I was really dissapointed when I got to Run to the Hills. Bruce couldnt hit many of the notes.
It's better then what Dianno used to do, at a gig he'd say; "You do the hight notes and I'll do the low ones" to the crowd...
If you turn up the album version of Paschendale loud enough you can hear him in the "The bodies of our and our foes..." bit.

I think his voice has some fantastic textures to it.
Ironically enough, I was considering Paschendale for the song for my last talent show. I was thinking either Paschendale, Journeyman (kinda fitting seeing as it's the last week of junior high and I'm leaving that school) or Seventh Son for Maiden songs. Other songs I was considering were Opeth's "Deliverance" or "Master's Apprentices" or Nile's "Unas, Slayer of the Gods"

Edit: Somebody said Bruce can't hit notes anymore, but that's really to be expected considering he's 46 and he's been doing this for 20+ years...he's still better than a lot of vocalists out there now though

Edit 2: I was listening to Face in the Sand, and I'm still trying to figure out why Nicko had to use a double pedal. I've read that using the double pedal caused him pain, but why couldn't he do it with one foot unless that caused him pain as well?

I also was listening to Dream of Mirrors, and I've showed people this song and they all say "there's no way he's using a single pedal, he has to be using a double." One person called me stupid because I said "he's doing a triplet pattern on the single pedal" lolz

Also, there's a fill in the RiR version of Iron Maiden at about 3:45 in that sounds to me like a double pedal, but it's probably a mix of the low toms and pedal

he used a double bass pedal for that song because he didn't have the stamina to keep it going with just a single.

vashts80 12-09-2005 04:09 PM

ah, k

ashman 12-09-2005 04:12 PM

Plus according to him, double pedals are undrummerish..:p

And as we all know, Nicko's word = the truth.

Steady ladies, don't be getting personal.

classicrockman 12-09-2005 10:49 PM

Sorry I've been away for a while guys. This next album seems to somewhat of a fan favorite, but I think it is overated. I'm talking about 'Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.' I didn't like how Iron Maiden starting experimenting with keyboards. This would sadly be Adrain Smith's last album with the band, until a triumphant return in 2000. My top 5:

1. The Evil that Men do
2. The Clairvoyant
3. Can I Play with Madness?
4. Moonchild
5. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son

Please post yours.................................................:
