I had an idea today to try and run a competition for the "Top 100 (?) Non-Pop-Punk Bands, as voted on by the Pop-Punk Forum". I'm not sure how it would work out, so I thought I'd run it by the mods (and other users) first.

Basically, I figured since most people in here listen to a wide array of music, it would be worth a try, but I want to know what everyone else thinks. :)

We may get a lot of arguing about what counts as not-Pop Punk is the only problem I can think of.
Like Straylight Run. They are an amazing band, and this is the forum they are talked about in, but they are in no way a pop punk band.

Yeah, I was just thinking about that.

I guess conflicts could always be solved by "votes" within the nomination thread, or there could be like a "commitee" of 4 or 5 knowledgable posters.

Oh, and if they were in the Top 100 pop-punk bands competition, they'd probably have to be disqualified even if they weren't really pop-punk.

I think it will be fine just as discussed within the thread. As long as people are mature about saying, "I think Straylight Run should be removed. They are essentially a pop-punk band."
