Zildjian K 13 inch Mastersound hats - Wuhan 10 inch splash (19.99) I like the way they sound all sound pretty much. I've only been playing a year, and I play some basic funk, latin, jazz, some rock, etc. im not really into that "rock" sound though. Would this be a good lineup? Basically, i need a ride, crash, hats, and a splash that sound good, don't have that z custom/metal/rock sound, are as affordable as they can be (im only 13, and theres not really much i can do to earn money), and will last me long. thanks. |

any other recommendations? i don't want to make the same mistake i did buying the ZBT's :(. the splash is no good? on musiciansfriend it got some good reviews, what other splash do you recommend?
what about some of those cymbals on cymbalsonly.com? they seem to be cheaper.. |
i was jsut sayin i think the splash might be a little trashy. if you want that sound then by all means buy it.
|
ooh alright. do you think i could turn my old zbt bottom/top hi hat into a splash kind of thing and mount it to a crash stand? or would that just be ghetto?
what do u think of those cymbals on cymbalsonly.com ..cuz they are a little cheaper than the zildjians. |
I don't think your high hat would sound like a splash.
|
I play rock, im getting a Vault. Which of these would go best with that...Wuhan S Series crash, Meinl MCS Crash, Zildjian ZXT, Sabian XS20
|
if youre getting a vault dont bother getting any of those then. get the vault but dotn mix it with a zxt for the love of god please dont.
|
yeah, i know, but its all i can go by, no one carries them where i live
I suggest you make an excursion out to a music store. It'll be worth the inconvenience. |

how does a sabian AA dry ride sound when it's crashed?
also what would you guys so about aax x-celerator hats? |
Hi I'm wondering what people think of the 14" AAX Stage Hats. I found a pretty sweet deal and I'm wondering if I should get them.
Thanks, Sultan P.S. I currently have B8's so anything is an upgrade... |
i command u to buy those 14" stage hats right now
they are one of the most versatile pair of hihats out there, they sound excelent, i own them myself... and u found a sweet deal, UR GOLDEN BABY |
i agree.. buy them...i'm getting mine Friday.
how does a sabian AA dry ride sound when it's crashed? also what would you guys so about aax x-celerator hats?
i cant say you'd like the dry ride as a crash. as for the hats, i havent actually played a pair myself, but i imagine they'd be similar to Mastersounds/Sound edges etc. |
I have the AAXcelerators, and I absolutely love them. tight crisp and articulate when closed, nice and sloshy when half-open. They are pretty bright. They do sound similar to Mastersounds, but really brighter, which is why I chose them over A custom Mastersounds

ok...i dont quite get it....your looking to buy one or several?
|
probably one or two pairs of hihats, one ride.
I would like too buy the 602 just because they are 602's, is that stupid??? And I won't be able to test them before I buy them, thats why I'm asking you guys. |
if you REALLY want the 602's, then no one can stop you right?
as for your requirements, the Full ride and the Dark Crisp hats are your best bet. perhaps that K zildjian ride.....cause cmon, its a Zildjian branded Sabian  |
You really like Sabian. hehe
About the 602, I would like too buy cause they are discontinued and old. Do you have any idea what they would sound like??? Any cymbals I can check out that would sound like them??? |
i have no clue as to their character....but likely similar to 2002's or Sigs i beleive.
|
hey cymbal dudes....wt are the pro sonix like? would it be worth to choose them over the zxt or zbt ? n wt is the best in thts lower-mid price range? cheers
|
^^ Hell yes they are better than ZBT and ZBT. They destroy them.
In my experience, they are pretty bright cymbals. They are some of the best intermediate cymbals on the market. And from what I've heard, is you can shape their sound using EQ. Dunno how that works though. |
