anyone got a dec bass they selling
what happened to your rondo Jazz Bass?

Epidemechanical 03-04-2011 04:09 PM

Talked him down to 280. Getting the 6 string curbow in blue tomorrow.

VoibiaSof 03-04-2011 06:14 PM

Hello People of Earth

I'd rather try and fail than not try at all, as they say.

Epidemechanical 03-05-2011 02:10 PM

got the bass. good shape, no flaws. it was a bit dirty though so i spit shined it up to remove the dirt/dust

otherwise looks good

the guy had the action ALL the way up. like legit fucking as high as it would go. it was completely unplayable lol wtf

but its fixed now. strings are dirty and old as fuck. ill need to buy new ones and probably get a prosetup done.

Thonk 03-05-2011 03:09 PM

bought a 2001 ibanez sr480 last night

the characteristics of a ten year old bass but it plays extremely well.

i just need to replace a few aesthetic pieces

Epidemechanical 03-05-2011 03:24 PM

is the sr408 that 400 dollar ibanez with the brown wood and shi

Epidemechanical 03-05-2011 03:25 PM

i forgot how much i loved the curbow. i used to have one in red it was my first "big boy" bass

the body is so awesome looking and the blue finish is really eye catching. looks super metal.

only gripe is the shallow lower horn which makes sitting down to play annoying. i strap that bitch on high as fuck though so its all good

FlamingCouch 03-05-2011 03:32 PM

Edit: nm I now realize you bought a six and that's why you bought a second bass. I am a rehtard.

Epidemechanical 03-05-2011 03:45 PM

no dude i sold the green jazz

it sucked lol

FlamingCouch 03-05-2011 03:56 PM

dang, too bad. but hey hopefully this thing does the trick.

what wasn't doing it with the jazz?

Epidemechanical 03-05-2011 04:01 PM

hardware sucked. it was all cheap as fuck.

the curbow is legit as fuck

i used to have a curbow 5 in red. it was the first "real" bass i ever bought. the 6 is just as good, if not better, and its in sexblue.

FlamingCouch 03-05-2011 04:23 PM

fair enough. yeah, if everything is too cheap it makes for the lose. I can't remember who posted the huge rebuild project on a couple SX's... they'd probably be worth buying if you could invest that much time and work into them but I'm the shits when it comes to mods, too scared of fucking 'em up.

but that spad pro of yours is still holding up fine? I'm seriously contemplating getting one of their shred gtrs just for the fuck of it.

I know I played a cort four-stringer a few years ago at a shop an hour from here and it was a straight-up power beast, spent like probably 45 minutes givin'er on it while the shop owner was just giving me the 'i fucking hate you' look. but anyways.

FunkMetalBass 03-05-2011 05:58 PM

My only gripe with the 6-string version is the 34" scale. Without a 35" low B, I feel inadequate.

Also, I think I'm going to throw the original electronics back into my Spector 6 and sell it. I've come to realize that I just can't play it as well as my Schecter. I think it's due to the way it sits when strapped, and that's something I can't fix.

Epidemechanical 03-05-2011 06:42 PM

the pups + eq on this are hot as fuck

gotta turn wayyyy down to track it DI raw without bass HZ clipping slightly. although it might be a combo of fret buzz cuz i play action low as fuck

thats barts for you....

ill get used to it.

gaslight 03-06-2011 06:59 AM

Yeah the barts on my SR are massive loud.

Epidemechanical 03-06-2011 01:07 PM

made my first instrumental track with the curbow + schecter guitar

yay

needs vocals though

FunkMetalBass 03-07-2011 10:53 AM

Hey Raayl, if I send you some drum midis, can you sample them through DKFH and make them sound good?

BenJammin 03-07-2011 11:04 AM

Well, my band broke up.

FunkMetalBass 03-07-2011 11:06 AM
Well, my band broke up.
That really sucks dude - you were enjoying it. Why the split?

Weirdly enough, my band is considering reforming after last-night's show. It's the like the circle of life.

Thonk 03-07-2011 11:21 AM

if you meant 480 then yeah. mahogany body, maple/mahogany neck ( i think )

no clue about the pricing though

Thonk 03-07-2011 11:36 AM

would powder coating hardware be a stupid idea?

i cant justify spending the money on brand new hardware (bridge and tuners), but the black hardware is pretty faded.

edit: did some quick research and it's more expensive then i expected..

Yeah, and it's hard to find a powder coat company that will do such a small quantity.

Thin powder coats are actually better for hardware, IMO. You don't get the nice, shiny look of chrome or gold, but you do get a finish that will stay on.

I'm looking to build an 8 FX loop pedal and get the case powder coated in black, but so far have had no such luck.

Powder coating is how Hipshot does their Ultralites, by the way.

Eh, drummer has been flaking practice/recording a lot, and he's moving away in the fall. I might be moving in the fall, so it was kind of fighting against inevitability.

Sucks, though, because I was really looking forward to spending the summer gigging (best time of year to gig, obviously), and because I won't be playing much music until I figure out what I'm doing in the fall. Can't justify starting a project if I might be out of here in 5 months.

interesting..

i actually think my dad knows someone that does it.

im gonna look into it

FunkMetalBass 03-07-2011 06:58 PM

Check these guys out:
http://www.absolutepowdercoating.com/contact.html

They look to have reasonable prices. If they'll allow me to ship it there and back, it looks like I can probably get it done for about $10 a pedal.

Thonk 03-07-2011 09:28 PM

that sounds decent actually.

thanks for the link man. im gonna contact them when i can actually afford it lolol

fatbandit 03-08-2011 01:35 PM

back from scotland. perth, you rock. edinburgh... eh.

Epidemechanical 03-09-2011 09:27 AM

i need some new strings for my curbow 6

what do you guys recommend?

fatbandit 03-09-2011 12:15 PM

i don't really know anything about strings. there are about 4 companies i can realistically buy 7 string sets from, and i only ever really used rotos or slinkies before i bought my 7.

there are a lot of people vibing off some of the DR strings though, so I'd definitely look into seeing if any of them suit you.

brah u do realize that each drum sequencer uses different midi notes for different hits, right? so your midi is proly pretty useless

also pret sure raayl doesnt have dkfh
