I've only seen them once. They're awesome in concert. Have fun :thumb: |
i just saw them for the first time last summer
you are in for a great time man!!! |
i think metallica rocks and they should win sum soughta prize for the best band for so many years, kirks best solo was all of the solos he did in the binge and purge tour, it so rules
|
i just want to hear "disposable heroes" live. as for new songs, james needs to hit the bottle again.
|
My favorite song to play is probably Creeping Death.
:thumb: |
nothing beats the opening breadfan (full version) and master of puppets (full version) when i saw them live.
my roommate showed me something really cool on the offical metallica forums. someone made a poll for the ultimate set list. apprently everyone, i think it got like 900 votes and counting, wants them to play dyers eve. which would rip cause that song is kick-***. |
I am hope fully going to see them this year at reading festival
|
Does anyone if they are coming to montreal during Their 04' north american tour.
cause they keep adding dates on the official site every three days but I didn't get a date yet. I 'm pretty sure by looking at other shows they will probably be coming in may, but a date would be nice. thanx |
What album is the song whiplash on???
|
Kill Em All
|
Ok I know the St.Anger issue is getting old. But I have to say if you heard there new live versions of St. anger songs you'd see they know they messed it up. They've started restructuring them.. kirk keept throwing solos in and the drums sound good. So if they can totally rehash bad songs and make them sound good then you know that they still have some talent left in them. Plus they are alot stronger now they got through all the pre St.anger stuff

To kirk wylde:
Just read this, some guy posted this on the metalica forum: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had a lot of doubts about St. Anger upon its release. After 13 years of disconnecting myself from Metallica (not the old albums), I wasn’t expecting anything that I would really like. With albums like Metallica, Load, and Re-load, it was really difficult for me to even imagine them changing from their softer direction. When the day finally came that St. Anger was released, I didn’t rush to the stores, instead, I borrowed a copy from a friend of mine, who had bought the cd. When Frantic started playing, I thought, “Nah, this heavy part will just be a small part of the song.. But, to my surprise, it didn’t end. In fact the heaviness never ended throughout the album. I was shocked by this new direction, which was actually a modified direction of their old roots. St. Anger is the modern day Kill ‘Em All. St. Anger is raw, simple, with simple lyrics, much like Kill ‘Em All was. Of course, St. Anger does not sound exactly like Kill ‘Em All, the circumstances are very different. One of the biggest reasons it sounds different, even though they are trying to get back to their roots, is because in their original roots, they had Cliff Burton and Dave Mustaine writing. Cliff is dead, and Mustaine hasn’t been a part of Metallica since 1983. There is nothing that can be done about that. So, they are trying to re-capture the roots without two major elements of the roots. Another thing to consider is the production capabilities of 1983, compared to 2003. Does anyone really believe that if Metallica had the money or production experience in 1983 that they have now, that Kill ‘Em All would have come out the same production as it did? I don’t think so. Also, how long has it been since they’ve actually written music with the attempt to capture the old roots spirit? It’s been at least 14 years. After 14 years of writing music totally opposite or alien to the old roots, it’s really difficult to just start writing in old root fashion and totally ignore the more recent writing styles. They’ve been conditioned to it, so it’s not going to completely disappear overnight. However, if they decide to progress from St. Anger like they progressed from Kill 'Em All to Lightning, Puppets, and Justice, it's only going to get better and heavier. One of the aspects of St. Anger that gives an indication that old school influenced Metallica is back is in St. Anger the song. The lyrics in the chorus, "**** it all and ****ing no regrets, I hit the lights on these dark sets", those are lyrics that originated from Damage Inc. in a line that goes, "**** it all and ****ing no regrets, never happy ending on these dark sets". Normally, I am not a fan of recycled lyrics, but in this case, I feel an exception must be made because a strong point is being made by the band. They took that line from Damage, Inc. and they have modified it with, “Hit the lights on these dark sets, with the “dark sets representing all that is old school Metallica. If that is not a statement about their desire to return to their roots, I don’t know what is. Is St. Anger the best Metallica album ever? No. Is it better than any of the first 4 albums? No. Is it the best Metallica album to come out since Justice? Absolutely. I keep reading about how people say St. Anger is worst than Load and Re-load, but how can it be worse, if St. Anger's music is 10 times heavier than those two albums combined??? I also read a post sometime ago that said that someone had to have sat in and played the drums in St. Anger because Lars is not that good. That person has either never listened to Master of Puppets or And Justice for All, or has no ear for drums. Lars has always been that good, he just hasn’t used his full potential in 14 years. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- What do you guys think. |
^^^
Heavy doesn't always mean good. I think Shinedown is more talented than Cradle of Filth, and CoF is heavier. As for reconstructing St. Anger, I think they should re-record it, and make the improvements that they're seeing they should have made. I think The Unnamed Feeling is awesome, but the bridge sounds like Hetfield is getting his guitar rammed up his ***. |
Thats almost the exact answer the guy got from his post in the metallica forum. I'm not going to copy the whole thread, but you should check it out.
What you say is true though. |
I need a guitar tab version of The Small Hours off Garage Inc. Can anybody help me? Send me an email please!!!
|
^^^
check any site man lol, its a common tab...try www.ultimate-guitar.com Also, rumors have it that Sharon Osbourne is trying to get Metallica to play Ozzfest. |
*Prays*
They don't do the Ozzfest over here anymore, so it don't matter. *Realises* But wait, Metallica are playing Download (note the pun) which is instead of Ozzfest, which I'm going to probably. |
^^What is download?
|
Download = festival at Donnington Castle.
It has different festivals every couple of years on the same general date - first there was Monsters of Rock, then some Kerrang thing (I think), then Ozzfest, now Download. |
I'm going to Download - mainly for Metallica ( again ).
Oh yeah, good to have you back Jon :chug: |
I might see Metallica at Werchter, If I go.
|
I might see Metallica at Werchter, If I go.
Question !
hey guys, could any of you tell me what the hell is the white crap kirk always has on his right hand ? i've read that it's because of palm-muting, but i didn't get it. can anyone please give me a clear explanation?
thank you |
Belgium of course. http://www.rockwerchter.be/index.asp
There's a list of some bands that are coming. ( for now)
Thanks :thumb: Btoto - some people wear bands or tape around their palmsto A: look cooler and B: it can give a rougher sound to your palm muting; try it with masking tape and it puts an edge to the tone. |
I am a massive metallica fan and I am sorry for bringing this up but I have to.
What do you guys think of the whole napster issue? Do you think Lars was an asshole? |
Lars blows.
|
And why exactly does lars "blow" buddy?
I would now personally like to flame the living **** out of everyone who hates lars because of that whole napster issue. You do understand that Lars volunteered to express the whole bands feelings about that, it wasn't just lars you know, he just decided to take the rap for it by announcing metallica's decision to fight that battle. Everyone seems to blame lars solely for the issue, they hate him because he was the only one who didn't want the music beong downloaded for free. Well your wrong because it was the whole band who didn't want this man! James Hetfield clearly said on an interview that the band nominated Lars to be the spokesperson for metallica, the whole band felt the same about the issue and hetfield said it was brave of Lars because the band knew that Lars was gonna take the rap for evrything. All ppl who hate lars for this stupid **** are a bunch of ****ers, Lars is the life of metallica, without him there is no metallica! Your all a bunch of cunts you know! Lars Rules, man! |
^^ Ok. So then the whole band blows :p
Their music (old stuff) is great, beyond great, it's perfect. But they, as people, are now greedy asswipes. |
