Broadcast - Tender Buttons

this is a good album. I enjoy how all the instruments sound broken.
Such a freaking awesome album. Reminds me a ton of the Velvet Underground, if done on one keyboard with a female singer. You know.

I've been on a My Morning Jacket kick lately. I like both Z and Okonokos. Off The Record is an awesome song (and on both Z and Okonokos - how handy!) I like Okonokos better for it's energy - Being live the crowd both helps and hurts the recording, but overall I think the band really feeds off it and it shows!

Love the Lemonheads. I need to get that album. I only have the greatest hits thingy.

That album was so overlooked considering just how great it is. "A Glow" is such a painfully classic closer.

My last.fm this week was basically lots of eels followed by little bits of everythign else.

The Red Paintings are horrible.

Jay Z - Reasonable Doubt
Snow Patrol - Final Straw
Mobb Deep - The Infamous

And some other stuff I can't remember.

The Speaking Canaries - Get Out Alive (The Long Version)

Awesome indie noise math rock, with Don Cab's Demon Che playing every instrument and singing. It's best when it's more melodic than math, but it's really good throughout.

Bukowski 10-09-2006 12:30 PM
I dig the new Blood Brothers so far. 7 tracks in and it's seeming just as a catchy as Crimes and heavier and more spastic in parts and then more poppy than Crimes in other parts. Basically, so far it seems like the best parts of Crimes and BPIP in one.
It's good.

i don't really remember much from it thuogh

Maybe not quite horrible, but they sure do annoy the crap outta me.

mr_jackalope 10-09-2006 07:24 PM

Today I've listened exclusively to CDs I haven't heard:

The Gothic Archies - The Tragic Treasury (fabulous)
Shout Out Out Out Out - Not Saying / Just Saying (unimpressive)
Damien Jurado - And Now That I'm In Your Shadow (pretty good)
Jeffrey and Jack Lewis - City and Eastern Songs (another fabulous)
The Bird and the Bee - Again and Again and Again and Again (great, though it's just a single; these guys could turn into something stellar)
The Clean Prophets - Praise is Poison (fun)

Now playing: The Oxford Collapse - Remember the Night Parties

1 word review ftw
