I see Eleventeen has done a small avatar switch. Can't quite make it out, though...what's it of?

Iron Man 01-25-2005 08:28 PM

I've had the same avatar forever, I might switch it if I can find something to switch to

BoboTheRagingHobo 01-25-2005 08:30 PM

Its a Kalmah album cover.

So we have an unofficial Disturbed thread, I wonder how long it'll be until that turns into a flamefest

BoboTheRagingHobo 01-25-2005 08:37 PM

Hmmm

Maybe I should go in there, I have a strong hate for Disturbed. They got raved about so much, yet they suck so bad and are so bland. Plus the lead singer is a wanker...

i am the robots 01-25-2005 08:39 PM

Yes, Disturbed is one of the many bands that gives nu-metal a bad name (IMO the whole genre excluding Deftones, Korn, Adema, System Of A Down, Mudvayne, TRUSTcompany and Taproot).

Permanent Solution 01-25-2005 08:45 PM

I like em.

Per Ardua Ad Astra 01-25-2005 08:46 PM

I've been listening to so much jazz lately, i love it.

BoboTheRagingHobo 01-25-2005 08:46 PM

Yes, Disturbed is one of those generic bands that can give a genre a band name.

I like some nu-metal, but Disturbed is seriously the bottom of the barrel when it comes to originality or anything.

i am the robots 01-25-2005 08:47 PM

Yes, they're pretty much one of the 5th generation Korn recreation attempts.

Just straight up jazz or like jazz fusion? I love fusion, but just plain jazz sometimes bores me.

Funny, just tonight a bandmate asked me if I like Disturbed (Not a metal fan). I said no and told him whihc Nu-metal bands I did like. He was suprised to find out that System of a Down were Nu-Metal.

Sun Ra?

Yea.

Also what fueled my hatred for them, back in high school my friend would rave about them all day long, have tons of merch with their logo on it and listen to them all day long and rave about how David was a brilliant man blah blah blah.

That got annoying quick, especially seeing the band sucked so bad.

It started off mainly fusion with the likes of Mahavishnu Orchestra. Right now i'm listening to Chick Corea

i am the robots 01-25-2005 08:55 PM

Haha, yeah my one friend is a major Disturbed fan, he also raves about Limp Bizkit and Drowning Pool... lol.

What do you guys think about Linkin Park's old stuff... I just started listening to their underground stuff again (Xero, Dedicated, 3-song EP, Live at the Whiskey, and Hybrid Theory EP) and I've noticed that it's a lot more complex, and a lot less generic than Meteora.

Permanent Solution 01-25-2005 08:59 PM

I like the EP, but that's all I've heard.

I think the EP is their best album.... Hybrid Theory was good aswell IMO then Reanimation came and they went downhill... Meteora had a few good songs here and their, but it'll be remembered for songs like Faint, Numb, and Breaking The Habit /shakes head

Meh, I liked it all...I am pretty much into any music I can listen to without getting bored or turned off by, and it was still pretty catchy...

Dancin' Man 01-25-2005 09:11 PM

Hybrid Theory = one of the best nu-metal albums ever.
