do they actually exist?
well, you guys gonna share yours or not?

Mazeppa 04-08-2005 05:26 PM

I don't have one :-/

lilmetallica 04-08-2005 05:41 PM

Is it just a number on a piece of paper inside the cd? Cause' that would be pretty stupid then one person buys it every one can get on.

PepsiMetal 04-08-2005 05:42 PM
I dont have St. Anger, I heard it was bad and just never bothered getting it. maybe one day..
Actually saint anger is great. It is different than their previous albums though. I guess different = bad to those people that told you it sucked.

Joe 04-08-2005 05:50 PM

it is, but i miss solos

MasterOfSquirells 04-08-2005 06:00 PM

there does seem to be a ridiculous amount of arguing on this thread and i fear i may be about to start another one, but what the ****!

believe me when i say kirk hammet is my favourite guitarist ever, he writes great solos and has come up with the basis for loads of the riffs in their songs. BUT (and i'm sure he would admit this himslef) he is far from being the most talented guitarist in the world.
You just have to look back to the days of cacophony (jason becker and marty friedman) and the likes of richie kotzen in his younger days, even steve vai and more recently devon townsend have a much greater range of playin and a much wider variety of sounds.
I know Kirk is not a solo artist, but could he really cut it with the likes of these guys as a solo artist?? As much as i love him, i think not.

Anyway, my original point was going to be, can everyone please stop boasting about being able to play metallica solos, because any accomplished guitarist should be ashamed if he cant!
PS have a listen to speed metal symphony and see if you think kirk could blast that out like jason becker does!
HAH! fool! when i read your reply i was highly amused......
metallica - one of the worlds most respected bands havent had their time yet you sad waste of skin! no one cares what you think on this thread so why dont you fuck off back to the bon jovi fan club or whereever you came from.

you tell me not to reply to POSTS (not threads), and yet you do it yourself you ****ing hypocrite.
you probably ARENT as talented as sir <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=32&k=kirk%20hammett" ***********="window.status='kirk hammett'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">kirk hammett</a>.........yes i have heard of joey you fucking ignorant cunt as i am an avid slipknot/dolls fan and yes he is better than lars but no-one could really give two shits anyway.........

yes you are an arrogant prick (you probably have no friends for that) and i can play pretty much every metallica solo there is and dont try fucking telling me that you don't need talent to do that because you know fine well in your pathetic, cowardly, little and frankly stupid waste of a brain that you DO.

how can you state "TOLD U SO" all over my fantastic <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=32&k=guitar" ***********="window.status='guitar'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">guitar</a> playing when you don't even know me, that is a sure sign of poserdom, now fuck off before you get banned. :thumb: and as for moron....dude.........take a look at yourself.

Sandtrap's Theory On Why Some People Hate St. Anger:

Alot of people loved Metallica in the 80s for what they were about: Heavy riffs, unmatchable solos, and sometimes good acoustic starts and good lyrics that made you think a little. Since Metallica recently changed there style to 90s rock. alot of those people that loved Metallica in the 80s listened to Metallica because they thought everything else was chlice and also because they hated 90s rock. So now that Metallica is playing 90s rock they hate Metallica too.
Thats Sandtrap's theory on why so many people hate St. Anger!

Although its no walk in the park to play what kirk does...

Very true sandtrap.
Its definetely not the sign of a true fan who will desert them after one slightly iffy album. and i'm sure they will realise the error of their ways and make a means with the next album!

Mazeppa 04-08-2005 06:08 PM

MasterOfSquirells, I'm likeing you. However there isn't alot of bragging here. I doubt many of us are accomplished guitarists (for those who are guitarists) just yet.

<<notice Jason Becker
lol, true. If you can write one of the solos then thats a different matter! then you COULD boast!
i find i can play most, but to be honest have never written a good solo ever, i just end up ripping off all of kirks, lol :D

MasterOfSquirells 04-08-2005 06:33 PM

and respect for Mr Becker! :chug:

whatduffhuck7 04-08-2005 06:46 PM

kirk has some pretty good solo's, some that not every guitarist could play. for example, the four horsemen and the call of ktulu. two of my favorite solo's ever

the reason why i didnt like st anger, it wasent 'thrash'. thats why i like metallica, becuase there the best thrash band out there. but when they started playing more rock songs, i was sad. im not saying st anger is a horible cd cuase i still like a couple of songs of songs, like st anger (the song) thats one of the few i like

Sandtrap 04-08-2005 06:49 PM

Right St. Anger haters dont have it cuase its St. Angrer...they hate it cuz its not 80s metallica. And thats completely understandable...Im really disapointed in the cd...but there really isnt anyhting you can do about it then shrug it off and hope the next album is SHREDDIN'

gothikid13 04-08-2005 07:02 PM

i think everyone in here should either download or if u have the song already, listen to eye of the beholder, it is one of the best unmentioned metallica songs there is

Fraggy 04-08-2005 07:10 PM

123, eye of the beholder is teriffic!

i never said kirk was the best in the world. you are right, he is far from it, but still a true great. he could nail all of those solos while recording kill 'em all with ease even though he had only been with metallica for a matter of weeks. and that was after five years of playing. even if you slow the song down on media player, kirks solos are still pretty well executed. and i never even said kirk was the best in the world so what the hell are you talking about? and i wasn't 'bragging', that dumbass said i wasn't talented yet he's never even met me or heard me play, so i had to put my point across.

on another note does ANYONE have a key code.... :upset:

the reasons i think st. anger doesnt live up to its expectations......
1. it was produced horribly.
2. there were no guitar solos.
3. there were no bass solos/impressive bass lines.
4. it was drop tuned (personally i prefer E or Eb)
5. the lyrics were generally unimaginative and repetitive
6. james' voice sounded dodgy.
7. the songs were too repetitive and long.
8. bob rock produced it.

Jev 04-08-2005 07:30 PM

I dont have a keycode, either they only came in the fold-out cases or they werent put in European Saint Anger cds.

gothikid13 04-08-2005 07:34 PM

anyone esle in here that plays guitar and wont make fun of me for this but idk how to learn a solo and it bugs the **** out of me and it pisses me off that all my friends can play the solo from seek and destroy perfectly and i can get close but it just doesnt sound right so if anyones got any help with that plz list it

gothikid13 04-08-2005 07:36 PM

is there anyone in here who gets extremely calmed down when they hear the first riff from hero of the day?

Deth 04-08-2005 07:37 PM

The biggest problem I have with St. Anger by far is the length of the songs. They just didn't need to be 7 minutes long.

gothikid13 04-08-2005 07:38 PM

anyone who likes breadfan and stone cold crazy as much as i do? (i think its some of the best metallica there is)

gothikid13 04-08-2005 07:40 PM

no offense to metallica, i still love their music to no end but St. Anger sucked *** and they should go back about 15 years to the good stuff

Deth 04-08-2005 07:50 PM
anyone who likes breadfan and stone cold crazy as much as i do? (i think its some of the best metallica there is)
I think Stone Cold Crazy is insanely awesome and Breadfan is just OK.

I much prefer Crash Course in Brain Surgery.

welcome to the forums, man

i'm sure they can help you out better in the guitar forum, but try playing by ear. it worked for me. course it wont work if your tone-deef.....
is there anyone in here who gets extremely calmed down when they hear the first riff from hero of the day?
yes, i do.
anyone who likes breadfan and stone cold crazy as much as i do? (i think its some of the best metallica there is)
they're good songs but weren't written by metallica. breadfan is by budgie, and stone cold crazy is a queen song. ive heard the original queen song, i prefer metallica's version. i dont know if you knew this already
no offense to metallica, i still love their music to no end but St. Anger sucked *** and they should go back about 15 years to the good stuff
yeah, i know what you mean. but regulars on this thread are getting pretty tired of people talking about the same old stuff like how much they hated st. anger. i thought it was good, but it was lacking in something (see above) and it didnt really live up to the albums from the 80s.

oh and by the way if you want to add something to your post, you should use the edit button next to your post. (or prepare to be flamed by angry vets.)

oh and don't bother downloading EotB, by ...AJFA instead! ;)

i disappear has not been released on any metallica album, i think it was only a single but it was on the MI2 soundtrack.

as for solos, you'll learn over time.

yea i have that problem too the first time i learn a solo. it's like i don't want to read the tab how it was tabbed, i want to read it to how i think it sounds and then i end up learning it wrong. i've mastered a bunch of metallica solos though. just keep practicing, once you get it you'll be amazed

lilmetallica 04-08-2005 09:15 PM

Ummmm metalcritter666 is that coffee in your avatar?
I can play a solo the one from nothing else matters the real essy one. YAY :amaze:

metalcritter666 04-08-2005 09:17 PM

nope, its tea.

lilmetallica 04-08-2005 09:20 PM

Fraom re-load to tea . Quite a leap.

what i do is i listen to the solo a lot, and then i play the tab slowly so i can memerize it. Then i follow the tab with the solo so i know what part is supposed to sound like what. then, once i memerized the solo, i play it slow, then faster, and faster until it's up to speed. Then i practice that solo for a couple of hours and try playing it with the music. Then i just play it a lot so it gets stuck in my head.

Rasta Rocker 04-08-2005 09:28 PM

But if you want to get even better, I'd suggest finding what key they play in, and improvise....
