Gorgoroth didn't become successful (later) by writing good music. They became successful after the last 2 albums of generic, mainstream-oriented black metal that was more digestible to the average metal fan.

Which in turn led to masses of children hailing him, so that he now doesn't even have to write decent music for kids to gobble it up like candy.

Honestly I have heard far more people praise Pentagram, Antichrist, or UTSOH rather than the latest albums.

You can't deny that thousands of fans will buy an album simply because it has the name Gorgoroth on it, though, regardless of whether it's decent or not.

Which is why I said, if they didn't, then he might actually be forced to try harder.


The same goes for whatever Infernus's future endeavours are, though.

Yeah I doubt future albums will be good but at least the first three were.

i think its an illusion to think that there's a whole load more **** bands around today than there were in the past - the **** bands of yesteryear are just forgotten and the best remembered giving the illusion that it was ever better than it is today. i do think that there is little innovation in metal today, however
