ok, i will stop... how long did it take you to learn arpeggios? i mean, to play them fast?!

MRDuCran 03-03-2006 07:02 PM

I could play the first bar of Serrana in the first night I learnt it, but it was really slow. I've been sweep picking for about a year, it does take alot of time and patience.
I kinda learn things fast though.

Yeah I just started learning sweeping, i can do all the crazy arpeggio stuff but when it comes to actually learning one's from a song....forget it.

MRDuCran 03-03-2006 10:41 PM

 You just started sweeping but you can do crazy arpeggio stuff...um.

I'm Charming 03-03-2006 11:45 PM

I started Lashed To The Slave Stick tonight and made good progress. It's not very hard. It's also really fun to play and sounds sweet... Though sadly theres no way in hell to tune down to AEADBE, I can't even go down to CGCFAD. The strings will flop.

Though with the wonders of ajusting my amp's tone and trying different palm muting tecniques I have it sounding pretty damn heavy and good.

I've gotten pretty good at ajusting tone btw. lol.

Hollywood Rose 03-04-2006 01:30 AM

It's alright to play the "step down" stuff in standard, doesn't sound as bad as I thought.

repcak 03-04-2006 05:46 AM

the only arpeggio part i can play as fast as it should be is the intro to swamphell by kalmah... this song is just great, and the arpeggio is easy.

Never heard it, I'm going to download some of their stuff 'cause I've never heard it.

repcak 03-04-2006 09:15 AM

if you want i can send you the song through email...

MRDuCran 03-04-2006 09:25 AM

It's cool man, I just downloaded it. I hear the arpeggios, the sound alot easier than anything Becker, Cooley or Li have written. I'll give em a shot later I think.

If you find the chorus easy, you're playing it wrong.

I havn't gotten there yet. ftr.

That the part where you skip down several strings at lightning pace? Back and forth?

That seems like it will be pretty damn hard.

PsychoticFlubber 03-04-2006 02:42 PM

Zakk Wylde rarely ever sweeps. The only sweeps he does are just between two strings, which I don't personally consider sweeps. If you want to start sweeping, I suggest doing things slowly like 3 string arpeggios and then 5 string. I was dumb and started off with 5, but I got it down far quicker than anyone else I ever knew.

Shadows 03-04-2006 02:47 PM

Norwegian is a pretty awesome language.

Haha that bit is HARD. I'm going to record the first bit of it later, but not that bit.

I played through it at about 1/5 speed or so.. lawl.

Then sped it up a bit, damn... HARD AS HELL.
I got up to that point down pretty damn well. So I'm happy about that.

I'll start the torture of learning that next part later. oh boi.. already sounds fun :p

MRDuCran 03-04-2006 08:39 PM

Mmmm, it seems that the tab for Lashed to the Slave stick is pretty wrong, according to Karl and Joe.

Shadows 03-04-2006 08:42 PM

I finally got a working version of GP and have begun my love affair with The Leper Affinity.

MRDuCran 03-04-2006 08:47 PM

A working version, what was up with the others and where did you get them??

Shadows 03-04-2006 08:48 PM

I don't know what was up. I had gp4, but I could only play gp3 files. Anything newer and I would get "to open this file, please update your guitar pro software". I deleted everything and pirated a new copy and now it all works.

MRDuCran 03-04-2006 09:14 PM

You just needed the update unstaller thingy, but it's all good now.

I'm Charming 03-04-2006 09:51 PM
You just needed the update unstaller thingy, but it's all good now.
!!!!

!!!!

!!!!

Do not attempt to up date any pirated software or OS

The serial will hit the "black list" and it will become invalid

In the case of Guitar Pro, it reverts into the demo

Mitch: Which tab are you referring to and which way is correct?

I've only just signed up these forums (hey all!), so quickly I'd like to say Bodom are one of my all time favourite bands.

On the point of their last album, I didn't really like it. It just seemed too... "punky" (I'm gunna get flamed for that) in my opinion. It wasn't typical Bodom style, and I'm quite disappointed in it.

Favourite album, for me, would probably be Hatebreeder, closely followed by Something Wild (Lake Bodom = GOD). Hatebreeder had the classic that is Silent Night, Bodom Night, as well as Hatebreeder, Children Of Bodom and Downfall. Great songs those. Although I must say, I think I'm the only person who doesn't like Warheart.

Oh yeah, and I'm a drummer. ^^

First... Welcome to the forums!!!

You quite possibly are the only person who doesn't like Warheart.

AYDY wasn't "punky". I don't hear that at all in it. It's in fact alot heavier then CoB's other works. You most likely don't like it because there isn't the neo classical elements in it. (listing Something Wild and Hatebreeder as your favs would lead me to believe this).
Hatebreeder is second best in my book. Follow The Reaper being first.

If you listen through each album, in order... You can hear they were getting heavier and heavier with each release.

I think Something Wild is more "punky" then AYDY by far. With "The Nail".

Yeah I dig what you're saying, but by punky I just meant it seemed too... straight forward. You know? I couldn't say it's verse-chorus-verse-chorus because alot of their older songs are like that in way, but yeah, maybe it is the whole neo classical thing that seems missing.

Try playing some of the songs on AYDY, many of them are actually more technical then older CoB.

FTW.

Inkstar 03-05-2006 01:22 AM

True hey? I may just do that.

By the way, me and some mates are doing Lake Bodom for a local Battle Of The Bands competition. All the other bands play crap like... I dunno, crap. :P

But yeah, gogo us.
