2^2=2 x 2
-2^2=-2 x -2 -2 x -2=4
Actually, it would be 2^2=2 x 2, so 2 x 2 = 4; however, -2^2 = -1 x 2 x 2, which would then, essentially, come out as -4. The one is just "invisible" as some would say. If it were (-2)^2 then, yes, that does equal -2 x -2, which does equal 4. |
whos watching south park? the dog the bounty hunter thing was hilarious.

i am, funny stuff.
Uhh...
1+3=4 because we all know how to count and add numbers together. Let me try to explain this... People used to think the Earth was flat. This was regarded as fact and truth because there was no disputing it at that time. They couldn't disprove it. Eventually they discovered that it is actually round, which we know is a fact know. The Earth is something that existed already and they were using their knowledge of it to come to the conclusions that they did. so if they were invented by man, 1 has NO MEANING, only the meaning that one man decided to give it. 1 is nothing, a concept, a theory. Mathematics and numbers were INVENTED by man, they did not exist beforehand. There is nothing new to find out about 1+1 because it already has an answer that is set in stone, 2. We're not going to suddenly get some new information by doing equation after equation that tells us, oh, 1+1 is actually 3.
exsactly, invented by man. one mans rules are right and the rest are wrong? if he wanted to he could have said "1+1 = 3" and today, right now, you'd be arguing that 1+1=3. i think were having trouble articulating this in text. |
Both MSN and myspace are being retarded and you people are blathering about math.

Judd, I'm pretty disappointed with the FFV piano collection. It lacks a lot feeling in the playing and the piano was very bland sounding. |
2 =/= -2
2^2 = 4 -2^2 = 4
It's because it's negative two (-2) negative two (-2) times. So... -2 * 1 = -2 That shows -2 one time. -2 * -1 = 2 That shows -2 negative one times. Negative, being the opposite of positive, so when a negative number is multiplied by another negative, you are showing what happens when that negative is shown a negative number of times, thus making it positive. That probably wasn't clear at all (because it's damn hard explaining it in detailed words like that), but you're just being difficult for the sake of being difficult. |

whoa that pic^^^

Yeah. I would have to agree. It has one or two good songs, but for the most part, yes, moste blande. *recieves two monocles on the prenentious-ness scale*
Brink of Time if effing amazing and the Grand Finale isn't bad either. :thumb: |

If they thought us that 1+3 = 12, we would eventually grow and see it's illogical, just like we saw that Santa Clause was an illogical concept. And if someone said 1 + 1 is 3, he would be either wrong, or his concept of 3 is actually 2. |

Shipping...?
I have no idea. I can't imagine it'd be that expensive to ship a CD. I've yet to look into it yet, since I don't have cover art for the CDs so they're not technically for sale yet. |

 Weed would look like the color that it is regardless, green is the name that color was given. The color was not invented, the name was. |
I finally played the intro to classical thump well.
or his concept of 3 is actually 2.
this is what im arguing. im not arguing that a single apple and a single apple make two apples, thats very "true". im arguing that if you were told from day 1 that 1+3=12 you would believe it, because it was told to you as truth. numbers aren;t anything, they dont exist. can you punch the number one? of course you cant. number are what humans made them. they have no inherent traits because there is nothing inherent about them. it's a technicality, but the world runs off of them. you cant say, i percieve this pen as black, but i know that it may not be and then say, all numbers have an inherent value, they;re both human constructs, its the same thing. |

The way I see it, either Irish is discussing being taught illogical things, or being taught something if the definition of one thing was replaced by another (the value of three and the value of two, for example). |
