Yeah... we really need a new topic in this thread.
So... favorite Poland solo? Marty? Al?
best solos dave: holy wars, hanger 18 chris: good mourning / black friday marty: tornado of souls, symphony of destruction.....all his solos are awsome from rip and cte al: dread and the fugative mind |
Peace Sells is a good album, Rust in Peace is their best, Killing is my Business is their thrashiest and also very good, Countdown to Extinction is great, but with less of the emphasis on thrash/speed and more just good heavy metal. I'd recamend those first, if you like those, then check out So Far So Good So What if you like the thrashy ones, and Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings, and The System Has Failed if you prefer their more straight metal stuff.
thx ++ rep 4 you |
best solos
dave: holy wars, hanger 18 chris: good mourning / black friday marty: tornado of souls, symphony of destruction.....all his solos are awsome from rip and cte al: dread and the fugative mind
I learned the Symphony of Destruction solo. It's super fun to play. What solo's can you guys play? So far I can only do Symphony because I haven't really tried anything else. |
I can play Holy Wars top to bottom...no I can't. I actually can play a few off of Peace Sells. Wake Up Dead is a fun one.
|
i play "at tout le monde" and "peace sells" with my band, the solos in those two arnt too hard at all.
i didnt put sysmphony's solo as one of martys best cos its hard, i just really like it, imo it fits the song perfectly |
I saw Megadeth live last night, it was bloody awesome!
Tell me about it, I seen them last week. Unbelievable. |
best song IMO is 99 ways to die or Wake up dead
im gonna make a short film called 99 ways to die :thumb: it will be full of blood and it will have that song on |
Yeah I know. Dave's vocals really have to grow on you, especially songs like Sweating Bullets. Kind of like how CoB's vocals have to grow on you.
Die dead enough was what really won megadeth over for me, that song is briliant :thumb: |

I personally don't like that song that much. Its a good song, but I just prefer the other songs off of TSHF. Good soloing in that song though, not too flashy, but good phrasing and it just clicks with me. As far as solos/songs I can play, I can do Holy Wars with everything minus the clean solo. Haven't really looked at it, I don't know if its hard or what. I can play about half of the solos in Hangar 18, some of Marty's are insane though. And I can do Tornado of Souls, very fun to play, and a cool little solo. Oh yeah, and Sweating Bullets, easy solo but its a fun one to play with my band. |
Hey...I am new to Megadeath and like to get into their music... What should I start with ?
|
Hey...I am new to Megadeath and like to get into their music... What should I start with ?
Start with Peace Sells and Rust In Peace. |
Yeah, I think countdown to extinction is a really underated album :)

die dead enough is the only song i can remember hearing off 'tshf' i think it's one of megadeth's best songs (in my god-like opinion) |
Yeah, I think countdown to extinction is a really underated album :)
That depends. Lot's of people are fixated on Megadeth's thrash sound so will always hold the trash albums over the other albums, which is a shame because they're all really good. |
Start with Peace Sells and Rust In Peace.
Yep.
Yeah, I think countdown to extinction is a really underated album
Even though I haven't actually picked up Cryptic Writings yet, I've heard a bunch of the songs and they really are good. She Wolf is awesome, as is Trust. Is The World Needs a Hero worth buying? Dread and the Fugitive Mind is a great song, and I like Return to Hangar a lot too. Those albums seem more underrated to me. CTE is sometimes dismissed because its not a thrash album. I think its great, its still got thrash elements, and some great songwriting.
die dead enough is the only song i can remember hearing off 'tshf'
Blackmail the Universe? Kick the Chair? Back in the Day? Those are my favorites off of TSHF. Also the thrashiest songs off of it. The Scorpion is pretty good too (it was amazing live, not as good on the album), and Truth Be Told is good too. |
Cryptic Writings is brillant, but a big departure from their typical sound.
TWNAH is pretty much a straight up metal album, probably bears most resemblance to TSHF. It's worth picking up. |

i was listening to it once when lord_abortion had it on but i can't remember which songs were which |

Yeah those are great. Back in the Day was really awesome live, with Exodus singing along. I wish they played Blackmail the Universe at my show... |

In Belfast they opened with Blackmail The Universe and for Back In The Day they had Diamond Head singing. |

I have it, I think its a not bad album. Symphony of Destruction is my favourite song off the album. |
the demo of symphony is much better than what was put on the album
|
Symphony is a good song, but IMO its kind of overrated. I prefer say, Foreclosure or High Speed Dirt or Captive Honor or Ashes in your Mouth off of CTE.
|
Symphony is good, but not great. But I owe that song something special. Since its the only Megadeth song ever on the radio where I'm from it was the first song of theirs I heard. It was my gateway song into my love of Megadeth. The rest of the album isn't bad either.
|
Ashes in Your Mouth (Rude Awakening) > Ashes in Your Mouth (CTE)
IMO. TSHF is probably their best album since Youth...I liked some of the songs on Cryptic, but the majority of CW didn't appeal to me, really. |

Really? I've never heard any Megadeth on any radio. Lucky if I see a video once in a while on Headbangers Ball. |
the demo of symphony is much better than what was put on the album
I want to hear the demo then. My favorite song off of CDtE is probably Ashes in Your Mouth, or Symphony of Destruction (for the solo, mainly). |
i like arcatecture of agression and captive hounor too
i hate how they play symphony of destruction on rude awakening, it looses all of its groove |
i like arcatecture of agression and captive hounor too
That depends.
