Shattered_Future 06-08-2006 04:32 PM

I'm gonna go play in a few minutes...

repcak 06-08-2006 06:05 PM

in the last week i've played guitar for not more than 2/3hours and the last time was monday. before i hardly played guitar too. just lack of time.

... and right now i can't fall asleep cause i have to wake up at 8am  everytime i have to wake up so early i just can't fall asleep... its always the same.

kurrpt 06-09-2006 07:24 AM

you guys are full of SH!T, making excuses like "i dont have time"

try working 10 hours a fukking day, and STILL being able to practice for 5 hours, juggle a girlfriend you live with, keep up with house work, etc.

Basically, I dont care either way, just stop lying to yourself

AA-12 06-09-2006 07:35 AM

I just don't like playing a lot, and I have no girlfriend, no job, and I rarely hang out with friends. I've set my life up weird, but i'm completely happy with it.

/honesty

kurrpt 06-09-2006 07:41 AM

i just find it pathetic when people have to make excuses to justify their stance.

Do you ever get sleep!!!!!

kurrpt 06-09-2006 07:50 AM

ultimately boss, if you want it bad enough, no one can stop you stop you but yourself. I think im easily living proof of that
Do you ever get sleep!!!!!
i usually get about 5-6 hours on the weekdays, and about 6-7 on the weekends. I just started a regimented routine, so I feel the need to practice even more.

If i cant fall asleep, like last night, i just bring the guitar in bed (sit up) and just practice practice practice. I figure i might as well get something out of the time, instead of rolling around bed for an hour straight before sleep eventually finds me

repcak 06-09-2006 09:00 AM

if you really want to practise/play guitar you will find the time, sure.
but i for myself have routines in my life: i can't (you can say, you don't want) play during day, cause during day i learn for the university, and right now i have to learn till late in the evening/night and afterwards i'm burnt-out, so that i only go to the internet or read a book, but i don't play guitar, tough if i really wanted to, i could.
last night i couldn't fall asleep and it was wasted time - i slept from 12am till 3pm now... not more than 3hours.

my point is: you're right that you can play guitar if you really want to, but everbody has its own routines in life and sometime the guitar doesn't fit into it. for playing/practising you need concentration, but when you are burnt-out, you just don't want to...

kurrpt 06-09-2006 09:51 AM

fair enough, but as I was saying, if theres a desire there that wont be satiated, you will find time

repcak 06-09-2006 10:18 AM

the only thing i worry about is that when i make a long break i won't be able to play for 3-5hours again, cause i won't be accustomed to it. so maybe it would be better to play at least 1hour.
at least in july i will have a lot of time to play guitar ...

here comes the bird flu 06-09-2006 11:00 AM

Simple Solution: Play guitar, while your on the computer.

kurrpt 06-09-2006 11:16 AM

i basically play it where ever, when ever

here comes the bird flu 06-09-2006 11:46 AM

Me too. But since I spend a lot of my time at home on the computer, it tends to be played the most here.

kurrpt 06-09-2006 11:47 AM

i have no internets at home, so i really dont have many distractions, besides my girlfriend/fiancee

here comes the bird flu 06-09-2006 11:49 AM

I slightly gasp when I hear there are people who don't have internet at their house. It's a sub-concious thing.

kurrpt 06-09-2006 11:51 AM

no, its completely understandable, but I'm really stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes down to it.

Either i have dial up, which requires a home phone which i would never use. We currently get free cable, so in order for me to go that route, i would have to pay for cable, and then cable modem on top of that...

here comes the bird flu 06-09-2006 11:54 AM

Ah, I see; and I understand YOU completely.

kurrpt 06-09-2006 11:57 AM

you basically learn to do without. Its probably a good thing, as its not deterring me from practicing and what not

here comes the bird flu 06-09-2006 12:03 PM

Yeah. If I didn't have the internet at home, i'd probobly get a LOT more accomplished.

kurrpt 06-09-2006 12:07 PM

exactly...

I phased out 98% of my video game playing as well, which helps me to stay focused. All I do is smoke cigarettes and play guitar. It should REALLY pay off dividends in about a year or two

here comes the bird flu 06-09-2006 12:09 PM

Videogames have never been a problem for me. Yesterday was the first time i've played a videogame anywhere for well over six months.

kurrpt 06-09-2006 12:12 PM

i play Nintendo DS every now and again. My PSP sucks with no online connection

here comes the bird flu 06-09-2006 12:14 PM

I tried Nintendo DS once. I was horrible. That little pad that you can use the stick to control with is impossible to use.

AA-12 06-09-2006 12:15 PM

I mainly just play World of Warcraft now. Other games come and go.

my girl was pretty bad with, but got better over time.

You should REALLY see a game of Meteos being played

here comes the bird flu 06-09-2006 12:17 PM

I'm thinking I might take a look at WoW and see just how cool of a game it really is.

hah

Anyway, about CoB..

I'm learning Children of Decadence as we speak.

kurrpt 06-09-2006 12:20 PM

i really cant get into the games where it takes 300+ hours to be hXn/1337s

here comes the bird flu 06-09-2006 12:24 PM

Yeah the game I was playing yesterday was the new Lord Of the Rings RPG. Me and my friend played it for six hours and didn't even get out of the Mines of Moria.
It was intense.

AA-12 06-09-2006 12:24 PM
i really cant get into the games where it takes 300+ hours to be hXn/1337s
Eh, it doesn't. (assuming you mean WoW)

I was learning Silent Night, Bodom Night earlier.

here comes the bird flu 06-09-2006 12:26 PM

I like how CoB have either 'Children' or 'Bodom' in 60% of their song titles.

AA-12 06-09-2006 12:30 PM

Haha, yeah.

kurrpt 06-09-2006 12:31 PM

im still geting bed of razors "perfect". Most sections are "good", but now like they should sound in my head.

I worked on the a ton of Nevermore sweeps for about 2 hours last night. Its a little obsessive like that

obviously, there was some exageration involved, but really, with games like FF5058485409 or Everquest, its not out of the ordinary

here comes the bird flu 06-09-2006 12:34 PM

Time flies when your playing guitar. I'll look at the clock one minute, then look back fifteen minutes later and it's been three hours.

kurrpt 06-09-2006 12:36 PM
Time flies when your playing guitar. I'll look at the clock one minute, then look back fifteen minutes later and it's been three hours.
i was doing that while going through "Steve Vai's 30 hour workout"

obviously, i realize its not the exercises, but the focus involved, but some were a different approach than im used to, which makes it perfect

I think i might go the egg timer route, and set it at 30 minute intervals, and break my "workout" into 8 sections, or 4 hours a day.

here comes the bird flu 06-09-2006 12:38 PM

That's a good idea. I think i'd probobly be to ADD for anything like that.

kurrpt 06-09-2006 12:40 PM

nah, its actually stops me from going ADD from it. If i really get into an exercise, theres really no stop to how long you can practice to get it "perfect"

this way, you really just focus, and when the timer goes off, <DING> next topic/exercise

here comes the bird flu 06-09-2006 12:43 PM

hmm. I'll have to try a timer.

kurrpt 06-09-2006 12:44 PM

i want to become more organized with my routine, instead of flying by the seat of my pants. I think it would help me to focus even more, and make it more regimented, which would allow me to become a more rounded musician, in theory
