So I just watched "Iron Maiden makes an album" on MTV2. I was surprised to see them, it was like a mini documentary about the new album.
She's American, Ozzy's English.
Other than that though, I fully agree with what you were saying.
No, she's British.

I believe i get that documentry with my deluxe edition album i ordered.

Arpanet 08-27-2006 02:44 AM
i have bought their entire discography and eddies archives. I payed way too much ($75 fuckin dollers) to see them play a 50 minute set at ozzfest. I think that should qualifie me as a "true" fan. We've abandoned them? They have fuckin abandoned us.
Wow, you wanna compare e-penises? I flew to New York from Chicago ($400 round-trip) to see them in 2003. I paid double for tickets on eBay so I'd get good seats at Ozzfest last year. I'll be taking a $30 bus to see them this fall. And you know what? It was worth every penny. Stop whining.

Do you think that if Dance of Death had sold more than 300,000 copies they wouldn't be touring more? There's a very small market for Iron Maiden in America these days. Sad but true. Don't blame the band, blame the people who stopped listening to their music.

Txus 08-27-2006 10:06 AM

The new album is too damn good.

/Feels ashamed for downloading it.

Deth 08-27-2006 10:09 AM

As you should. I'm still going to have to wait a while because of the stupid mail system.

New Agalloch is amazing as well btw. Bought it yesterday.

JamJar 08-27-2006 10:09 AM

I can't wait til tomorrow. So much good talk about the album :D

Indeed, it is.
Anyone else think these songs are gonna kill live? The Longest Day... Greater Good of God... Benjamin Breeg... The Legacy... *drool*

And Bruce isn't ****ting on American fans. He's ****ting on the American fans who haven't bought an album since 1988, have stopped going to shows, and just want to hear Run to the Hills and Number of the Beast so they can pretend to be 18 again. Those people aren't real fans, and Bruce is totally right. I've seen Maiden 3 times, and every time Bruce's attitude seems to be "you guys are great for coming out, and **** the people who've abandoned us." Makes sense to me.

JamJar, The Legacy is a great track, don't sweat it :)

Can I also get a link to that EP? jlenehan08 at amherst.edu. Thanks a bunch :)
I agree with this one.
These are the type of Maiden fans that can go piss up a rope, as far as I'm concerned. Maiden did a huge US tour for the Early days, to try to make an effort for new audiences, and look where it got them. 90% of US "metal" fans don't give a crap about Maiden, they just want to hear ****ing faggy Lamb of God and some gay metalcore act they can hit their wives and drink pissy beer to.

Well, what d'ya know.

Lord Abortion 08-27-2006 04:35 PM

/Downloads AMOLAD.

I'm weak I know, but I ordered it along with the new DT live album, and Amazon says it won't be here until the 5th, so I'm evening out the score.

Mikesn 08-27-2006 05:14 PM

I caved in as well, but it was more to get a better idea of what I was going to write for me review. I'm glad I did too, this thing is a beast.

I'm still going to buy it Tuesday of course.

Lord Abortion 08-27-2006 05:16 PM

****ing **** shaped ****ing cunts.

This is so ****ing good. I'm speechless.

JamJar 08-27-2006 05:19 PM

/loves all this amazing talk on the album.

To stop myself from caving in, I've been binging on the three available tracks. I can't wait for tomorrow.

Lord Abortion 08-27-2006 05:52 PM

1.45. Lord Of light. My jaw is on the floor

Surtr 08-27-2006 08:09 PM

Well..I've got it downloaded, I've got it set, I've got it ready, and I'm waiting.

In 2 hours it'll be the 28th, and I'll be able to listen to this without feeling I've done wrong. I'm going to hold out. I've got too lol. I can't bloody wait, and I'm sure I'll crack before it's tomorrow, but I've gotta' try.

Funny, this is the first real album that I've ever waited for. I've always been like, oh sweet the new Insert Random Band I Like Album is out today, I'll go buy it.

For this it's like.."OMFG I'm GOING TO **** MY PANTS IF I DON'T HEAR THIS THING SOON!"

Mikesn 08-27-2006 08:33 PM

Haha it's the same for me, though more because this is the first album I've had a chance to wait for. I only started heavily following metal around last November.

My review of A Matter of Life and Death is finished more or less, it should be up tomorrow morning for sure, or maybe even later tonight for you Europeans to wake up to in the morning. :thumb:

Surtr 08-27-2006 08:35 PM

Yeah, same here, I've only started up with Metal as of about a year ago too. I'm planning on doing a review AS I listen to it, so it's not so much a review, but a "What I thought of the album"and I'll probably just copy and paste and post it in here. :thumb:

Hour and a half..Ughhh..Time going so slow.

I'm from the US, and I love Metal...and sadly...you are 100% correct about that statement. So many people that I know that claim to love "metal" in fact have never heard an Iron Maiden song, or even don't like them in favor of these new crap underground hardcore/metalcore bands.

Surtr 08-27-2006 10:25 PM

I can't desribe this album other than with one word..Insane.

I am, of course the guy talking about the album.

Mikesn 08-27-2006 10:44 PM

I've been listening to it all day. Call me crazy, but... I'd say it's their best album since Somewhere in Time. By far...

I'm also eager to see where this whole Benjamin Breeg thing goes as well.

Surtr 08-27-2006 10:47 PM

I absaloutely agree. I love it. I'd say it's probably my favorite Maiden album.

(I'm at TROBB right now)

For The Greater Good Of God sounds like a Blood Brothers/The Thin Line type song, I love it.

I can't get over this album..It's so awesome, it's...*teary eye* beautiful.

lionelhutz88 08-27-2006 10:58 PM

I just finished listening to the album for the first time. Man, it is sweet. I do wish that Bruce's voice was mixed just a bit higher, but it's no biggie. I'm really digging Nicko's drumming throughout the whole album. He is so solid.

Surtr 08-27-2006 11:00 PM

I was talking to my friend, and I was going to tell him when I heard the first note of the album before he left. And Nicko says "Aye" or whatever and I was like "Nicko starts it, I love it already".

lionelhutz88 08-27-2006 11:07 PM

Nicko's drumming is always real tasteful. I can't think of any Iron Maiden songs where I thought he overplayed.

Mikesn 08-27-2006 11:30 PM

I'm really digging the first few verses of The Longest Day, the build up is very epic sounding.

pate 08-28-2006 12:30 AM

The whole album is amazing. It surpassed my expectations.

playguitar 08-28-2006 01:51 AM

Decent new album, better than anything they've released in a long time. But nothing will ever top Powerslave.

Surtr 08-28-2006 04:10 AM

Wow. Just wow.

I woke up this morning (Really earlier than usual, it's 6AM just now) and I started to sing (In my head) this guitar line, and then suddenly I was like.. I've been listening to Maiden all night! I forgot to turn off my iPod! Ha! Subliminal Messages ftw! :p

I still love it hearing it this morning :)

Lord Abortion 08-28-2006 05:32 AM

It really is brilliant, I'm on my third time listening to it through, and it's just great.
Favourite songs so far are These colours don't run, the Legacy and for the greater good of God.

Surtr 08-28-2006 05:41 AM

I love...

Different Worlds
These Colours Don't Run
Brighter Than A Thousand Suns
The Longest Day
The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg
For The Greater Good Of God
The Legacy

The other's are awesome tracks, but these ones are my favorites.

Lord Abortion 08-28-2006 05:48 AM

I love them all, to be honest.

hellrider 08-28-2006 05:59 AM

Brighter Than A Thousand Suns

were they quoting judas priest painkiller there i havent heard the album yet but im sure going to order it soon

Surtr 08-28-2006 06:02 AM

It's so progressive. I can't get over it. It's intensely progressive. It almost doesn't feel like Maiden, but when you listen to it, you kinda' go "There's no way anyone but Maiden could do that".

I've listened to nothing but Maiden since last night, and I'm wondering if I can listen to anything else. It'll just be like..Wow this other band sucks.

-The Frank 08-28-2006 06:07 AM

My copy wont be arriving for a while :(. All this talk is getting me really anxious to :(.

hellrider 08-28-2006 06:14 AM

also why is everyone putting out there email address just want to know and

kieranjackson@fsmail.net could someone send me what ever it is?

MrConeman 08-28-2006 07:40 AM

Well, right after this post I'm leaving to buy amolad :) :)
I'll give my opinion when I've bought/heard it.

Stoo 08-28-2006 07:50 AM

Got it from Play.com this morning...

/listens.

Up to track 7 just now. Gooooooooooooooooooooooood Shism!

The only 2 Maiden albums I own are the first one and this one. 25 years apart!

deathscreamingsheep 08-28-2006 07:56 AM

I bought it just this morning. I also like it thus far though i haven't litsened all the way through. Currently I'm thinking I preferred Dance of Death of the recent albums, but this one certainly has its gems. I've got an Iced Earth album this morning as well so I'm a bit metalled out (not as big a metal fan as most on these R&M boards) so I'll give it a full listen later on.

-The Frank 08-28-2006 08:15 AM

I want my copy soooo bad, and i refuse to download it :(.

JamJar 08-28-2006 09:13 AM

First listen to the album just finished. It's pretty awsome and I can tell that when I get into it, it's going to be one of my favourite Maiden albums. My favourite tracks on the first listen are "Brighter Than A Thousand Suns", "For The Greater Good Of God" and "The Legacy."
