The stuff I said I would be digging. Mostly Yusef Lateef. His version of "First Gymnopaedia" is really pretty. I also listened to some of Killer Mike's new album thing which though not quite as pretty, is really cool.
currently digging In on the Killtaker by Fugazi. "Facet Squared" has such an awesome riff and chorus. Wow.
That's my favourite Fugazi album. I probably listen to "Facet Squared" at least once a week. "Public Witness Program" is almost as good, especially the bit with the handclaps. They somehow make them sound really sinister. |
Subtle - For Hero: For Fool
Yup, this. Just getting going with it, but musically, it's much more rock than I anticipated. It barely has a foot in hip-hop. Last night as I was writing about eschatology, Brian Eno/Harold Budd - The Pearl Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear the Heart Beating As One |
I would think REM's Document would be more fitting.

 They're basically why YDload was put on this earth. I'm listening to that four disc set Factory Records put out to prevent themselves from going unders like a decade ago, Palatine. It failed, but it's awesome still. |

Robert Pollard - Normal Happiness |
^Isn't that his second album this year?? I'm not even done listening to From a Compound Eye. That boy's been busy.
|
Destroyer - Destroyer's Rubies
King Crimson - Lark's Tongues in Aspic |
Killer Mike - I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind
His 2-cd album bootleg thingie. Pretty cool, negative points for using a "I'm the Juggernaut, bitch" sample. Or maybe... bonus points. Good MC. |
