I liked most of the vocals more than anything. I'd say the awful guitar work was the killer. It sounded like complete garbage, and the solos were laughable. The drums sounded like *** too.

I prefer the thicker, layered vocal production of earlier albums, such as In Thier Darkened Shrines.

I liked a lot of the riffing, but w/e.

Drums sounded about the same to me.

Nile's solos have always been laughable, tbh.
Cephalic Carnage is good stuff.

The only thing that sucked about Nile's Ithyphallic was the vocals/vocal production. Everything else was top notch.

Yea, they're yanking your chain about Daath. Horrid band.
I was reading somewhere that Ithyphallic was better produced than all their other stuff so when I bought it I was expecting the guitars to not be muddy and fuzzy again but, they still are.

Tyler 02-09-2008 04:35 PM

Karl Sanders' guitar work is laughable in general. He thinks playing some impossible to tune fretless double neck gets him a pass on writing annoying riffs.

beans 02-09-2008 04:36 PM

i read that as well, i was not happy once i heard it for the first time

Well, overall it is; the big stink was about how the vocals were sooo much clearer. To me, that actually killed them, so i don't know what all the fuss was about.

RetiredAt21 02-09-2008 05:08 PM

I'm not into Cephalic Carnage at all anymore. They bore the **** outta me.

beans 02-09-2008 05:20 PM

they've always bored the sh*t outta me
lol but they love to smoke weed

RetiredAt21 02-09-2008 05:27 PM

I love to smoke weed.

Toaster 02-09-2008 05:28 PM

i dunno what you guys are talking about sometimes.. the production on ithyphallic is perfectly acceptable, and far better than on any of their previous albums. that's clearly the sound they're going for- the really gritty, muddy, scooped guitar sound has been the trademark Nile sound for as long as theyve been together. its a bad album but obviously not because of the production.

beans 02-09-2008 05:28 PM

haha they lit up a fat joint at the summer slaughter tour when they stopped through my town and passed it around the front row, i was in the back laughing

Toaster 02-09-2008 05:30 PM

thats pretty ****ing gross lol

beans 02-09-2008 05:34 PM

it was funny, but yes, gross

Rickabobaloey 02-09-2008 07:38 PM

I'm currently listening to The Facelss Akeldama and I have to say it is kicking *** all over the place. Wow, an amazing first album (even though it is 2 years old now).

beans 02-09-2008 07:39 PM

good album to get into, even though they dont have that singer anymore

rattlehead42147 02-09-2008 09:24 PM
Yes, get the album Human, best DM ever tbh.
Me'n Steve see eye to eye on this. :thumb:

listened to it today actually. The guitar sound is killer, their best production job.

Rickabobaloey 02-09-2008 10:02 PM

Called my friend (who literally has 1000+ CDs he bought) and he said he has it and will burn it for me. So I'm looking forward to it.

In the meantime, I've been listening to Arsis A Celebration of Guilt for the past hour (not really sure how long it is). The more I listen to it, the better it becomes. The melodic parts really mesh well with the death metal blasting and growls. I've actually been listening to this one for about a month now, but the more I listen to it the more it grows. It deserves better than a 3.5 that I gave it. I've not checked out United in Regret yet but I looked them up at Wikipedia and I see they have a new CD in April. So that'll be awesome.

I'll end the night out listening to Nile.

masscows 02-09-2008 10:03 PM

United in Regret sucks, don't bother. I hope their new one is just as good or better than ACOG.

Definitely check out A Diamond for Disease though.

rattlehead42147 02-09-2008 10:06 PM

Arsis are crap tbh. Major unnecessary wankage on the review site on their behalf.

they aren't anything amazing or groundbreaking, but they are a good sounding, well produced band.
