There is a metallica album cover (master of puppets) and a Dream Theater one that look a lot alike I'm sure it's old news but anyone know why that is?

JonG 05-24-2005 07:46 PM

Dream Theater did a cover album of Master of Puppets. They played them at random shows on their tour in '93? I can't exactly remember when.

nowitzki 05-25-2005 05:54 AM

It wasn't in '93 it was on the 6DOIT tour, they covered the album in full in Barcelona

Werny 05-25-2005 06:19 AM
what
There's one part that has really low vocals under James saying something. It's near the end, I believe. And while Death may be an overstatement, it still sounds ridiculous.

i'm sure they covered it early on aswell, i have a video of the solo from damage inc and the very end of the verse before it ("you'll know just where we come from"). petrucci is using his picasso style ibanez and they all look the same as they did in the I&W era. i'm not sure if they covered the entire album but they did at least do this one song.

kurrpt 05-25-2005 06:43 AM

anyone know if the new album leaked?

nowitzki 05-25-2005 07:51 AM

Well barcalona was the first time they covered the whole album, they had covered Damage Inc earlier on though. They cover it on the 5YIALT DVD with Barney from Napalm Death on vocals.
anyone know if the new album leaked?
i hope not

Lord Abortion 05-25-2005 08:05 AM

LaBrie sounds like freddie mercury on earlier stuff

I hate muse...

bball_1523 05-25-2005 12:52 PM

when is dt releasing a dvd of their mop performance? Or does anyone have bootlegs?

Death would be a very ridiculous overstatment.

DT >>> anything death

kevbud187 05-25-2005 06:33 PM

I'd have to say my favorite song by them is "Just A Matter of Time"
anyone know if the new album leaked?
Radio edits for panick attack and these walls have been leaked.

Hammerheart 05-25-2005 11:33 PM

The new DT album has been leaked, all of it.

Werny 05-26-2005 06:23 AM

No, the James LaBrie solo album has been put on the net and named as the new album.

If it has leaked, no one here would want to know about it.

juggalotricksta 05-26-2005 10:18 AM

I'll ask one more time.

Would it be so horrible to wait for the actual release date to hear the album? Am I going to be the only person at the cd store on the 7th? Come on people.

I have it and it's amazing. Get it, now!

trev913 05-26-2005 02:27 PM

I'd really like to hear some of the individual members' solo stuff? Any idea when JP's CD comes out?

pretty convincing to me.

The Depressed 05-26-2005 05:31 PM

It's definitely leaked. Am listening now...

First 5 tracks = brilliant. Surprisingly, not much of the massive over-indulgent stuff that DT have been accused of for the last few albums. I love These Walls and I Walk Beside You...

and then it hits Never Enough.

I can now say there is a DT song I flat out despise. It's Muse in a faster more technical form. And I can't stand Muse at all. It's nearly ruined the album for me.

Luckily, Sacrificed Sons sounds effin great as I'm listening to it, more than making up for the atrocity that is before.

Am looking forward for Octavarium (the song.) Should be pretty cool from all the clips I've currently heard.

EDIT -
Would it be so horrible to wait for the actual release date to hear the album? Am I going to be the only person at the cd store on the 7th? Come on people.
Ha, I pre-ordered mine as soon as I possibly could. I'm just a fan looking forward to hearing the music. They've already got my money.

EDIT 2 -

Octavarium - wow. That is all.

I'll ask this aswell :p

trev913 05-26-2005 06:02 PM

Ah...Chu, no one's gonna help us... So... I did some quick research...

John Petrucci solo CD "Suspended Animation" out now
Updated on 03-06-2005

John Petrucci's solo album "Suspended Animation" is now available exclusively from John's "Sound Mind Music store". Here are the tracklisting and artwork for "Suspended Animation": John Petrucci - Suspended Animation

1. Jaws of Life
2. Glasgow Kiss
3. Tunnel Vision
4. Wishful Thinking
5. Damage Control
6. Curve
7. Lost Without You
8. Animate-Inanimate

Magicaltroll 05-26-2005 09:21 PM

wtf? I'm listening to the first track of the new cd (not sure if its fake... I hope its not) and it had the chorus of This Dying Soul in it...

That was kinda cool, but weird. It wasn't exactly the same, it was like... remixed.

JamieSomething 05-26-2005 09:55 PM

that's because it's a continuation of This Dying Soul, as it is from The Glass Prison, containing parts from The Mirror too

because, Portnoy wrote those songs, about the A.A. 12 Step program, so, there you go, Glass Prison has steps 1-3, and This Dying Soul has steps 4-6. The song you're speaking of..probably is 7-9

Awesome.
I never really got into the concept of the songs. I jsut love the music to death.

JamieSomething 05-26-2005 10:04 PM

hey, whatever works, right? write about the oddest of things, throw in some metaphors, and you got the potential of something badass

Magicaltroll 05-26-2005 10:05 PM

Haha, yeah.
That works for alot of bands... Never really noticed.

vashts80 05-26-2005 11:26 PM

I didn't even pickup on the continuation from TDS :x

OK from the post below yours I now know that this is a leak, but it is possible to rename a song or album.

Its astounding how people will steal from one of their favourite bands just to hear an album 10 DAYS before it's release. Grow up.

clearvision 05-27-2005 06:08 AM

Quit whining, i'd still steal if it were out already...no source of income = no CD's for me...should i be deprived of music because of that?
