"I've never been the biggest fan of metalcore in general (although I am partial to a bit of Dillinger Escape Plan or Converge every now and then) and listening to this album reminded me why.
As one of the current "it" genres that seems to be exploding in every direction it's only to be expected that Metalcore will have it's fair share of bandwagon-jumping crap and this feels like the logical byproduct of that.
It's all fairly standard metalcore fare with the same guitar tone you've heard on every Converge album so it wouldn't be any less that a generic 2 1/2 rating if it weren't for the fact that the pig squeals and death grunts are all piss weak, the guitar parts mostly feel uncomfortably uneven even for a metalcore album and every attempt at mixing it up a bit (like the piano and the clower sections) all feel forced and en up falling flat on their ***, but then again at least they tried to throw in a bit of variety, hence the 1 Star."
