They have their fair share of quarrels, but as the series goes on, each gains a deeper understanding of what the other goes through, and their love deepens. The highlight is when Nikki escapes from prison for a night to sleep with Helen, and she finds out that her application for an appeal has been refused.
She gets depressed, but Helen manages to supress Nikki's wants to run away and convinces her to return.
Towards the end, Helen breaks it off with Nikki and begins to go with the awful Thomas fellow. Nikki eventually gets an appeal, wins, and is released from prison.
At her freedom party, Helen arrives just outside of the club, announces to Nikki that she was an idiot, and that even though Thomas has everything she wants in a man, she wants a woman.
And they kiss.
And it's officially the greatest TV show on EARTH.
There's also a ton of other storylines that I really don't care about.
But I really think it's replaced the L-Word as my favorite show.
'Course, that premiers tomorrow.
