Thor 08-21-2006 08:58 AM

I have only heard "The Reincarnation...". Can anyone give me some links to where I can listen to their other songs?

JamJar 08-21-2006 09:01 AM

You can listen to Different Worlds and Brighter Than A Thousand Suns at www.ironmaiden.com

Thor 08-21-2006 09:03 AM

Wow, don't I feel like a moron. I guess I just never check band's official sites. Thanks, though.

By the way, anyone else a huge fan of Somewhere In Time? That's now my 2nd favorite Maiden album.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-21-2006 09:14 AM

It's alright, but there are a number of albums I would rate above it.

JamJar 08-21-2006 09:52 AM

It always seems to stay about middle of my ever changing Maiden albums list.

Its near the top of my Maiden album list. Fantastic album:)

Could a kind person please explain what this talk of a t-shirt is about? Me wants one:)

JamJar 08-21-2006 10:53 AM

You can order a copy of AMOLAD deluxe edition with a free tee-shirt from Sanctuary Records, but it's and American offer so you'd get the album a week later.

Quiksilver26 08-21-2006 11:08 AM

@ Thor, if you wanna hear clips from each song go to http://www.maidenfans.com i think it was. I don't think they're long enough to ruin the anticipation or surprise for anyone... honestly i've forgotten what each of them sounds like, but i do remember that i had no complaints :)

And I fricken love SiT, TLotLDR is such an epic song.

edit: fixed link

I'm looking at purchasing another Maiden album, at this point I only own The Number of the Beast, any suggestions?

JamJar 08-21-2006 01:42 PM

Try Powerslave if you liked The Number Of The Beast. Also if you want to hear some of their more recent stuff I would reccomend Brave New World.

victim of changes 08-21-2006 01:42 PM

Piece of Mind, and Powerslave will give u that classic maiden feel those 2 i suggest highest but i also recomend their self titled and killers which are their first two albums that feature a different vocalist, and i also highly recomend Brave New World and Dance of Death both albums released in this century great work a real return to form for maiden.

PAJJ 08-21-2006 02:37 PM

i've had a "new" thought on this go conronological, so self titled is your next purchase, then killers, piece of mind, powerslave, SiT etc

You really cant go wrong with powerslave or seventh son of a seventh son, both ace albums and really easy to get into.

If you want to check out more of their earlier stuff then i'd reccommend buying their S/T

crag 08-22-2006 10:17 AM

You really can't go wrong with any of their albums although i'd steer clear of X-Factor unless you want something completely different.

pate 08-22-2006 10:28 AM

I would say that the X Factor is far, far better than Virtual XI.

The X Factor isn't a bad album. I would probably put it in the lower-middle of Maiden albums.

TojesDolan 08-22-2006 10:40 AM

Virtual IX is a very strange little album.

I can't get past "Futureal". It's the only song I genuinely like in there.

JamJar 08-22-2006 10:54 AM

The X-Factor is infinitely better than VXI. VXI is definitely my least favourite Maiden album. The only songs I actually like on there are Futureal, The Clansman and Como Estais Amigos.

Lord Abortion 08-22-2006 10:58 AM

X Factor is my second favourite Maiden album, really.

pate 08-22-2006 10:59 AM

It's an excellent album.

Monstar1790 08-22-2006 11:05 AM

For me, the only song on The X Factor that really stands out is Sign of the Cross. I'd put it up there with any other classic Iron Maiden song.

JamJar 08-22-2006 11:06 AM

I think that all the songs on The X Factor are top notch but are somewhat let down by the hollow production.

BassMasterMike88 08-22-2006 11:22 AM
You really can't go wrong with any of their albums although i'd steer clear of X-Factor unless you want something completely different.
What exactly do you mean by different? Like how is it different from more traditional Maiden?

Lord Abortion 08-22-2006 11:28 AM
What exactly do you mean by different? Like how is it different from more traditional Maiden?
It's very dark and introverted.
Instead of dealing with traditional Maiden lyrical themes, it's, well, more grown up than that, more about the psychological aspects of warfare and what it does to the the participants, than describing the battle in a gung-ho, king and country way like, say, the trooper.

pate 08-22-2006 11:29 AM

Indeed. Steve was going through some shit at the time, so it took on a much darker tone.

Lord Abortion 08-22-2006 11:37 AM

Yeah, which helps in the course of creativity.
Basically Steve said "We're in our mid-thirties, we have more to say about the world and our experience of it than some sci-fi world or battlefield."

pate 08-22-2006 11:42 AM

Indeed. Official Maiden Biography FTW.

Yup.

Arucard 08-22-2006 02:07 PM

Ok, my are now covering Wrathchild instead of Iron Maiden which is sick. Can't wait to kill those awesome wah licks.

Surtr 08-22-2006 02:16 PM

VXI > X Factor....<_< >_>

You rate that higher than Number of The Beast ??

Lord Abortion 08-22-2006 03:30 PM
You rate that higher than Number of The Beast ??
Yep. I rate it higher than anything but Piece of Mind.
NOTB does have the best song ever written to close it though...

Deth 08-22-2006 08:12 PM

NOTB is the most overrated Maiden album by far and I barely listen to it.

Of course, Hallowed > Everything.

DeafForever 08-22-2006 09:01 PM
NOTB does have the best song ever written to close it though...

Of course, Hallowed > Everything.
'Hallowed Be Thy Name' is hands-down the greatest song ever written.

Quiksilver26 08-22-2006 10:33 PM

123.

-The Frank 08-23-2006 03:41 AM
You rate that higher than Number of The Beast ??
NOTB is probably the second worse maiden album IMO. Still a great album though. Even bad maiden albums are still awesome albums.

TXF would also probably be in my top5 maiden albums.
But i really think we should give NPFTD alot more credit then it gets, it has some great songs on it and the only really downfall of the album is the production, otherwise i love it.

2muchket! 08-23-2006 04:45 AM

Well I only own two IM albums and I've only heard another one in its entireity. I was blown away when I heard Hallowed Be Thy Name. One of my all time favourite songs with The Prisoner a close second.

JamJar 08-23-2006 05:13 AM
You rate that higher than Number of The Beast ??
That's one of my least favourite Maiden albums.
But i really think we should give NPFTD alot more credit then it gets, it has some great songs on it and the only really downfall of the album is the production, otherwise i love it.
I think it's a good album but all of the songs are sort of middle range Maiden songs. There's no real stand out pieces on it.

PAJJ 08-23-2006 05:26 AM

i don't think NOTB is the second worst maiden album, (but then i have issues ordering them), and as for NPFTD having no standout songs, i think BYDTTS is excellent, there's the S/T, HS (and don't forget the excellent video :)) although the lack of progression, production, and some of the other songs to let the side down a bit.
