i have as much right to be here as he does.
Not when your posts average 5 words and have absolutely nothing to do with music.

ooba doooba 01-07-2005 05:02 PM

just a minute ago I simply said that I enjoyed American Beauty very well and then you tell me to fuck off. Now, it seems to me that right there you were the one that tried to start the fight with me.

thickasabrick 01-07-2005 05:09 PM
Then I guess a better way to put it is that I find it to be boring as hell and I can't stand to listen to it. Why would I vote for it when there's Aqualung, an album which I love more and more every time I listen to it.
that's a much better reason than your other one. I actually could have gone both ways between American Beauty and Aqualung, but I figured American Beauty has a better chance of beating out all those other albums that Aqualung does, so i went with it...power in numbers you know.

Yes ,I did start the fight. All you do in this thread is spam and make useless posts. This is one of the few threads on mx that is relativly spam free.

I ask you, are these really contributing?

JPJ, it's a shame you don't feel that way about American Beauty. But that's a good reason.

thickasabrick 01-07-2005 05:11 PM

ooba dooba, it's because your posts are very short, random, and off topic. i'm not saying you don't have a right to be here, i'm just saying maybe you could go for quality, not quantity of posts..it isn't a race to see who can get more post count faster.

i have nothing against you personally, but Rock is good at spotting out useless spammy posts, and most of your posts are borderlining.

edit- and Rock, your links arent working for me...you might wanna check them again.

Badmoon 01-07-2005 05:12 PM
voted for American Beauty...it's not brilliant, although I like it quite a lot, but I didn't really think the other options were all that great either. :-/
I disagree. If you ask me, American Beauty is an absolute masterpiece. Each song fabulous and different, and no disapointments. IMO

Well, I just bought...

Jazz is Dead - Lauging Water (Wake of the Floor tribute)
Jerry Garcia - Cat Under the Stars

thekolonel 01-07-2005 05:15 PM

I'm only 14 but the classic rock bands that i like are:
ac/dc
Jimi Hendrix
CCR
BTO
The Who
Led Zeplin
Van Halen
The Doors
Sultants Of Swing
Guns N Roses
Sammy Hagar
Elton John
Meat Loaf
Robert Plant
Neil Young And Crazy Horse
Cream
Stevie Knicks
Bob Seger

And to the guy who thought that the darkness were the only ones bringing classic rock back there is jet although i do like the darkness better, and i noticed that a lot of classic rock t-shirts are being sold in stupid stores like bluenotes and stitches so most of the kids that buy them dont even know anything about the bands so when you ask them questions about their shirts they look like morons.

thickasabrick 01-07-2005 05:20 PM

nice bands there Thekolonel, I'm not really a fan of Sammy Hagar though.

I'm just wondering, when you say Stevie Nicks, and Robert Plant..do you mean their solo careers? Or the bands they were in?

And Badmoon is right...although there were some great albums on that list, none were on the same level as American Beauty. It's much more grand.

Jam2Me 01-07-2005 05:22 PM

I would've thought you all voted for American Beauty, that's like one of their most popular albums because of all the hits on it. I like all the songs on it too, that is a masterpiece, one of my top tenners.

That was quasi-tough for me though I like that Pearl Jam one, nowhere near as good as American Beauty though. :amaze:

BillCosby 01-07-2005 05:26 PM
Sultants Of Swing
Is that an actual band?

Maybe he means the Dire Straits?

thickasabrick 01-07-2005 05:29 PM
Is that an actual band?

hmm.. i didn't even catch that one.

most likely Dire Straits.

gmoneyguy 01-07-2005 05:35 PM

George Harrison keeps alluding me, I can't ever find All Things Must Pass, and my parents can't find it for me either.

thickasabrick 01-07-2005 05:37 PM

George Harrison...like a movie/book/album or something? Or do you have a cat named George Harrison that you lost?

(I'm assuming you aren't talking about the George Harrison)

edit- i stand corrected.

Badmoon 01-07-2005 05:52 PM
I would've thought you all voted for American Beauty, that's like one of their most popular albums because of all the hits on it. I like all the songs on it too, that is a masterpiece, one of my top tenners.
I didn't vote for such Dead albums as Built to Last or anything slightly unlike because I knew they wouldn't get voted in.

BTW

BludgeonySteve 01-07-2005 05:56 PM

My parents have a good deal of Harrison stuff and I listen to it.

They were around when it was new though ;)

Jam2Me 01-07-2005 05:58 PM

Yeah Workingman's Dead and American beauty probably had the best shot, maybe Shakedown Street too, I'm not sure which ones made it in I think the first two I mentioned did though.

I'm guessing some Led Zep or some heavy metal boohlah will win this thing though.

EDIT: What's your avatar of?

Badmoon 01-07-2005 06:00 PM

I believe I voted for Shakedown Street, because other than it being a tremendous album, Livewired JPJ and others here like it (I believe).

By the looks of it, Pink Floyd- The Wall will take it. Metallica- Master Of Puppets won the 100 greatest albums of the last 2 years poll and pink floyd's kicking its ***.
EDIT: What's your avatar of?
Me?

Well, mine is a small section of a piece of art capturing a moment in the early Testament. That man running is Samson from the story of Samson, Delilah and the Philistines. With God's permission, he had just trashed a whole building housing Philistines.

If that does not seem interesting listen to...

Grateful Dead - Samson & Delilah

Which has the line, "If I had my way, I would tear this old building down!".

/badmoon history lesson

DeusExMachina 01-07-2005 06:11 PM

Badmoon, that is a very awesome picture. I knew it was Samson, but I hadn't seen that full picture before. I like it!

Yea, Shakedown Street was actually the first Dead album I liked.

thickasabrick 01-07-2005 06:15 PM

does anyone here think Ace Frehley is an amazing guitarist?

i got yelled at by someone who claims he's a "Rock GOD" because I said he isn't that great. i just wanna know if most people think he's actually better i believe him to be.

jpj 01-07-2005 06:17 PM

I think he is one of the most over rated musicians of all time.

BludgeonySteve 01-07-2005 06:18 PM

I don't know. He's very good but not amazing or a rock god.

Badmoon 01-07-2005 06:20 PM

He actually has some skill.

jpj 01-07-2005 06:22 PM

He does have skill, but he's not as good as huge Kiss fans would have you belive.

DeusExMachina 01-07-2005 06:23 PM

He's alright, but in my mind, Kiss = overrated.

magicbus 01-07-2005 06:27 PM

I like Ace, but I'm not the biggest fan of Kiss.

Andy Jiggles 01-07-2005 06:32 PM

i love classic rock. it seems like everyone is going back to classic rock.

does anybody know billy squire?

jpj 01-07-2005 07:06 PM

The only Billy Squire song I've heard is The Stroke which I think is his best known song. I liked it, very catchy.

Woodstock 01-07-2005 07:12 PM

So, Astral Weeks or Moondance?

Joe 01-07-2005 07:19 PM

Yeah, everybody's going back to Electrical Outputs, feminine colored name, and a heavy blimp, and that's it.

Its an excuse to put up my website:

http://coffeehouseclub.com/seafroggys/

A lot of the recordings are not great, but some of them are pretty good IMO.

I don't get the first one :( I like the others.

lunch998 01-07-2005 10:11 PM

That's a creative way of saying it. (To Seafroggys)

Isn't the first one Ac/Dc?

Hey, you're not to bad. I'm no drummer, but if you'd like an outside opinion, it wasn't so bad.

Broken Arrow 01-07-2005 10:16 PM
