im thinking that live at the young vic is nowhere near as good as L@L. So i think ill settle for the remastered single cd version. Ive found someone who has the performance but thanks for the offer JXD. I hope you are right about the new tunes.

Alright Who Heads, I got my "tickets" for this Saturday and Sunday. Leeds University and Brighton whatever, here I come. :)
The site at www.thewholive.tv (not a proper link) is up and running and looking good. Some parts are still under construction, but what they have going on is very impressive. These folks are mega-charitable. And they make you want to be involved. This will be a 15 month world tour, it will raise ten million dollars for charity, and every single show will be recorded for sale on CD and DVD. All profits going to charity. Webcasts of all shows, some full length, and lot's of auction items will also be available. Including an autographed guitar Townshend smashed onstage in 2004. I saw a clip of that on Towser TV. Very exciting. And they have a mailing list. So I have my reciept and stuff but don't know how to actually access the broadcasts. Unless it's through my order number or reciept number, as a password or ticket number don't seem to be present. I've contacted customer service and will post more details for those interested when I have more details. This will be fun. And where is Lunch? Post up, man. Things are starting to happen.....:chug: |
The site at thewholive.tv still seems to be going though some changes. It's back to it's very basic scheme. So if you visit don't expect much, although they are probably just setting up things still, as this morning it had a bunch more stuff on it. So disregard what I said in a previous post about it being "up and running". Although it is there and functioning.
Anyway, looks like they will be doing the Wine & Glass EP in it's entirety. Here is a quote from Pete's journal: 13 June 2006 Wire & Glass in rehearsal We are playing it. It sounds great. It's new, and that feels strange, we haven't played anything new for such a long time, but it's also familiar - I remember playing new songs to audiences who were really unsure they wanted to hear them. This selection is eleven minutes long, we will blast through it, and if the crowd get distracted they can buy our fabulous merchandizing. -Pete Townshend So that's pretty cool...... EDIT: Rehearsal pics. Looking good: http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/6839/petesideonrh0jf.jpg http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/774/untitled6hu.jpg http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/1941/0iko8vc.jpg http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/6600/petewithscreens0os.jpg http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/2097/petelaughingrh5ev.jpg |
Hey you Who fags. Where the fuc.k is everyone, for chrissakes? The tour starts tommorow at Leeds University. Isn't anyone excited? What are your hopes for the tour. Your expectations? Pics in the above post. Pretty sweet, amirite? This fuc.king thread is like a ghost town.
I've been abandoned except by a few. :( |
i lurk in this thread. I never have anything interesting to add except how much the Who kick ***
|
Good enough, seafroggys. Nice to see you are still with us holding down the fort.
And yes, urite. The Who kick major ***. And they will continue to do so at Leeds Uni tommorow. :) |
I wonder if it the leeds gig will be a small crowd of around 2000-3000 again?
|
I wonder if it the leeds gig will be a small crowd of around 2000-3000 again?
Yup. 2,100. Bet it's going to be loud. The Who played a 1,300 seat venue in Vegas back in late 2002 and reports are that it was ear-splittingly loud. They have always done well in small venues, it seems. I bought a "ticket" for 99 cents to see three tunes performed. I hope they have there crap together at the site because they say they have no record of my purchase. I'll pay again, but it's just the principle. And if it isn't going to work the first time, what would lead me to believe it would the second? I just want to see the Who and be a small part of this. |
The Who are doing a world tour, but i wonder if that will include Australia. I really want to hear "The Real Me" performed live
|
It's a 15 month world tour so you never know. Although I believe so far as performing The Real Me that prospect died with John....
|
Check it out, guys. I got my ticket.
*excited* http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/3939/untitledojojko4qq.jpg :) |

Oh man, don't I wish. I think it's going to be an excellent show. This will get me three songs. Maybe if they are feeling generous one or two more. But I doubt it as it's all for charity and they want people to continue to tune in at 99 cents a pop. I'm just excited to see The Who at Leeds. I don't think their is any footage of them from their 1970 appearance there, so this is a real treat. When they come to South California I will be sure to be there. |
I got my ticket for the Londen hyde park gig :) it will be a full setlist
and I need to fly there and book a htoel there, but Iwill also see Roger Waters ft Nick Mason :) and maybe I have some work at Wimbledon there, and all that in 5 days :p |
We'll expect a full report/review, Prince....
Saw the webcast. They opened strong if a bit tentatively with Who Are You, I Can't Explain, The Seeker, and Substitute. Sounded good, good energy, but as I said a bit tentative as might be expected from the opening numbers of a new tour. Good deal..... |
Oew The Seeker that one is nice :D
|
I just thought that I would share with everyone:
I had a dream last night that I got tickets for me and all my friends to The Who. Except, the show was on a giant cruise ship docked where the USS Intrepid would be. So we get there, and are somehow able to catch them while rehearsing. John Etwistle was there, and he looked like he did in the 70's even though Pete and Roger looked the way they do today. John was also playing a three-string bass. As it turns out, I do something to the ship that causes it to sink. Some of my friends use an undersea escape pod (yeah...I don't know) and I get in a cheap liferaft that doesn't fully stay above the water. I start semi-floating through the streets of New York, and as the ship was going down I heard The Who playing from it. So if they decide to play on any ocean liners, I advise everyone to not go to that show, and try to catch them next time. |
Yeah my friend is off to see the who in brighton tonight.
Does anyone know who's playing bass and drums on this tour because he apparently couldn't find out anywhere. Does anyone else not think that they are just a little bit past it though? |
Zak Starksley (how you spell it) is drumming :)
|
Pino Palidino is playing bass I think. They are both very good.

It's about time you show your face around here. It's been a big Who week. And to answer whoever asked, The Who are not "past it" yet. After this tour they may be, and Roger's voice is sometimes worse for wear (after all his instrument is a part of him. And his aging body) but they are not past it. They sounded brilliant yesterday. |

Yea, I was in Ocean City for a week of straight drinking, smoking, and partying with most other seniors who graduated from around here. I've come back a changed person, but I still love the Who.

Afraid not. This will most likely be the last go around. I think Pete will always make music, and Roger can act, sing a little, whatever. But they are 62 and 63, respectively. And you know playing the kind of music they play the way they play it is a young mans game. So maybe they will get together once in awhile as Pete and Rog or sometihng. But with a batch of new material out and a 15 month tour going, I would think this might be the last. Maybe yet another "farewell tour" and call it a day. The Who will be with you through it all. They were for me. I'll never let them go. :) |
Yea I think I just guaranteed that I'll die before I get old thanks to Beach Week.
