Ride The Lightning is number 1
Kill 'em All/Master of Puppets, I'd probably say Kill 'em All's better, but not by much. ... Hell, I say St. Anger's better then AJFA. |
Hell, I say St. Anger's better then AJFA.
No way, you really prefer St. Anger to AJFA? NP: Dream Theater-Erotomania |
MOP
RTL ...AJFA KEA There's the official order for fatbandit's choice, though the top three are almost interchangable. I always change my mind about which is best. |
For me the best are always just the first four albums, I can't decide on one album.
|
The newer stuff of Metallica isnt half as good as the old stuff (this has been said before) but i talk to people and they say they love metallica and i go fav album and they say sumin like St Anger like that is their worst album. My favourite album would be either The "black" album or ride the lightning
|
Psh, I love the Black Album and Loads. But if I'm in a 'fuck shit up' kind of mood, nothing helps better than Justice. If you're listening to the later stuff, listen to it for what it is (finely crafted music, that is very listenable and all round quality stuff), not what it isn't. If you want to listen to old school thrash, go listen to KEA.
Still, one of my favourite albums is S&M. And one of my favourite tracks off of that is Hero of the Day, so its not as if the Load/Reload stuff is bad. |

oh and i meant like Reload and St Anger more St Anger cause i reakon they sold out...i should get the album and listen to it first tho lol before i start making these claims...reload does have fuel on it tho and the memory remains so that gives it credibility

this post made me laugh  I would Probably say: RTL KEA MOP ...AJFA My top three are almost interchangable and i even go through phases when ..and justice for all sneaks in aswell. I think Ride The Lightening is the best because it still has that awesome heavy sound but shows evidence of the band maturing (fade to black). Although Master of Puppets also does this aswell and includes my favorite metallica song (Sanitarium), it just seemed to me that it didn't extend enough on RTL or take them to any new levels. The reason fo my placement of KEA is that it is the bands debut and is flawless from start to finish, which is some acchievement. I probably prefer the more matured metallica albums and songs but KEA is metal from start to finish and is great when in a ****ty mood. |
i get it
Load is probably my favourite album and i am unfortunate enough to not have bought the S&M album but i will get around to it.
 Alright. |
why
sorry, it is not your fault. It's just the way you worded it I think. And also you claim not to like the way the band have "sold out" and then say the black album is your favorite. It is not a problem that the black album is your favorite, its just a contradiction because it is widely considered this is when the band hit the mainstream. |
my favourite albums:
AJFA MoP RTL Black KEA I put the black album in there too cause i think the black albums although less thrashy its still some of their greatest work. i think its better than kill em all cause kill em all had the least interesting guitar solos out of them all. |
I like the solos of KEA personally.
NP:Pantera-The Underground In America |
I think the solos on KEA are too bluesy and pentatonic, and you can tell Kirk hasn't developed his own style yet.
|
He had a simple style sure, but it fittted well with KEA.
NP:Meshuggah-I |
You can tell Kirk learned alot between KEA and RTL.
|
btw creeping_deth congratulations on 666 posts.
btw creeping_deth congratulations on 666 posts.
Yesterday when a couple people went off topic, you had to remind us that it was a metallica therad. Do I need to remind you? NP:Machine Head-Davidian |

All he did was fiddle with Daves leads. They're hardly different. I'm not really suprised there's a change from Kill 'Em All to Ride The Lightning as they weren't his solos on Kill 'Em All. |
i heard metallica doin the blitzkrieg and I think lars drum work on that track is kick ***! sorry to change the subject...but that song is really rocking..though I never heard the blitzkrieg version I dont know how it could be much better.
|
i thought it was kick a** too i really loved it. it was f***ing awsome.

I would say Hammett is better at creating solos when compared to Mustaine's. They're more memorable. |
the solos on KEA are just insane. i dont knnow how kirk can remember all those solos he wrote. even thinking it up and writing it down would have to be hard enough
|

They're Daves ****ing solos! dammit, doesn't anybody read. |
I would say Hammett is the better musician when compared to Mustaine.
i have to agree with you on that one. mustaine did do some crazy stuff with megadeth though |
I would say Hammett is the better musician when compared to Mustaine.
Not as an all round Guitarist. Perhaps Kirk is a better Lead guitarist, but that's about it. |
I edited my post but you guy's quoted too **** fast. No biggy.
|
yeah well i still think Hetfield > Hammett > Mustaine
|
yeah well i still think Hetfield > Hammett > Mustaine
Explain why, otherwise your post is void. |

massive thumbs down |
Yesterday when a couple people went off topic, you had to remind us that it was a metallica therad. Do I need to remind you?
NP:Machine Head-Davidian
its called being friendly, dude. anyway, this isnt the same thing. i only reminded people yesterday because there were about 5 posts about pantera. kirk actually didnt have much to do with the solos on KEA, it was mostly Daves and james' work. however he did get lessons from joe satriani after KEAs release and this is partly where he got his style from. btw.......anyone heard any hammett-era Exodus? |
James didn't do any solos on Kill 'Em All, aside from the first one on The Four Horsemen. I also thought Kirk was taught by Satch before he joined Metallica.
I've not heard anything Hammett-Era Exodus, aside from Impaler. |
nah i havnt but ive really wanted to hear some. and yeah hammet got the lessons after KEA
|

Did Kirk ever make an album with Exodus before he went with Metallica?
|
Nope
