a lot of Elliott Smith lately. i never realized how solid Either/Or is until now. definitely his most consistent album.
So the Pixies (or just "Pixies?") are pretty much an awesome band. :)
indeed |
Okay the Dog Fashion Disco album Adultery is definitely awesome. Most of the songs are just Bungle/SOAD-like circus metal, but they also threw in "Desert Grave" which is just a straight-up country song. Sort of like how they put "Pogo The Clown" in their last album (a lounge song without any other frills).
That's good to know. I'll have to try and find it (and Committed..) for a decent price, I think. Anyway, yesterday, amongst others things, I listened to the Nick Drake albums that aren't Pink Moon, and in short I'm glad I got them. First impressions are that Bryter Layter is pretty good, but not of the quality of the other two; it sounds a little like he's coasting, like he could have made an album of that kind of quality in his sleep. Five Leaves Left is just great, though. |
Two copies of Kid A, 17 seconds apart. Trippy.
Islands - Return To The Sea |
Silver Jews - Tanglewood Numbers
Gangstarr - Full Clip Jimmy Smith - Back At the Chicken Shack Madvillian - Madvilliany Cee Lo - Cee Lo Green Is the Soul Machine Nightmares on Wax - Carboot Soul Shuggie Otis - Inspiration Information Busdriver - Fear of a Black Tangent Word |
Mute Math - Self-Titled
Explosions in the Sky - Those Who Tell the Truth...(big album name) We Followed Tigers - And Then We Were Killed Anyone have any recommendations for stuff to check out? I'm rather new to the alternative and indie genres. |
Pixies- Doolittle, Surfer Rosa, Wave Of Mutilation: Best of Pixies
Built to Spill- Keep It Like A Secret... Carry the Zero and Broken Chairs sure are great songs! |
I think I'll be permanently digging Wilco for the rest of my life, as if they weren't frequently dug before.
Yeah, if you get a chance to see them, see them. |
I think I'll be permanently digging Wilco for the rest of my life, as if they weren't frequently dug before.
Yeah, if you get a chance to see them, see them.
Oh man, I want to hear about this. What did they play? |
The Fiery Furnaces - Bitter Tea
Too bad, it looks like this record is getting ignored. It's excellent. Lots of variety and some of the best Furnace material to date. |
Ben Folds Five - Rockin' The Suburbs
|
Oh man, I want to hear about this.
What did they play?
Like everything. They played for 2 hours, came back and played FIVE more songs, left again, and came back and played two (or three?) MORE! |
I would've seen Wilco if my dad hadn't been retarded about getting tickets for me and him.
|
The Union Underground - An Education In Rebellion
This is pretty good, if a little generic at times. I'll be playing this on the way up to see my girlfriend. Rest assured I will be driving some way over the speed limit while this is playing. |
Elliott Smith - From A Basement on the Hill
Stars - Set Yourself on Fire |
The Drones - Here Come the Lies
Boris - Pink The Sultans - Shipwrecked |
From Autumn To Ashes - The Fiction We Live
Meh..I guess this is one of those albums that has to grow on you, on first listen it seems like generic crap. |
If I ever had an album that I should actually feel bad about owning and liking, it'd be that.

The reggae/jazz cover of Stairway to Heaven is sooo cool. There's some great songs covered on this live album, and all are entertaining and well done. |
