It's not that I have a problem with demos or EP's, I just don't have an urge to look for their demo. I'll probably eventually get it though. And yes, Haunting the Chapel is the shit.
I've heard Practice What You Preach before, and I dig it, what album is the song Electric Crown on?
If you Testament best, earliest, and thrashiest album. Get The Legacy. The next 4 albums that come after that one are good, but not half as good as that one. Electric Crown is on The Ritual

NP: Ritual Carnage - Paradox of Democracy

You guys really should find this stuff, it's great

Freezing Moon 05-22-2006 09:25 PM

The only Ritual Carnage I have is The Highest Law which is good. How's it compare to their other stuff?

NP: Ritual Carnage - Servant of the Black

That's the only album of their's that I don't have!

I have the other three. Personally I think Every Nerve Alive is the best of those three. The other two are great as well, but not quite as brutal.

NP: Ritual Carnage - Shroud of Secrecy

Well, if the others are anywhere near as good as this, I'm going to have to get them. Man, this thrashes hard.

NP: Ritual Carnage - The Highest Law

FatalEnergy 05-22-2006 10:04 PM

The only bad thing is on the albums after Every Nerve Alive the dude changed his vocal style, and it sounds really funky. It's like punky crossover vocals over brutal thrash rather than brutal thrash vocals over brutal thrash. The riffs are still killer though

AA-12 05-22-2006 10:09 PM

All I know is that I love Servant of the Black.

FatalEnergy 05-22-2006 11:25 PM

I can't find that damn album on Soulseek

Bumpage

What do you guys think of the new Sodom? I finally picked it up today

AA-12 05-23-2006 10:25 PM

I love it.

Bazarov 05-23-2006 10:51 PM

I haven't got my hands on it yet. But seeing as M-16 was awesome, I'm pretty sure this one is great.

FatalEnergy 05-23-2006 11:39 PM

I like M-16 a lot more. This one isn't bad, but some of the songs are quite different for Sodom. It's way more melodic than anything they've previously done.

NP:Sodom - No Captures

Apocalyptic Raids 05-24-2006 01:55 AM

I listened through the leak a couple of time, then deleted it. It seemed pretty decent. Lords of Depravity is a great song.

FatalEnergy 05-24-2006 05:36 PM

Yeah, Lords of Depravity is probably the best thing on there. I think there's too much Melodic crap. Like the newer Kreator. City of God for example, is kind of Gothenburgish

Bazarov 05-24-2006 06:02 PM

Is Tankard's Zombie Attack as bad as the reviews it got on M-A? I'm most likely going to get it anyways and decide for myself though, just want to get some MX opinions.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-24-2006 07:45 PM

The only Tankard I've heard is The Morning After, sorry.

FatalEnergy 05-25-2006 10:03 PM

I won backstage passes to Destruction!

Weren't they recently in LA? You're lucky, and I am envious.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-25-2006 10:11 PM

I hate you :(

FatalEnergy 05-25-2006 10:24 PM

I'll get some awesome picture with Schmier and Mike. Too bad the show isn't for another month, but I'm hella stoked! How often does someone get to meet and hang out with their favorite band?!
Weren't they recently in LA? You're lucky, and I am envious.
They're starting on the east coast and making their way over here. I'm seeing them in San Fran
I hate you :(
If I was you, I'd hate me too

They need to stop by San Diego. Next month I'll be out of school, it's a slim chance that I'd probably get to see them in San Fran. Super slim. Post pictures.
Guitarists Larry Barragan and Rob Trevino from the "Remnants Of War"-era lineup of HELSTAR have revealed to LivingForMetal.com in a recent interview that the band is officially back together and that plans exist to record new material. The group's current lineup is completed by singer James Rivera (also in VICIOUS RUMORS, KILLING MACHINE), bassist Jerry Abarca and drummer Russell DeLeon. An excerpt from the chat follows:

LivingForMetal.com: So would you say HELSTAR is officially back and you plan to record a new album and tour behind it? And what type of time frame do you anticipate that to happen?

Larry: "Yeah, we are a band again. The plan is to record but there again you need a label to do that. Touring, I think will be sporadic. Rob and I make our money and support our families in the corporate world; really all of us have day gigs that quite frankly pay the bills better than anything we could make on the road. So when you hear of us doing a show you know we really wanted to do it because we are basically taking vacation time to play them."

Rob: "We are officially a band again. It is up to the people, the fans, and the labels whether or not we continue on. If the interest is there, we will continue to record and do some touring. For me, I would really like to see us put out at least one more 'official' HELSTAR release for the fans who've asked for it all of these years."

LivingForMetal.com: I know it's in the early stages but what can we expect to hear on the new HELSTAR album? How are the songs taking shape and how has your playing styles and skills changed over the years?

Larry: "I don't practice as much as I used to but I was never really a shredder, you know. I've always tried to select my notes and make my solos interesting; that hasn't changed. I think my picking is a little bit better now. I think the new HELSTAR album will find us sounding a bit heavier but we won't forget our neoclassical roots."

Rob: "I think it will sound like HELSTAR, only updated and with better production. I'd like to think that we can make something that will sound as heavy and dark as we know the band can sound. There will definitely be more aggression at times, but melody as well."

I saw Sadus two nights ago and met Steve, It was a mind blowing show

Apocalyptic Raids 05-28-2006 09:39 PM

That sounds awesome. Weren't they playing with Obituary?

Riva 05-29-2006 06:29 AM

Obituary and Sadus would be a great, great concert.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-29-2006 06:39 AM

Yeah, it would. Them two and Sepultura toured back in 1990 or something. What a gig that would be.

NP: Destruction - Life Without Sense
I saw Destruction 4 years ago. They weren't even that great! Annnd I had the chance to see them this past Saturday, buuuut I didn't even go!

and meeting your favourite bands is easy. Everybody take notes here. I'll assume most of everybody's favourite bands here are actually good, and not rock stars! like Slayer or Megadeth or whoever, so go to one of their shows if it comes to town, or even to a relatively close town/country, then approach them and proceed to speak to them. You'd be surprised how often they'll stand around and speak/drink with you. Provided they're not really busy at that particular moment, or as long as you're not really boring anyways. :p

Bazarov 05-29-2006 08:13 PM

That's actually true. That's how I met Cryptopsy. When I met Mustaine though I had to purchase the new Megadeth CD. Oh well....
