Yeah, my friend knows the first 2 solos in fade to black and one, and he thinks he's the greatest guitarist on the planet.

lilmetallica 04-08-2005 09:43 PM

I meant like different bands like my friend can play blink182 solos but they're sooooo easy. They have some good songs but real easy solos and hes like you cant play a solo yet but metallca's solos are hard and he doesnt relise this.

yes, because i'm my friend.

i think i have an answer to your problem before or whoever it was. they asked how kirk gets the screechy bit in that guitar solo or something. the solo in question is master of puppets and an easy way to do it is by striking a natural harmonic on the 4th/3rd frets of the G/B strings simultaneously and articulating the resultant notes with your whammy bar and wah-wah pedal.

lilmetallica 04-08-2005 09:53 PM

No that wasnt me.

sixxbassist90 04-08-2005 10:25 PM

when metallica ruled the world is on vh1 now.
anyone esle in here that plays guitar and wont make fun of me for this but idk how to learn a solo and it bugs the **** out of me and it pisses me off that all my friends can play the solo from seek and destroy perfectly and i can get close but it just doesnt sound right so if anyones got any help with that plz list it
It's an easy solo (well compared to some other metallica ones), if you know how to play it right. Most tabs for seek and destroy are just crap though, would you like me to tab it for you the way I play it?

JACKROXYOU 04-08-2005 10:28 PM

and what the hell is happening in this thread?

Heidi 04-08-2005 10:34 PM

I've wondered how he does that. A lot of people say it's from pulling the string off of the guitar, but I've tried and it doesn't sound right when I do it.

FlyingPaul_83 04-08-2005 10:35 PM

(watching S&M) ****, you can't even hear call of Ktulu

*sigh* Do you have any idea how old that post is?

apparently he pulls the string off the neck kind up and it involves a pickup. but thats how he does it live

metal_milita 04-09-2005 12:34 AM
I'm sure you knew exactly what you were doing.
:amaze: am I supposed to be insulted? I can admit to people that my song is uncanningly like MoP but there is no way I planned it to be similarly structured like that, and if you intend to know, I was trying to make it have a Symphony X like vibe.
Curious though, why would you think that?
I'm not some fanboy who injects metallica into myself, and I'm not a retard where I can't come up with good songs of my own.

metallicarules!play bass 04-09-2005 01:02 AM

if you guys wanna talk about some hard to learn metallica solo's then try learning Anesthesia.
it took me two solid weeks just to remember how to play the whole thing and another week to get all the timing and rythems right.
but being able to play it brings meaning to my life.

LONG LIVE METALLICA

mr black 04-09-2005 03:35 AM

learning metallica is great fun, and it gives you a good feeling of achievement

DisposableHeroes 04-09-2005 03:44 AM

I'm gonna actually try the Disposable Heroes solo, and keep at it. I should also be renting out SKOM tonight from my local video box

Burdcheese 04-09-2005 04:03 AM
(watching S&M) ****, you can't even hear call of Ktulu
I can :)

If you have serious problems, you could select the option to listen to the band on their own... which is somewhat missing the point

DisposableHeroes 04-09-2005 04:22 AM

Now i want to learn the Unforgiven solo

blue3 04-09-2005 04:25 AM

What's an easy Metallica solo to play on guitar?

Kyle 04-09-2005 04:27 AM
What's an easy Metallica solo to play on guitar?
The opening solo to one

blue3 04-09-2005 04:29 AM
The opening solo to one
I can play that already

ThrashMaster27 04-09-2005 04:31 AM

The fast solo from The Four Horsemen is pretty easy.

wrongnote85 04-09-2005 04:32 AM

i just got on here and read through the thread with all of snow day's (or snow whatever it is) posts. they guy is full of ****! in my experience, anyone who boasts about how good they are always sucks. always. no bother trying to get him to post any recordings, he can't play for ****, i can tell you that right now. and, if by some chance he is accomplished, then he deserves nothing more than a "good job" and not a look back. hell, he's probroly not even in britian.

as for easy metallica solos, harvester of sorrow is short, sweet, and too the point. i recommend that one. after that try nothing else matters, first MOP solo, and the pretty solo to horsemen.

Mazeppa 04-09-2005 04:34 AM

Some of the solos in Orion are pretty simple, also the halfway solos in MOP.

blue3 04-09-2005 04:35 AM

Okay.. I'll try playing those solos

wrongnote85 04-09-2005 04:39 AM
The fast solo from The Four Horsemen is pretty easy.
not for me, i play a strat with only 21 frets!

DisposableHeroes 04-09-2005 04:50 AM

The first Orion solo is easy

rippa32 04-09-2005 05:48 AM

Can anyone tell me who sings nothing else matters? I have a hard time believing that its Hetfield.

Six Foot Revolver 04-09-2005 05:50 AM
Can anyone tell me who sings nothing else matters? I have a hard time believing that its Hetfield.
Pretty sure it is

ThrashMaster27 04-09-2005 05:53 AM

Yeah, it's Hetfield. He's quite good with his 'Ballad' voice. Not a fan myself, but it's good.

wrongnote85 04-09-2005 05:54 AM

hetfield sings everything. jason sings whiplash on live **** and that's about it.

IAJP 04-09-2005 06:28 AM

I'm listening to Live **** now,
Of Wolf And Man.
It's good.

Joe 04-09-2005 07:12 AM
The first Orion solo is easy
i haven't tried it

and hetfield sings everything studio recorded. on Live Sh*t Jason does some singing

and live sh*t is amazing, but i think i like the S&M Of Wolf and Man better

and easy solos? anything on the black album is pretty easy. the last solo in sanitarium is easy and all of for whom the bell tolls is easy (not technically a solo i think, btu the lead part is cool)

IAJP 04-09-2005 07:13 AM

I'm listening to Battery now, it's pretty funny the way he teases the audience

Joe 04-09-2005 07:15 AM

seek and destroy disc 2, really good stuff

IAJP 04-09-2005 07:23 AM

Yeah,
the live Motorbreath is awesome too.
