I'm OBSESSED with When at the moment!

Shadius 06-03-2006 12:59 PM

When is a great song.

I've listened to nothing but Opeth in a day before probably a few months ago.. never all the albums in a row though.

I'd probably get sick of Opeth and want to listen to something else. It's possible i'll do it someday tho, maybe before I go see them.

 I'm obsessed with The Hearse in general atm. I don't think that will pass either.

N.P. When ~ Opeth

''When can I take you from this place...?''

JamJar 06-03-2006 03:02 PM

I love playing When. The riffs are so fun. It is one of Opeth's most emotional songs imo. MAYH is my favourite Opeth album, it's so good.

One of a Kind 06-03-2006 03:07 PM

I love Opeth. I saw them live in Edmonton, Alberta back on July 28th, 2005. They were ****ing awesome.

I'm not much of a lover of Ghost Reveries and Damnation, but I have every other album they have out and I have a Blackwater Park t-shirt.

Akerfeldt is so hilarious live. His voice is so monotone. hahaha

I'll drunk to that. :chug: The drums on that album are so technical, I have yet to hear an album with such emotion plus they only had 3 members when they recorded it. Akerfeldt, Lindgren, and Lopez.

Refl 06-03-2006 03:29 PM

Lol 2 Brum Opeth gigs in a year.
Score.

Hey I was there. :D I saw them again March 8th at Reds. :thumb:

MAYH was 6 $ less then usual last time I went to my local HMV. Even at thast price, I didn't have enough.

TojesDolan 06-03-2006 04:39 PM

yep MAYH is an excellent album. And when I listened to it fully I realized Martin Lopez copied a lot of drum beats and rhythms and used them in later songs.

Like... OK there's the a rhythm in "the Amen Corner", I believe, and it's used in the first heavy riff of "the Moor" and the the second heavy riff in "Wreath". Yeah awkwardness, indeed.

Crysiss 06-03-2006 04:41 PM

Ill have to listen for that. Wtf is that in your avatar?

You're not a big tool fan I presume. It's from the video of Parabola.

Captain Quentin 06-03-2006 11:28 PM

can anyone reccomend an album or songs that will help me get into opeth? ive got most of their albums but it just hasn't clicked with me yet

Shattered_Future 06-03-2006 11:30 PM

Bleak or The Leper Affinity worked rather well for me. For cleaner stuff, Hope Leaves or Windowpane.

Trivium616 06-03-2006 11:38 PM

Yeah, Bleak was the song that got me into Opeth. Also The Grand Conjuration helped out some.

Blackwater Park is a good album to start off with Opeth. It shows both Opeths soft side with songs like 'Harvest' and there heaviear ones like 'The Leper Affinity'. Also shows songs the have both parts,ex:'Blackwater Park', 'Bleak'.

Captain Quentin 06-04-2006 02:50 AM

alrighty thanks guys, i'll give those a shot

Carrionshine 06-04-2006 03:03 AM

Just give it time.It took months for Opeth to finally click with me.May not take that long for you, but you never know.

SmashingPumpkin 06-04-2006 03:14 AM

Ah, I just bought Blackwater Park this past week. It's such an amazing album. "The Leper Affinity" is awesome.

Gotta love Opeth.

Carrionshine 06-04-2006 03:18 AM

It's been Morningrise and MAYH for me all day yesterday and today. \m/

yeah, dream theater took me a while to get into, but now i love them :thumb:. Blackwater Park is starting to grow on me bleak, the drapery falls and blackwater park are awesome :thumb:

paco999 06-04-2006 09:38 AM

It only took me a week to get into Opeth but I still havent' really gotten in to Dream Theater as much as Opeth.

But anyways, the album that got me into it was Still Life, when this dude in my school let me listen to The Moor, I thought it was an odd band but I progressively got into it and loved it.

Whats funny is that I have never seen Still Life in any record store I've stepped foot in, so I had to burn that bad boy cause I really don't feel like ordering it online.

Kreator2112 06-04-2006 09:41 AM

I was listening to Damnation again a few weeks ago. I noticed what a great piece 'Weakness' is. I can't get enough of it.

JamJar 06-04-2006 09:42 AM

Still Life is virtually impossible in the States I've heard. Over here it's pretty much the only one I ever see along with Ghost Reveries.
