Shit...looks like I might be going to rock city (It's 14+ this time :))as I can't find any tickets for the Birmingham gig.

And... 1000 posts!

TojesDolan 06-06-2006 12:41 AM

They return to the states after a long while guys, rhe wait will be long and hurtful. :p

Anyhow, how's the setlist for this tour? Very changing?

gmoneyguy 06-06-2006 01:50 AM

I hope they put Demon of The Fall back when I see them next time around.

Father 06-06-2006 02:48 AM

I was listening to Orchid (its been a while since i listened to that) ... In mist she was standing blew me away again. With all the fanboyis around them these days I forget how good they are then a song like that puts me in my place.

I know I'm weird but that's not even the part of the song that I like most. The very intro is sweet with the weird telephone effect, and so's the acoustic part with those disgustingly awesome growls, and of course the middle section. It's one of Opeth's eeriest songs IMO. Also sexiest.

I love how Akerfeldt put the chorus parts from The Master's Apprentices backwards at the end of that song, the very end.
Yeah, that's creepy as hell.

Where from?

The Exeter ones aren't on gigsandtours, aloud, getlive, ticketmaster or anywhere.

HILFE!

UpperDecker 06-06-2006 10:46 AM

What's your fav song on Damnation? I'm stuck between Windowpane and In My Time Of Need. The singing in the chorus of In My Time of Need is definitely the best on the album to me.

I can't find the Birmingham ones, but I'm wondering whether I should go to rock city as on seetickets, it explicitly says "14+"

As for favourite on Damnation, it has to be Closure.

TojesDolan 06-06-2006 11:14 AM

Hope leaves and In my time of need.

But Ending credits and Weakness are just in a list apart for awesomeness.

gmoneyguy 06-06-2006 11:30 AM

In My Time Of Need for me.

Death Whispered A Lullaby

Jude 06-06-2006 01:54 PM

Windowpane or To Rid the Disease. Or Closure.

Thor 06-06-2006 03:13 PM

In My Time of Need is probably the strongest song on the album, and I've always had a soft spot for Ending Credits.

Shattered_Future 06-06-2006 04:08 PM

I have no idea...I typed her name in Google, and this popped up.

Damnation? Windowpane, Hope Leaves, or To Rid The Disease.

Stoo 06-06-2006 04:10 PM

Windowpane \m/

I like Ending Credits and Weakness the most on the album.

BurningSky 06-06-2006 07:35 PM

I could never choose a favorite from Damnation, they are all good, and I listen to a song depending on my mood...

Right now, In My Time of Need...

Yeah I guess I'm the same way kinda. I'm still hooked on The Hearse at the moment, great album to listen to no matter what mood I'm in.

Kreator2112 06-06-2006 08:03 PM

Weakness is my weakness. The beauty that is Opeth.

Yeppers.

gmoneyguy 06-07-2006 12:32 AM

I really love the "airy" synths in In My Time of Need

Det_Nosnip 06-07-2006 09:01 AM

My favorite synth moment is probably the long interlude in Hope Leaves, with the high register piano bits and whatnot...

Stoo 06-07-2006 09:42 AM

I just found a vid of Opeth performing Closure in Glasgow. I was there!

You've prob already vids of them doung this live but fuck it, I thought I'd share it because I WAS THERE. :p

Here is a video of Opeth in the recording studio and harvest playing during it.

Does anyone know when tickets are going on sale for the gig in London in November?

gmoneyguy 06-07-2006 12:13 PM

I would geuss late july, early august.

rik 06-07-2006 12:19 PM
I would geuss late july, early august.
Ok, just tickets are already available for the Nottingham gig.

JamJar 06-07-2006 01:34 PM

They're also available for the Portsmouth, Glasgow and Exeter gigs. Dammit, why aren't the Birmingham tickets on sale. Looks like I'll probably be going to rock city instead, but I'd much rather go to Birmingham on a Friday than Rock City on a Tuesday but I don't know about any age restrictions for Birmingham and by the time they come on sale Rock City might be sold out, and then if there are age restrictions at Birmingham - looks like no Opeth for me.

Shattered_Future 06-07-2006 01:58 PM

I don't think Opeth would completely sell out their show...we got tickets about a month (probably less) before the show here, and had no problems. Aside from the fact that the service charge for 3 tickets cost more than a ticket.
